                                    WHAT IS POKEMON??

Pokemon is a Nintendo Gameboy game made by Game Freak Inc. and Nintendo.  
The goal is to collect and trade monsters called Pokemon.  
So far, I have only collected 90 of the possible 150, but I am writing this 
FAQ to help anyone is needs something that I know.

                                        SECTION 1

1.1:MORE EXPLANATION
In Pokemon,  at a certain age, can get their Pokemon Trainers License.  You take the role 
of a young boy who just got his license.  Your childhood friend, Gary(default name) 
just got his license too, and is now your biggest rival.  Gary's grandfather, Professor 
Oak, is a leading expert on Pokemon.  He gives you both your first Pokemon, and a quest
to complete a Pokedex, an electronic encyclopedia of pokemon. 

1.2:HOW TO PLAY
Playing Pokemon is very simple.  You move around with the control pad, talk to 
people and look at things with A, and cancel with B.  Start brings up this menu...

POKeDEX-Take a look at your Pokedex
POKeMON-Arrange and check your Pokemon's stats, along with using any special abilities.
ITEM-Use an item
YOUR NAME-Look at your money, time, and badges
SAVE-Save your progress
OPTION-Set options such as battle style
EXIT-Exit the menu screen

Battles are purely Menu Based and very easy to use

1.3:INTRO TO POKeMON
In Pokemon, your goal is to collect Pokemon, basically.  To do so you have to 
weaken them by having a Pokemon of yours fight them, then throw a POKe BALL.  Hopefully, 
they will not break out, and you will have yourself a new Pokemon!  Another goal is to 
defeat the Elite Four and become the best Trainer in the world.  To do this, you must 
have a very strong team of Pokemon, and collect all of the badges from gym leaders.  
All Pokemon have strengths and weaknesses and you must learn how to exploit weaknesses 
and use your own strengths to truly become a Pokemon Master.

3.1:CHART OF WEAKNESSES
Use this chart to determine your chance of winning a battle or how effective an attack will 
be.  Find you, or the attack on the side, find the enemy on the top, and find where 
they meet.

3.2:DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RED AND BLUE
As far as I know, the Red and Blue versions of Pokemon are exactly the same, except 
there is a different selection of Pokemon.  All I know for sure is that Meowth, Sandshrew, 
Vulpix, and some others are only in Blue, and Ekans, Mankey, Oddish, and some others 
are only in Red.  Personally I like the Blue Version.

5.1:POWER UPS
There are a few items which raise the abilites of your Pokemon for good.
These items: Carbos, Iron, Protein, Calcium, Rare Candy, PPUP and HPUP
Are extremely useful and should be used very frequently.  There is a limit to the 
benefits though.  Once you have a few Pokemon that you REALLY like, keep using these 
items until the limit is reached.  This will give a small, but very helpful advantage.

5.2:THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION
Many Pokemon have more than one form. For instance, the ever popular Pikachu, evolves 
into Raichu.  Almost always(there may be some special cases), these new forms are 
stronger than the original.  There are three ways to evolve Pokemon.

1st:Level Evolution: Some Pokemon evolve once they reach a certain level.  
For instance, Magikarp evolves into Gyarados at level 20.

2nd:Item Evolution: The Stones evolve a some Pokemon of the same type as the stone, 
such as Pikachu, with a thunderstone, becomes Raichu.

3rd:Trade Evolution: Some Pokemon do not evolve until they are traded, like Kadabra 
does not evolve into Alakazam until he is traded.

Also, Eevee can be changed into a fire, lightning, or water pokemon, depending on 
which stone is used.  Some Pokemon, such as Abra, evolve first by one way, then again 
by another.  Abra evolves into Kadabra at a certain level, then must be traded to 
evolve into Alakazam.

5.3:TMS AND HMS
TMs and HMs are machines that are used to teach Pokemon special techniques.

TMs, of which there are 50, teach a technique once.  This is a technique that can only be 
used in battle,  like Mega Punch or Tri Attack.  These are gone with one use.

HMs, however, teach a special ability that can be used in battle and out of battle.  
These, such as cut, are necessary to get through some areas.  
There are 5 HMs, and HMs can be used as many times as you'd like.

Both TM and HM techniques can only be taught to certain Pokemon, and others cannot use them.
