Comment: Here's my submission for the final round. Certainly not the safest formula for winning a contest, but hey, like the great Austin Powers said, I like to live dangerously. So, it's a calm, ethereal, almost minimalist take on Metamorphosis from FFVI.

Comment: "Battles of Mt. Koltz", it is a heavy metal medley of "The Decisive Battle", "The Fierce Battle", and "Mt. Koltz" from Final Fantasy VI This is something I tracked a few years ago, mainly influenced by the metal bands I was listening to a lot of at the time. Starts off with "The Decisive Battle", kind of jumps into some filler I wrote to help stick the songs together better, then jumps into "The Fierce Battle", and then goes into "Mt. Koltz". I had been thinking of submitting this for a while, but never had the guts to put it up in public... But I noticed that the monthly challenge this month was battle themes, and I've got two of those in this piece so hopefully that works.

Deadly Promises

Comment: The other day a friend of mine and myself were resolving a conflict that has been going on for a few months now, and some promises were made. Now, if these promises were ever to be broken, the results would be catastrophic, even deadly (in a non-literal sense). Anyways, after that conversation, this tune started rushing through my head and not much later I had the basis of my next remix, hence the name "Deadly Promises".

Comment: I loved the opera scene in the game, but their version of the singing was horrid. I always wanted to hear a true english adaptation to the song, and despite that their own translation didn't really fit the song well, I was able to tweek it enough that it did fit. My friend georgasmaster did an amazing job arranging this piece, especially with the limited resources he had for classical music. There are some intonation issues that I may (someday) fix, though it probably won't happen any time soon. Hope you enjoy!

Terra, Incognita

Comment: A theme from one of my favorite RPGs of all time—Terra (I refuse to call it Tina; the name is simply too common for one of the most complex heroines in all of RPG history.) was rather easy to play around with as it has a very simple structure. I made a conscious effort not to overdo the remixing, though, as it is in that simplicity that the theme finds its beauty. The remix is an exercise in syncopation. Though not incredibly difficult, the rhythmic difference between what is played by either hand can be rather confusing.
Composed using Sibelius 5 and rendered by Kouen using SONAR 7 Producer Edition.

Comment: This piece features the theme of one of my favorite villains of all time, Kefka, and allows us a glimpse into his chaotic mind. The remix focuses on being, well, unfocused as it jumps from delicate contrapuntal melodies to Rachmaninoffian segments of unadulterated power and fury in a split-second. Notice that I also attempted to deconstruct the original piece itself, phrasing the segments differently and mutating the theme over and over.

Comment: I'm very thankful this song is finally finished. I have been editing this song for the last 2 years! I totally changed the chord progression on the Relm theme. it was alot fo hard work. I also added vocals to this song. I borrowed a couple of vox from "Kami no Yurikago FF6 Relms Theme".

Comment: This is a large-scale orchestral rock arrangement of the Decisive Battle and Fierce Battle from Final Fantasy 6. The guitar takes the lead for the majority, but there is plenty of interplay between all the instruments. Epic was the word in mind while working on this.
