Nintendo Changes Gamecube, Game Boy Advance Launch Dates
02.14.2001

ANDREW LONG

Nintendo

Last August, when they unveiled the Game Boy Advance at Space World, Nintendo pencilled in a North American July 2001 release for the handheld; however, at this week's Toy Fair in New York, the company distributed the Nintendo Marketing Calendar, which lists the date as June 11th. That wasn't all, however; Nintendo's calendar also revealed that the North American launch of the Gamecube has been pushed back to November 2001.

The delay of the Gamecube is not entirely a bad thing; after all, it will allow developers more time to make sure the system's launch titles shine, a consideration which would have benefitted the PlayStation2 immensely(although little things like adequate supply would probably have helped too). Nintendo, for their part, has yet to officially comment on either of these revelations, although the information page for the Game Boy Advance at their site, Nintendo.com does mention the release date's change.
