Enix has revealed that its upcoming action/adventure title, Blade Arts, will not be released in North America. Earlier today, RPGamer contacted Enix to confirm that the title has indeed been cancelled; furthermore, a spokesperson for Enix told GameInformer.com that the PlayStation title could not be justified with a North American localization. Whether this means that the title wasn't up to Enix USA's standards, that the North American gaming climate isn't appropriate for such a title, or another reason-- that is currently unknown.
Blade Arts is an action/adventure game similar to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Gameplay consists of exploring dungeons, solving puzzles within the dungeons, and defeating enemies in sword combat (using a targeting system very similar to the Z-Targeting system in
Zelda). While Blade Arts's gameplay has sparked some interest, its low-quality graphics have drawn mixed feelings about the game's success. Stay tuned to RPGamer for possible further word on the reason for the game's cancellation.
