Nintendo's Project Dolphin: Officially Delayed

In a final confirmation to the recent barrage of rumors, Nintendo of America officially announced the delay of their upcoming next-generation system, the Project Dolphin. The Dolphin's North American release, which was originally set for late 2000, has been pushed back to the "first half" of 2001. This news comes in response to Microsoft's earlier announcement that their X-Box system would launch in the second half of 2001.

Nintendo's main reason for the delay is a viable one: they want to give developers enough time to create a large, solid lineup of games. In addition, Nintendo feels that its N64 lineup for 2000 is its best lineup in history, which should be able to satisfy N64 owners until the Dolphin's launch. Although this rather expected news is disappointing, the announcement does not apply to the Japanese launch of the Dolphin, which could still take place sometime this year. Stay tuned to RPGamer for all further details concerning the inevitable release of Nintendo's Project Dolphin.
