Extreme ways to kill Emerald and Ruby Weapon By Monetary Dragon Ver 1.0 (first release) Email: Treylane47@aol.com Any Email should have something about FF7 in the title. FF7 is a pretty old game, and by now, most everyone has mastered it. But saying this is quite deceiving. We have all beaten Emerald and Ruby Weapon to a bloody pulp by now, but Iāve decided to take that one step further. If you are simply looking for a way (any way) to kill them, this is not your FAQ. There are many simpler ways to kill the Weapons, these are just for those who want to kill them while grossly handicapped. In this FAQ I present the following: Ways to kill Emerald and Ruby Weapon without a controller A way to kill Emerald and Ruby Weapon with no materia A way to cast any spell/summon as a counter, using 0 MP. Note: throughout the FAQ I will be displaying materia setups. I display them in this fashion: (Materia One)=(Materia Two) Where Materia One and Materia Two are linked together. The ( )=( ) signifies a materia link. First I will explain how to cast spells for 0 MP, as it is required for many of my Weapon strategies here. The name I made for this type of Magic use is Prismatic Magic. Prismatic Magic works like this: Magic Counter=(Spell to be cast) Counter=Mime The Magic Counter will attempt to cast the spell/summon that it is linked to, and the Counter=Mime will mime it, using 0 MP. Just be sure that the Counter=Mime is Īlaterā in your materia setup than the Magic Counter, otherwise you may end up miming and then attempting the spell. The setup should look like this: (Magic Counter)=(Spell to be cast) (Counter)=(Mime) And not like this: (Counter)=(Mime) (Magic Counter)=(Spell to be cast) An example of Prismatic Magic: (Magic Counter)=(FullCure) (Counter)=(Mime) After a character with this setup is hit, he will try to cast FullCure (and succeed if he has enough MP), and immediately Mime. The miming uses 0 MP and works regardless of whether or not the Magic Counter really casted the spell. M-Prismatic Magic M-Prismatic Magic lets you cast a Prismatic spell multiple times, as long as you have the MP for it. The ĪMā stands for Magic, and is a play on the fact that an ĪMā is an upside-down ĪWā. M-Prismatic Magic works like this: (Magic Counter)=(Spell to be cast) (Counter)=(Mime) (Counter)=(Mime) (As many more Counter=mimes as you desire) An example of M-Prismatic Magic: (Magic Counter)=(Knights) (Counter)=(Mime) (Counter)=(Mime) (Counter)=(Mime) Assuming this character starts the battle with 999 MP, the following will happen when he gets hit: Magic Counter will cast Knights, using 250 MP (current MP is 749) Prismatic Knights will cast Knights for 0 MP (current MP is 749) M-Prismatic Knights will cast Knights for 250 MP (current MP is 499) M-Prismatic Knights will cast Knights for 250 MP (current MP is 249) Congratulations, you just cast Knights four times in one round, without really doing anything. Note that the character now no longer has the MP to cast Knights anymore. This whole M-Prismatic setup will revert to a normal Prismatic setup, where only the first Counter=mime will be active. Limitations of Magic Counter: Casting a spell with Magic Counter will not allow you to take advantage of any support links with the spell you are countering with. So if you have: (Magic Counter)=(Knights) (HP Absorb)=(Knights) Casting Knights through Magic Counter will not allow you to regain any HP through HP Absorb. For the situations in this FAQ, the following support materia are of no value: HP Absorb, MP Absorb, MP Turbo, Added Cut, and Steal As Well. Limitations of Counter: (Counter)=(Enemy Skill) is NOT a working link. That means no Counter=Magic Hammer :( Hopefully you understand the Prismatic Magic concept. Now we will apply it to making a mockery of the Weapons. Just make sure you donāt save after killing them, but Iām assuming you know not to do that already. Killing Ruby Weapon with M-Prismatic Knights: Yuffie: Dead the entire battle. No specific equip or materia. Cid: Dead the entire battle. No specific equip or materia. Cloud: Equipped with the Ultima Weapon, a Mystile, and a Ribbon. Cloudās Ultima Weapon should look like this: (Magic+)=(Magic+) (Magic+)=(HP+) (Magic Counter)=(Restore) (Magic Counter)=(Knights) Cloudās Mystile should look like this: (Counter)=(Mime) (Counter)=(Mime) (Counter)=(Mime) Notes: The three materia at the beginning of the Ultima Weapon are Magic Plusses, not MP Plusses. It is assumed that Cloud has 9999 HP and 999 MP for this battle. If you have less than that, feel free to replace any Magic Plusses with either HP+ or MP+. Cloud should be in the Sadness status ailment so he receives less damage. You can do this by giving him a Tranquilizer or two while in the field menu. ----Very important---- The Restore materia linked with the first Magic Counter *Must* be at Level 3. When Restore is at Level 3, the Ībestā spell it can cast is Regen, and this is the spell you want the Magic Counter to cast. Having a mastered Restore will get you Cure3 instead of Regen. Trust me, youāre gonna want Regen more than youāll want Cure3. The battle goes as follows: ::Ruby Weapon buries his hands:: Current MP is 999 ::Ruby Weapon somehow attacks and hits Cloud:: Current MP is 999 ::Cloud casts Regen for 30 MP:: Current MP is 969 ::Cloud casts Knights for 250 MP:: Current MP is 719 ::Prismatic Knights:: Current MP is 719 ::M-Prismatic Knights:: Current MP is 469 ::M-Prismatic Knights:: Current MP is 219 Now Cloud is in Regen, and by the time he is done tossing all that Knights at Ruby, he should have all his HP back. ::Ruby Weapon somehow attacks and hits Cloud:: ::Cloud casts Regen for 30 MP:: Current MP is 189 ::Cloud fails to cast Knights:: Current MP is 189 ::Cloud casts Knights for 0 MP:: Current MP is 189 ::Cloud fails to cast Knights:: Current MP is 189 ::Cloud fails to cast Knights:: Current MP is 189 Even though the Magic Counter and M-Prismatics arenāt really functioning, they are still serving the purpose of giving Cloud plenty of time to Regen. Cloud will continually counter with Knights, using only 30 MP per round (for Regen). This gives him up to 7 more Knights after the first set of four. 11 Knights of the Round is plenty to kill Ruby Weapon. The only Īproblemā with this setup is that Ruby Weapon has an attack that destroys a percentage of your current MP. This isnāt too much of a problem later on in the battle, but if it is the first attack he uses on you, you might be seeing the Game Over screen. I have beaten him with this setup even with him doing an MP drain as his first attack, so it IS possible. Killing Emerald Weapon with M-Prismatic Knights: Note: The following setup must be exact. Switching the Īlocationsā of characters involved in this setup will complicate the order in which counters take place, and can complicate Final Attack. This can have deadly consequences. Yuffie: Conformer, Mystile, Ribbon Yuffieās Conformer should look like this: ( )=( ) ( )=( ) ( )=(HP+) (Sneak Attack)=(Knights) Yuffieās Mystile should look like this: (Final Attack)=(Knights) (Magic Counter)=(Knights) (Counter)=(Mime) Cloud: Ultima Weapon, Wizard Bracelet, Circlet Cloudās Ultima Weapon should look like this: (Magic+)=(Underwater) (Sneak Attack)=(Mime) (HP+)=(HP<-->MP) (Final Attack)=(Phoenix) Cloudās Wizard Bracelet should look like this: (Magic Counter)=(Knights) (Counter)=(Mime) (Counter)=(Mime) (Counter)=(Mime) Cid: Venus Gospel, Mystile, Ribbon Cidās Venus Gospel should look like this: ( )=( ) ( )=( ) ( )=(HP+) (Sneak Attack)=(Mime) Cidās Mystile should look like this: (Final Attack)=(Phoenix) (Magic Counter)=(Knights) (Counter)=(Mime) Notes: Check again to make sure that your characters are in the right Īorderā. All of the characters in this setup are assumed to have 9999 HP and 999 MP, exept for Cloud, who should have 999 HP and 9999 MP, due to his HP<-->MP. If Yuffie or Cid have less than this, feel free to put HP+ and MP+ into the empty slots in their weapons. Otherwise, just fill them up with as many Magic+ as you have. Cloudās max HP and MP shouldnāt really matter- he will definitely have enough MP to finish the fight and his HP shouldnāt matter because he will die in one direct attack anyway. Yuffie and Cid should both be in the ĪSadnessā status ailment so that they take less damage. Just give them a Tranquilizer or two while in the Field Menu. The purpose of Yuffie and Cidās Ribbons is to keep them in the ĪSadnessā effect even after they die and are resurrected by Phoenix. This isnāt really that important, and Peace Rings can be used instead to get the same effect. OK, thatās about it! Now, get into the fight. The battle should go as follows: ::Yuffie casts Knights via Sneak Attack for 250 MP:: ::Cloud mimes Knights via Sneak Attack for 0 MP:: ::Cid mimes Knights via Sneak Attack for 0 MP:: Note: Even if Yuffie fails to do the Sneak Attack, (chances of this are less than %20 in my experience) you donāt need to worry. This battle revolves around counters. The Sneak Attacks are really only in there for fun, not because an Īextraā 3 Knights of Round are needed. The only attacks Emerald Weapon is capable of doing in this battle are Emerald Shoot and Emerald Beam. If Emerald Weapon does an Emerald Shoot: This will either hit Yuffie or Cid, or it will hit Cloud. If it hits Yuffie or Cid, and that character survives and has 250+ MP, Emerald will get hit with 2 Knights. If they have less than 250 MP, they will still be able to use Prismatic Knights. If they die, Final Attack may kick in if they have enough MP, casting either Knights (for Yuffie) or Phoenix (for Cid). If it hits Cloud, Cloud will die and be resurrected (along with any other dead characters). Cloud can be resurrected up to five times this way before Final Attack stops functioning. If Emerald Weapon does an Emerald Beam: All characters will be hit, but they will all survive. Emerald Beam hits for a percentage of the targetās HP, so the target can never die from it. If Yuffie and Cid will counter with Knights as if they were just hit with an Emerald Beam. Thatās at least 2 Knights, up to 4 if enough MP is available. Now Cloud starts countering... Cloud will cast Knights through Magic Counter, Cloud will cast Prismatic Knights, Cloud will cast M-Prismatic Knights, Cloud will cast M-Prismatic Knights again. Cloud himself will cast 4 Knights of Round. MP isnāt an issue for him because of the HP<-->MP. Add that with Yuffieās and Cidās counters, and you have at least six Knights, up to eight! Thatās a LOT of damage! Before long, Emerald will be toasted, without you having to lift a finger. Note: It is possible to kill Emerald in two rounds with this setup. If all the Sneak Attacks work, then Emerald does an Emerald Shoot on Cid, then Emerald does an Emerald Beam, he can and will die in two rounds. Killing Ruby Weapon with Prismatic FullCure: Yuffie: Dead the entire battle. No specific materia or equip. Cloud: Dead the entire battle. No specific materia or equip. Barret: Missing Score, Wizard Bracelet, Ribbon Barretās Missing Score should look like this: (Elemental)=(Alexander) (Luck+)=(Luck+) (Luck+)=(HP+) (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) Barretās Wizard Bracelet should look like this: (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) (Magic Counter)=(FullCure) (Counter)=(Mime) As you can see, this is a very destructive setup. When Barret gets hit, he will do six counter attacks and cast Prismatic FullCure. His attacks have elemental Holy, and about half of them are critical hits. Thereās no need for an overview of the battle here, just sit back and do Counter Attacks. If Barret is strong enough, Ruby should go down in a few hours. The only things to worry about are that the materia in the Missing Score is all mastered (for more damage), and that your Playstation is well-ventilated (the true key to this battle). Killing Emerald Weapon with Prismatic FullCure: Cloud: Ultima Weapon, Mystile Cloudās Ultima Weapon should look like this: (HP+)=(Luck+) (Luck+)=(Luck+) (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) Cloudās Mystile should look like this: (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) (Magic Counter)=(FullCure) (Counter)=(Mime) Tifa: Premium Heart, Minerva Band Tifaās Premium Heart should look like this: ( )=( ) ( )=( ) ( )=( ) (Underwater)=(HP+) Tifaās Minerva Band should look like this: (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) (Magic Counter)=(FullCure) (Counter)=(Mime) Barret: Missing Score, Mystile Barretās Missing Score should look like this: (Fire)=(Ice) (Fire)=(HP+) (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) Barretās Mystile should look like this: (Counter Attack)=(Counter Attack) (Magic Counter)=(FullCure) (Counter)=(Mime) This is just an Emerald Weapon variation of how to kill Ruby with Prismatic FullCure. Just sit back and do Counter Attacks. Emerald will crumble in a little while. Notes: The Fire and Ice in Barretās Missing Score are just there to be mastered materia, to increase his damage. Just put whatever you have mastered in those three slots. The only thing in this battle that could kill any of your characters is Emeraldās Aire Tam Storm (materia storm). It does 1111 damage for every piece of materia you have equipped. For Cloud and Barret, this is 9999 damage, which is instant death. Tifa, with only 8 materia, will only take 8888 damage. As long as her max HP is greater than 8888, you have nothing to worry about in this battle, because Tifa will *always* be bouncing back. Now, youāve just done everything there is to do with materia (at least, as far as Weapon-slaying is concerned). Are you ready to shed the almighty crutch of materia and pick up the controller? Killing Emerald Weapon with no materia. Yuffie: Conformer, Zeidrich, Champion Belt Limit: Doom of the Living Cloud: Ultima Weapon, Zeidrich, Sprint Shoes Limit: Omnislash Cid: Venus Gospel, Zeidrich, Champion Belt Limit: Highwind Note: It is expected that everyone in your party is at level 99. OK, just checking :) If you for some reason didnāt steal Zeidrichs from Rude, you can use Adaman Bangles instead. Go to Wutai, and fight the turtles in the shore zones. You can steal Adaman Bangles from them, which is the second strongest armor against physical attacks. Everyone should have their limit bars maxed out before entering battle. Everyone should be in the ĪFuryā status ailment so that their limit bars go up twice as fast. You can do this by giving each character a Hyper or two while in the Field Menu. Youāll also want to go into Config and make sure that the controller is set to initial, that ATB is Active, and that the battle speed is maxed. Items: You will need at least 15 Megalixirs in order to hope to kill Emerald. Get Megalixirs by killing Master Tonberrys. Be sure to not steal from them, or they have no chance of dropping them. You will need at least 4 Hero Drinks in order to hope to kill Emerald. If you have gotten every Hero Drink through the course of the game, you should be fine. If you havenāt, or you simply want more, go to the icicle area and catch yourself a Wonderful chocobo. Feed it 99 Sylkis Greens and race it until it reaches Class B. Then save the game. Go to race your chocobo. If ĪHero Drinkā doesnāt show up as one of the possible prizes, just keep resetting until it does. When it does, win the race. If you win the Hero Drink, save it. Otherwise, reset again. Hero Drinks are most common in class B. You will also want a bunch of Phoenix Downs and Hypers to revive any fallen characters and put them back into ĪFuryā. Just buy some. Now, the battle: For starters, have everyone do their limits on Emerald. Now have Cloud use a Megalixir and start fighting: Power-up Mode: When the battle starts, youāre gonna want to suck down those Hero Drinks so Yuffie and Cidās limit breaks have some punch behind them. Yuffie uses a Hero Drink on herself Cloud uses a Megalixir Cid uses a Hero Drink on himself Keep this up, using limit breaks when they become available, until you run out of Hero Drinks. Offense Mode: When you have used all of your Hero Drinks, and Emerald Weaponās lasers arenāt open. This is your chance to hurt him. Yuffie attacks Cloud uses a Megalixir Cid attacks Keep this up, using limit breaks when they become available, until Emerald Weaponās lasers open and he does an Emerald Beam. Defense Mode: Any or all of Emeraldās lasers are open. The battle becomes a fight for survival. Yuffie uses a Megalixir Cloud uses a Megalixir Cid uses a Megalixir Keep this up until Yuffieās limit breaks. Then have her do a Doom of the Living on Emerald. It should destroy about half of Emeraldās lasers. Then keep up the Megalixir use until everyoneās limits are broken. Then have Yuffie do another Doom of the Living. It should clean up the last of the lasers so that Emerald takes full damage from the Omnislash and Highwind that will follow. Now youāre back into Offense Mode. If you keep this up, Emerald will fall with a little luck. Note: While Emerald Weaponās lasers are open, he can do the Aire Tam Storm. Because your characters have no materia, it will hit everyone for zero damage :) The biggie: Killing Ruby Weapon with no materia Youāre going to need a lot of preparation for this battle. Go to the Īmeltdown reactorā in Gongaga and Morph Heavy Tanks until you get Cloudās natural Strength to be 155. The Ultima Weapon will bring that up to 255, which is max. Then go to the sunken airplane. Morph everything. Make Cloudās stats really high. Be sure not to neglect the little hallway, the enemies there give you Speed Source and Luck Source, which are the most important stats for this battle. Before you think of taking on Ruby, all of your stats should be 120+. Oh, and, Cloud should be on level 99. Just checking. After Cloudās stats have been blown out of proportion, youāre gonna have to hunt down some items. Youāll need the following: 99 X-Potions 99 Dazers at least 4 Hero Drinks at least 1 Vaccine You should have at least one Vaccine if you have been picking up the items you find throughout the game. If you donāt have one, Morph a Dragon Zombie in the final dungeon. If you feel you need more Hero Drinks, race chocobos the way I described earlier. To get Dazers: Use a Steal As Well-Morph on the Bound Fats in the Ancient City. You find them on the screen with the annoying shell staircase that you jump up, just before where you find the Magic+ materia. To get X-Potions: There is a ladybug-like enemy in the mountains of Wutai that always drops an X-Potion, and you can fight up to three of them at a time. You can also Morph the Custom Sweepers around Midgar, but that takes a while longer. Got everything? Now we abuse the gameās config screen. From the field menu, go into Config. Set Controller to Initial (as opposed to Memory) Set ATB to Wait (as opposed to Recommended or Active) Set Battle speed to maximum (the indicator is farthest to the left) Youāre going to want Battle Message to be about average (indicator is in the middle of the bar) OK, now we prepare for the actual fight. Put Cloud in Fury by giving him a Hyper or two. Kill off the other two characters before the fight. Have Cloudās limit be Omnislash and his limit bar full. Cloud should be in the front row. Equip him with the Ultima Weapon, a Mystile, and a Tetra-Elemental (Morph a Cactuar if you need a Tetra-Elemental). Now get on your Gold Chocobo (or Highwind) and bump into Ruby. As soon as the battle starts, Ruby will place his hands in the ground. As he does this, use a Vaccine. Ruby will now be able to take damage and Cloud will be immune to statuses. Ruby Weapon will then somehow attack you. As SOON as your ATB fills up, open the Item Menu and wait to see what Ruby does. After Rubyās attack is completed, his ATB will stay at nothing due to ATB: Wait. It is now your move. If you have taken damage (You have been hit by a Ruby Ray (physical attack that always hits), a physical claw (destroys a percentage of your current HP), or he has cast a spell (either Ultima or Shadow Flare) that has HIT you, in spite of your Mystile), use an X-Potion. Then open your Item Menu as soon as the command window pops up.. same as above. Keep on repeating this until you get by one of Rubyās attacks without taking any damage. If you have not taken damage (you have been hit by the magic-draining claw or one of Rubyās spells (either Ultima or Shadow Flare) has missed you because of your Mystile, or you have been hit by a Ruby Flame that HEALS you because of your Tetra-Elemental), use a Hero Drink on yourself. Then go back into the Item Menu as soon as possible, etc. If you have not taken damage and you have used all of your Hero Drinks, itās time to start attacking him. Use a Dazer on him to put him in the ĪStopā status ailment. Now just hold the circle (selection) button down. As soon as your ATB fills up, you will automatically select attack and select Ruby Weapon (the body, not the claws) as your target. What you do now depends on whether or not you Omnislashed him: If your limit bar is full, you will be doing the Omnislash dance. After the attack is done, open your Item Menu as soon as possible and wait for his next attack, like you have already been doing this whole battle. If your limit bar is not full, you will be doing a normal attack. In this case, keep holding the button down. When your ATB fills up again, you can still get another full attack in before Ruby is Īunstoppedā and can react. (then you go into the Īwait to see what Ruby doesā mode again). Keep this up and Ruby will fall. Do not get discouraged if your attacks do very little damage. You have 99 Dazers and 99 X-Potions. You can outlast him. My normal attack does about 5700 damage on him, and my Omnislash does about 2700 with each hit. I can beat him in about a half an hour. If youāre really discouraged about your damage, go and win another Hero Drink or two, following my Class B racing method above. Special Thanks to: Kao Megura.
