The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time --------------------------------------------------- Happy Mask Shop / Biggoron's Sword Guide (ver 2.0) Copyright 1998, Michael Drucker (mikesdcool@aol.com). Any questions about this e-mail me at Mikesdcool@aol.com NEW STUFF: I got some more information to make the Biggoron's sword quest easier, thanks to Nintendo Guru. Look under the Biggoron's Sword section for his tip if you've been having trouble the other way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This guide covers two of the most prominent of the miniquests in Zelda 64. The first is for young Link, being the Happy Mask Shop Quest. The second, for adult Link, is the Biggoron's Sword Quest. Each quest explanation is split into two sections. The first is a list of things to have done before the quest. The second is the actual walkthrough of the quest. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE HAPPY MASK SHOP QUEST THINGS TO HAVE DONE: 1. It's a good idea to have completed all three dungeons as young Link. These are the Deku Tree, Dodongo's Cave, and Jabu-Jabu's stomach. With these done, transportation to various spots should be easily recognizable. 2. Have the adult or giant's wallet. THINGS TO DO: 1. Go to the mask shop. Take the Keaton mask. 2. Go to the guard in Kakariko village. Wear the mask and talk to him. He'll buy it from you. 3. Go back to the mask shop and pay the man back. Take the skull mask. 4. Go to the skull kid in the Lost Woods (first left at the entrance). Wear the mask and talk to him. He'll buy it from you. (note: the skull kid under-pays you, so make sure you have enough to pay back the mask shop owner before you go back to him.) 5. Go back to the mask shop and pay the owner back. Take the spooky mask. 6. Go to Kakariko village's graveyard during the day. Wear the mask and talk to the boy who walks around there. He'll buy it from you. 7. Go back to the mask shop owner and pay him back. Take the bunny hood. 8. Here's the hard part. Wear the mask and wander around Hyrule Field. Eventually (usually at night), you'll see a man jogging around. Follow him around until he takes a breather. Talk to him. He'll completely load you with money. 9. Go back to the mask shop and give the owner his money. 10. You can now take any of the masks including the Mask of Truth which lets you talk with those stone with the "eye that pears into your soul". New masks also include the Goron Mask, the Zora Mask, and the Gerudo Mask. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE BIGGORON'S SWORD QUEST THINGS TO HAVE DONE: 1. Have up through the water temple completed. Plus, know where Gerudo Valley is, and how to get there. 2. Have Epona. VERY IMPORTANT. Without her, you will not get the sword. Ride her at all times so that she is by you when you need her to travel. 3. A good knowledge of having Epona jump over fences. This is required for speed purposes. 4. A good knowledge of the Hyrule area. This will make for speedy and easy finding of places. THINGS TO DO: (Note: I highly suggest saving after each step, as messing up makes you start all over). 1. Get the Pocket Egg from the Cucco girl in Kakariko village. Wait for it to hatch. 2. Use the chicken (cucco) to waken Talon, who is now sleeping in Kakariko village. 3. Take the chicken back to the Cucco girl and she'll give you Cojiro, a blue chicken. 4. Take Cojiro to a guy in the lost woods (first left at the entrance, just like the skull kid as young Link). He'll give you a mushroom. 5. Move FAST (use Epona). You have a small amount of time to get back to Kakariko village, through the left side of the potion shop, into the witch's potion shop, and showing the mushroom to the witch. 6. She'll give you an 'odd potion'. Take this back to where the boy was, but the Kokiri girl is now. Give the girl the potion. You'll get the poacher's saw. 7. Bring the poacher's saw to the carpenter right outside Gerudo Valley. He'll give you a broken sword. 8. Bring the broken sword to Biggoron. The giant goron (big-goron) who's right at the side of the top of Death Mountain. He'll give you a perscription. 9. Bring the perscription to the Zora king (you unfroze him with blue fire, right?). He'll give you the eyeball frog. 10. It's time to go very fast. Get to the laboratory at Hylia lake (WITHOUT TELEPORTING, WHICH WILL VOID THE TIME ALLOTED IMMEDIATLY). Show the frog to the professor. (Note: VERY VERY HARD PART) 11. You'll get the eye drops from the professor. You now have 4 measly minutes to get to the very top of Death Mountain from Lake Hylia WITHOUT teleporting. I suggest you go as fast as you can. Use Epona. You (as I did), might have to keep trying until you get it right. Show Biggoron the eye drops and he'll give you a claim check. Here's another EASIER way of doing 11. Thanks to Nintendo Guru for this information. "I got a tip from a friend to a huge shortcut for the eyedrops, which I then confirmed myself since I was having trouble. Put on the Goron Tunic before you turn in the prescription because you're going to be playing with fire. Ride to the Hylia Lab and turn in the eyeball frog. As soon as you get the eyedrops, go outside and get on Epona, and ride, not to Kakariko village, but to Kokiri forest. Go into the Lost Woods, go right, left, forward and warp to the goron's city. This won't spoil your eyedrops! Jump down to the floor and go to Darunia's backdoor entrance to the death mountain cavern, then just hang a right, cross the bridge, climb the ladder, and go out the cavern exit that leads straight to the summit with at least a minute to spare!" 12. Wait three or so days and go back to Biggoron. Show him the claim check. 13. He'll happily give you Biggoron's Sword. It's a two-handed sword that is two times as powerful as the master sword. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' and all characters/places/objects that pertain to it are copyright Nintendo of America.
