The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Item Locations and Mini-FAQ Guide Version 1.1 Author: Alexander Schaewe Web: http://seph.simplenet.com Contact: ziggy16@webtv.net Revised: December 5th, 1998 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Item Locations --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sections: A) Equipment: Swords, Shields, etc B) Items: Slingshot, Bombs, etc C) Magic: Magic Spells, arrows, etc A) Equipment - Your Main Weapons: Swords, Shields, Clothes, Boots, etc. Child Link - Kokiri Sword: Find the training center in Kokiri Forest. It's next to the to the Know It All Brothers house, and the Garden. You'll see a little hole, which you need to crawl through. Dodge the boulder, and you'll find a treasure chest with the Kokiri Sword. Child/Adult Link - Master Sword: You'll find this Sword after you have all 3 Spiritual Stones. It can be found in the Temple of Time. This Sword will let you travel back and forth through time. Adult Link - Giant's Knife: Go to Goron City, and on the third floor, you'll see two bomb plants. Blow up the wall, and you'll find the Giant Goron. Pay him 200 ruppes for the Giant's Knife. (Note: Giant's Knife will break if impacted to hard surfaces.) Adult Link - Goron's Sword: Same as Giant's Knife...only this sword won't break. Look below at the mini-FAQ guide, to find out how get this sword. Child Link - Deku Shield: You can get this Shield by buying it from the store in Kokiri for 40 rupees. Child/Adult Link - Hylian Shield: This Shield can be bought at the Hyrule Market for 80 rupees, or found at the Kakariko village graveyard. Find the grave that has flowers in front of it and pull it to get the shield. (Note: This can only be done at night.) Adult Link - Mirror Shield: This Shield is found in the Spirit Temple. Child/Adult Link - Kokiri Tunic: This is Link's default Tunic. Adult Link - Goron Tunic: This Tunic can be bought at the Goron store for 200 rupees. You can also find by talking to the Big Brother's son, who was named after you. He's on the third floor of Goron City. You'll need to use a bomb to stop his rolling, then he'll give you the Tunic. Adult Link - Zora Tunic: This Tunic can be bought at the Zora shop, in Zora's Domain for 300 rupees. You can also get it from King Zora, after you've unfroze him with the blue flame. Child/Adult Link - Kokiri Boots: This is Link's default boots. Adult Link - Iron Boots: These boots can be found in the Cavern Level, which is found behind..where Jabu-Jabu once rested. Go through the level, and defeat the wolf at the end, and you'll get these boots. Adult Link - Hover Boots: These boots are found in the Shadow Temple. Child Link - Goron's Bracelet: You get this from the Goron, Big Brother when you play Saria's song for him. Adult Link - Silver Gauntlet: This Gauntlet is found in the Spirit temple. Adult Link - Golden Gauntlet: This Gauntlet is found in Ganon's Castle. Child Link - Silver Scale: You the Silver Scale by winning the Diving Game at Zora's Domain. Adult Link - Gold Scale: Beat the record of the fish you caught as a kid, to get the Gold Scale. Child/Adult Link - Stone of Agony: Collect 20 Gold Skulltula's and go to the house of the cursed rich family to get it. Child/Adult Link - Wallets: Collect 10 Gold Skulltula's to get the Adult Wallet (Holds 200 rupees) or 30 Gold Skulltula's to get the Giant Wallet. (Holds 500 rupees) Go to the house of the cursed rich family to get them. B) Items - Your Extras: Bombs, Deku Nuts, Ocarina, Lens of Truth, etc. Child Link - Deku Sticks: You can find Deku Sticks at shops, (1 for 10 rupees) or by slashing at grass, and defeating enemies. Child Link - Fairy Slingshot: This Weapon can be found in the Great Deku Tree. Deku Seeds is the ammunition for the Slingshot. They can be found by slashing grass, etc. Child Link - Boomerang: You can find this item in Jabu-Jabu's stomach. It's in the room with all the flying fish. Child/Adult Link - Deku Nuts: You can buy these in stores, (5 for 15 rupees) or find them by slashing grass, etc. Child/Adult Link - Ocarina: You get the Fairy Ocarina from Saria. You get the Ocarina of Time when you find all 3 Spiritual Stones, go to Hyrule Castle and Zelda will throw the Ocarina of Time into the moat. Just swim down and get it. Child/Adult Link - Bombs: They can be found by buying them at shops, (5 for 35 rupees, 10 for 50 rupees, 20 for 80 rupees, or 30 for 120 rupees) killing enemies, slashing grass, and so on. Bomb Bag is needed to use them though, it can be found in Dodongo's Cavern. Child/Adult Link - Bombchu: Get 40 Gold Skulltulas and then go to the house of the cursed family in Kakariko Village. Go up the one of the children and he'll give it to you. You can also buy them at a Shop in Hyrule Market. (10 for 100 rupees, or 20 for 180 rupees) Child Link - Magic Bean: These can be bought from the guy that's in front of the gate at Zora's River. He'll charge you 10 rupees for one, and then he'll add 10 more each time you buy one from him. These can be used on soft soil. Adult Link - Hookshot: Go to the Kakiriko Village Graveyard and look for the grave stone with flowers in front of it on your left hand side, when you enter. Grab it and pull, and then drop down in the hole. Talk to him and then he'll race you. (Note: It's not a real race..just keep up with him) Then he'll give you a the Hookshot. An upgrade will be found at the Water Temple, call the Longshot. Adult Link - Megaton Hammer: This weapon is found at the Fire Temple, in Death Mountain. Adult Link - Fairy Bow: This weapon can be found at the Forest Temple, in the Lost Woods. Child Link - Mask of Truth: Look below at the mini-FAQ guide, to find out how to get the Mask of Truth. Adult/Child Link - Bottles: You can get the first bottle by winning Talo's Chicken Game at Lon Lon Ranch. Second on you get once you find all of the Chickens in Kakiriko Village. Third one is found in Lake Hyrule. The forth is Adult Link only, and can be obtained by getting 10 giant poes (Ghosts) while riding on Epona...then take them to the Poe guy in Hyrule Market. Child/Adult Link - Fish: You can buy a fish for 200 rupees, or catch one in a bottle. Child/Adult Link - Poe: If you go to the Graveyard you can catch a Poe, or you can buy one for 30 rupees. Child/Adult Link - Bug: These can be found by lifting up rocks, slashing grass, etc. You may also buy them for 50 rupees. Child/Adult Link - Blue Flame: You can find the Blue Flame in the Ice Cavern as Adult Link, or buy it for 300 rupees. Child/Adult Link - Fairy Spirit: These Fairies can be found in some Fairy Fountains, and other places. You can catch them in a bottle, or buy one for 50 rupees. Child/Adult Link - Potions: You can buy these Potions and put them bottles. The Red Potion can be bought for 30 rupees. The Green Potion can be bought for 30 rupees. And last but not least..the Blue Potion can be bought for 100 rupees. (Trust me, it's worth it!) Adult Link - Arrows: You can buy these Arrows (10 Arrows for 20 rupees, 30 arrows for 60 rupees, or 50 arrows for 90 rupees) and find them by slashing grass, killing enemies, etc. C) Magic - Items that use Magic: Magic Spells, Lens of Truth, Magic Arrows, etc. Child/Adult Link - Magic Jar: You can find these by slashing grass, killing enemies, and so on. Child/Adult Link - Lens of Truth: Once you've learned the Song of Storms, go back as Child Link and play it in the Windmill. The well will be drained, and then climb down the well and you'll find the Lens of Truth here, once you go through the level. Child/Adult Link - Magic Spells: Scroll down to the mini-FAQ guide, to find out how to get the Magic Spells. Adult Link - Fire Arrow: After beating the Water Temple, go to the island where the big tree is. You can cross the bridge to get there. Use Sun's Song to turn day time, into night time and face the direction where the Sun will rise. Once the sun starts to rise, shoot it with your Bow. The Fire Arrow will drop down on the island ahead, with the two pillars. Adult Link - Ice Arrow: You get this Arrow after finishing the Gerudo Training Center. Adult Link - Light Arrow: You get this Arrow from Zelda when you enter the Temple of Time....once you have all 6 of the medallions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Mini-FAQ Guide --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sections: A) Child Link - Mask of Truth B) Adult Link - Goron's Sword C) Adult Link - Epona D) Child/Adult Link - Fairy Fountains A) Child Link - Mask of Truth: You'll need to follow these steps in order to get the Mask of Truth. The Mask of Truth will let you talk to those Gossip Stones, for tips and clues. 1. Once you enter Hyrule Market...make you way to Hyrule Castle. Malon is just waiting outside for her Dad, Talon. Talk to her and she'll give you and egg. Wait for a day..and it'll hatch. 2. Make your way past the guards, jump into the moat around Hyrule Castle, and climb out to the other side. Use the chicken to wake up Talon. He'll move out of the way...and then move the boxes so you can climb up to the little entrance on the side of the Castle. 3. Once again...make your way passed the guards, and then talk to Princess Zelda. She'll give you a letter. 4. Go to Kakariko Village and show the letter to the guard, by the entrance to Death Mountain. He'll tell you about the Happy Mask Shop...and ask you to get the Keaton mask for his son. 5. Go back to the Hyrule Market, and enter the Happy Mask Shop. Borrow the Keaton Mask. 6. Go to Kakariko Village, put on the mask and talk to the guard again. He'll pay you the money for the mask. 7. Go back to the Happy Mask Shop. Pay back the owner, and borrow the Skull Mask. 8. Go to the lost woods, and enter the log on the left. Stand on the tree stump and face the Skull Kid. First, you must play Saria's Song...and then put on the mask and talk to the Skull Kid. He'll pay you back..but he's 10 rupees short, so make sure to have enough rupees. 9. Go back to the Hyrule Market, and enter the Happy Mask Shop. Pay back the money and borrow the Spooky Mask. 10. Go back to Kakariko Village during the day, Put on the Spooky Mask and talk to the kid in the Kakariko Graveyard. He'll pay you for the mask. 11. Go back to the Happy Mask Shop, pay back the money and borrow the Bunny Hood. 12. After you've beat the Forest Temple and traveled back in time to Child Link, go to the Hyrule Field and look for a man running around, near Lon Lon Ranch. Follow him as best as you can...until nighttime comes. He'll sit down..and then wear the mask and talk to him. He'll buy the mask from you..and even over pay! 13. Go back to the Happy Mask Shop and pay back the money. Now you can borrow, the Mask of Truth. You may also borrow a Zora Mask, Goron Mask and even a Gerudo Mask. (Note: So far I've only found out what the Gerudo Mask can be used for. In Hyrule Market, there is a Man who is looking for a girlfriend. I haven't found him yet..but the Gerudo Mask is suppose to make you look like a girl. He'll probably give you a prize.) B) Adult Link - Goron's Sword: You'll need to follow these steps in order to get Goron's Sword. (Note: This sword is the same as the Giants Knife, only Goron's Sword won't break upon impact to hard surfaces.) 1. Go to Kakariko Village and talk to the woman who takes care of the chickens. She'll give you a chicken egg. In a day the egg will hatch. 2. Go back to Kakariko Village and enter the first house that's on ground level. You'll see Talon sleeping on the bed. Go up to him and equip the pocket chicken and use it to wake him up. 3. Go back to the Chicken woman and give the chicken back to her. She'll give you her brother's chicken. (Remember that guy sitting by the tree at night time, when you were a child? That's her brother.) 4. Go to the Lost Woods. When you enter go left and you'll come up that to that guy. Equip the blue chicken and give it to him. He'll wake up, and hand you an odd mushroom. 5. Take the odd mushroom to the strange potion shop in Kakariko Village. The strange potion shop is behind the normal potion shop. (Note: You only have 3 minutes to take the mushroom to the strange potion shop, before it spoils. Hurry up..and use Epona for faster travel. You cannot warp, or it will spoil.) Once you make it, equip the odd mushroom and give it to old lady. She'll give you an odd potion in return. 6. Go back to the Lost Woods and walk to the same spot where the sleeping man was. Give the odd potion to the little girl. After you give her the odd potion, you'll find the sleeping man left behind the Poacher's Saw. 7. Go to Gerudo Valley, cross the two brigdes and give the Poacher's Saw to the Carpenter that's standing outside. In return you'll get the Broken Goron Sword. 8. Now go to the top of Death Mountain and the big Goron will wake up. He'll fix the sword for you...but he needs Eye Drops to see properly, because of Death Mountain's eruption. He'll give you the Prescription for the Eye Drops. 9. Take the Prescription to King Zora. In return he'll give you the Eyeball Frog. 10. Take the Eyeball Frog to the professor at the Lake Hylia Lab in 3 minutes, before the Eyeball Frog spoils. Once again, use Epona to travel faster and make it on time. 11. Give the Eyeball Frog to the professor and he'll make up the Eye Drops. It will spoil in 4 minutes, so use Epona to travel back to Death Mountain. 12. Once you reach Death Mountain equip the eye drops and give them to the big Goron. He'll give you a Claim Check and fix the Sword in a three days. 13. Play Sun's Song...so three days pass. Then walk up to the big Goron and press the action button. He'll give you Goron's Sword! C) Adult Link - Epona: You'll need to follow these steps in order to get Epona. She'll help you ride around fast in the world of Hyrule, and jump across the bridge leading to the Gerudo Valley. 1. When you're younger, you must learn Epona's song. Go to Lon Lon Ranch, talk to Malon and show her the Ocarina. She'll teach you Epona's Song. 2. Once you become an Adult...visit Lon Lon Ranch during the day time. Have around 200 rupess, if possible, 110 at the most. Talk to Mr. Ingo and pay him 10 rupees to ride the horses. 3. Once you pay him, play Epona's Song. She'll come up to you, then climb on her and ride around. Once time's up..pay Mr. Ingo again, play Epona's song, climb up on her and then talk to Mr. Ingo. He'll challenge you to a race, with a 50 rupee wager. 4. Once you win the race against Mr. Ingo, he'll challenge you to another race. Win again and then you'll get Epona. 5. Mr. Ingo gets mad..and locks you in Lon Lon Ranch..not letting you out. Ride to the other side of the ranch where the building is. Use some carrots to gain speed and jump over the fence. (Note: You can only jump over the soft corners on both fences.) C) Child/Adult Link - Fairy Fountains: You'll need to follow these steps in order to find these Fairy Fountains. You'll get Magic Spells, and a Magic upgrade if you visit these places. 1. Make your way up to Death Mountain, go past the Goron where the fork in the road is. (Straight ahead leads to the top of Death Mountain, to the right leads to Goron City.) Keep heading up Death Mountain until you come up to the Owl. Walk past him and you'll see a crack in the rocks infront of you. Bomb them and you'll find the first Fairy Fountain. This is where you learn a Spin Attack, and get your Magic Power. 2. Go to Hyrule Market, and make your way to Hyrule Castle. Climb up the vines, go down the ladder where the gate is, and walk forward until you see a sign that says "Dead End." Walk past the sign, and you'll see a rock. Blow it up with a bomb, and you'll find the second Fairy Fountain. This is where you learn Din's Fire. 3. Go to Zora's Domain, and make your way past the King. You'll enter the small area where Jabu-Jabu is. Walk to the right...swim past the trees, and you'll see a little island. There is a rock on the island, blow it up with a bomb and you'll find the third Fairy Fountain. This is where you learn Farore's Wind. 4. Adult Link Only: Once you defeat the Fire Temple, go back to where you started in Death Mountain's Crater....take the path on the right until you come up to some rocks. You'll need to equip the Megaton Hammer. Smash the rocks and you'll find the forth Fairy Fountain. This is where you get a Magic Power upgrade, and your Magic Bar will increase. 5. Adult Link Only: Once you have the Gerudo members card, go to the big gate and make your way through the Haunted Wasteland. Once you enter the Desert Colossus, go to the right...and you'll see two trees. In between them, the wall is half broken. Use a bomb and blow it up, You'll find the fifth Fairy Fountain. This is where you'll learn Nayru's Love. 6. Adult Link Only: Once you get the Gold Gauntlet from Ganon's Castle, go back outside of the Castle, and follow the path down to where the Old Fairy Fountain was when you were a kid. Lift up the block, and you'll find the last Fairy Fountain. This is where you'll get a defense upgrade.
