The Characters >=- Crono - The boy that's the hero of the story - From 1000 AD Crono is the kid that I guess is a mute because he never says anything. He's the main character in the game. He starts out in Truce Village and wants to go and have fun at the Millennial Fair. But when Marle disappears through the Telepod, that's the beginning of the race to beat time and save the world from Lavos, the cosmic invader from deep space that is eating the planet up. Magic type: Lightning Weapon: Samurai sword Marle - The Princess of Guardia formally named Nadia - From 1000 AD Marle, ever since she was born, has always wanted to be a normal person, just like every other kid. But the regal standing she holds omits her from doing that. So, against her father's will (her mother died when she was a little girl), she sneaks out of the castle and bumps into Crono at the Fair. Little that she knows that her life from sitting around at a castle will change into a battle-ridden life in an instant! Magic type: Water Weapon: Crossbow Lucca - The brainy, modest inventor friend of Crono's - From 1000 AD She might be a snob and brainy, but she is a good friend. But this whole adventure would've never happened if it wasn't for her screwing Marle up in the Telepod device and sent her back to 600 AD. Since she got Marle into it, she then also got her out of it. As said in the game, however, she'd trade her smarts for Marle's importance any day. Magic type: Fire Weapon: Gun Frog - The man named Glenn who was changed into a frog - From 600 AD Frog was once named Glenn, before Magus transformed him into a frog. He was also the brother of Cyrus, the best soldier Guardia had ever seen. Though Cyrus kept on insisting that he enlist, he kept on thinking he'd never make the cut. But, in reality, he was better with a sword than Cyrus himself was! Now, 10 years after the transformation (and a repaired Masamune), he seeks revenge on Magus. Magic type: Water Weapon: Broad sword Robo - The friendly, polite robot - From 2300 AD Robo, once an important robot in the war between humans and machines, was broken when the Day of Lavos came in 1999 AD. Ever since, he has been a heap of metal, doing nothing. But here along comes Lucca and activates him. He is a loyal member, but also thinks too critically and thinks everything is "irrational". He helps the party get the gate that leads them to the End of Time. His former name was Prometheus and his serial number is R66-Y. Magic type: Shadow (Laser Spin only) Weapon: Arm Ayla - The prehistoric warrior woman - From 650000000 BC Ayla, the most powerful person in her tribe, is leading a battle between them and the Reptites, the lizard-like creatures. She has no magic, but her physical power is virtually unstoppable. Most of her friends are real wimps, though she thinks they're strong. Also, the trading place is a great place to get some stuff for free (in Ioka Village). Magic type: None (Physical) Weapon: Fists Magus - The "One who created Lavos..." yeah, right! - From 600 AD Magus, who was once Janus in 12000 BC, was drawn into a portal and taken to 600 AD when the Mammon Machine took Schala, his mom, to Lavos. When he followed, the three Gurus, who were there too, and himself were drawn into portals taking them to different time periods. Magus has the most powerful magic, and has been living with Ozzie ever he landed there. About him "making Lavos", he only summoned him to make revenge, not making him. Magic type: Shadow Weapon: Scythe ____________________________________________________________________________ -=< 2. NPCs >=- The NPCs (Non-Player Characters) play an integral role in the game, but you don't control them. That's how they got the name. All the characters above are PCs (Player Characters). Crono's mom - 1000 AD She wakes you up in the morning, and gives you allowance. She's one of the "worry-wart" type of people. She worries about everything! King Guardia - 1000 AD Marle's father worries about Marle when she's gone. Also, he wouldn't let her go with Crono and Lucca because of her regal standing! Even the Chancellor claims that the King killed the Queen! But in the end they make up. Chancellor - 1000 AD After you come back from 600 AD, just like in 600 AD, he's kidnapped by Yakra (this one XIII) and poses for him. In the end, Yakra gets killed both times. Otherwise, he's a nice guy. Taban - 1000 AD Taban is Lucca's father. He makes specially-designed stuff for her. They're the two smartest people in Truce. Fritz - 1000 AD If you save Fritz in the dungeon in Guardia and stop by his shop in Truce, he'll give you 10 Mid Ethers. Melchior - 1000 AD and 12000 BC Melchior is the swordsmith in 1000 AD and a Guru in 12000 BC. He repairs the Masamune for you. Drop by any time to get some advice. Porre Mayor - 1000 AD This is the greedy, rich guy that steals the Moon Stone and claims that he doesn't have it. Only a kind act in the past will change his mind. Queen Leene - 600 AD The Queen is kidnapped by the Chancellor (actually Yakra). After that, she just sits back with the King and does nothing. Toma - 600 AD You can visit him in various cafes in each of the towns. Eventually, when he get to Choras, he tells you to pour his pop on his grave. That way you'll find the Giant's Claw which holds the Rainbow Shell. King Guardia - 600 AD He usually just sits back, buy he orders the guards to get the Rainbow Shell, but he is also nice. Chancellor - 600 AD He's the one who transforms into Yakra and kidnaps the Queen. Beat him and get the real Chancellor back. Carpenter - 600 AD He's the one who fixes the Northern Ruins for you. Magus - 600 AD and 12000 BC Magus is feared in the Middle Ages and is to believed to be the creator of Lavos, but actually summoned him for revenge of sending him to this time period. Then, at the North Cape in 12000 BC, you can beat him to free the curse on Frog or take him in as an ally. Ozzie - 600 AD Magus's main henchman. He tries to set traps that fails, and ends up falling into his own trap. Then later you deal with more of that same stuff in his own Fort. Cyrus - 600 AD Cyrus is the brave knight leader with his brother, Glenn (now Frog). He was killed by Magus in 590 AD, and at the same time, Magus turned Glenn into his current form, a frog. Search for his grave in Event 2. Masa & Mune - 600 AD and 12000 BC You see these guys many times during the game. They are the two parts to the Masamune. They show up in the Ocean Palace and when you get the Masamune. Fight them early in the game to get the broken sword part. Fiona - 600 AD Fiona's the one who's trying to protect the forest from the fighting. She fails, but with your help in beating Retinite and Robo's help replanting the forest, you're able to restore it. Tata - 600 AD Tata's the boy who picks up the Hero's Medal in the cafe and now is believed to be the legendary Hero. But, after his first skirmish in the Denadoro Mountains, he runs off and gives the medal to you. Atropos XR - 2300 AD Atropos is Robo's former girlfriend, before he shut down and Mother Brain reprogrammed her. Now she wants to beat Robo up! Mother Brain - 2300 AD She's the mastermind of the future. Also, in her dome, they're killing humans. To stop that, beat her up. R-Series - 2300 AD These six robots were Robo's former buddies, but they beat him up because they think he's a traitor for bringing humans into the dome. Beat up those "cocky boxes of bolts" and get Robo back. Son of Sun - 2300 AD He's the keeper of the ancient Sun Stone, which is now the Moon Stone because all of the energy is drained from it. Get it from him and put it in the Sun Keep. Bethalsar & Nu - 2300 AD Bethalsar is the creator of the Epoch Time Machine, or known as "The Wings of Time". But, when he gets too old, he programs his memory into a Nu, and that acts as him. Johnny - 2300 AD Johnny is that hot-talking, racer dude from Lab 32. Race him in the Jet Bike and win to gain access to the other side of the continent. Doan - 2300 AD Doan is a descendant of the Info Center manager. He lives in the Arris Dome. He tells you that the center is down below. You give him a seed and have him learn the word "healthy". Azala - 65000000 BC Azala is the leader of the Reptites, the race the humans are fighting against. He steals the Gate Key from you and tries to use the Black Tyrano to destroy you. Kino - 65000000 BC Kino is Ayla's wimp of a friend. He's so stupid that he's the one who stole your Gate Key in the first place! He's second-in-charge of the village. If there were no Ayla, the village would be doomed. Dactyls - 65000000 BC The Dactyls fly you around the map in 65000000 BC. They are your first flying means of transportation in the game. Queen Zeal - 12000 BC The Queen is real mean to everyone, and wants everything for herself. She builds the Ocean Palace and takes the Mammon Machine down to get close to Lavos. In the end, you beat heron top of the Black Omen. Schala - 12000 BC Schala owns the pendant which opens many of the doors in the Zeal Palace. When you power up Marle's pendant, everyone gets suspicious of you. She's a nice person, it's just her mother (Zeal) forces her to go that way. Janus - 12000 BC Janus is Schala's child. He has only one friend, his cat. But when he goes to find his mother in the Ocean Palace, he gets thrown in a time portal to 600 AD, and then is known after that as Magus. Gaspar - 12000 BC and End of Time Gaspar is the Guru of Time. He too got thrown in a portal, but his led to the End of Time, where there is nothing. He then doesn't give out his name and is known as just the old man. Dalton - 12000 BC Dalton is Zeal's liege. He tries to stop you many, many times with his Golems. But he fears to me immortal, and after you beat the Golem, he runs away. Spekkio - The End of Time Spekkio is the Master of War. He's the one who teaches you magic. Each time you beat him, he gives you a prize set, each progressing one getting better. Lavos - 1999 AD Lavos is the huge, spiky monster that's eating up the planet. Beat him up, and depending where, when, and how you do, you'll get one of the many, many endings of the game. ____________________________________________________________________________ -=< 3. Steps Description/Walkthrough >=- *NOTE* Here's an explanation of how I'm formatting this: -< Step # - Step Name >- Items: Suggested Party: Place - Time Period What you do: Any time when there is a party change, I'll stick in a notice. Also, if there's a boss battle, look in the section "Beating the Bosses" (Number 16). -< Step 1 - The Millennial Fair >- Items found: 1 Tonic, 300G, 1 Power Tab Suggested Party - Crono Truce Village - 1000 AD This is where the game begins (obviously). When you get up and your mom stops talking, talk to her and she'll give you 200G. Head out the door and go to the Forest. Guardia Forest - 1000 AD Here, in the forest, fight a few enemies to gain some experience. Also, be sure to get the Power Tab in the southeast corner of the forest. Then head back to the village. Truce Village - 1000 AD If you're badly hurt, go back to your house and hop in the bed. Then head to the Mayor's house. They'll tell you some hints and tips for the game. Remember to get the Tonic and 100G in the treasure chests. Also, search all the houses for any info or hints, then go to the Fair in Leene Square, to the north. Leene Square - 1000 AD There is lots of stuff to do. But before you do anything else, go up a screen and meet Marle. Be sure to help her up! Take her with you. Suggested Party: Crono, Marle Here are all of the things you should check out: 1) In the first area, to the west there is a strength testing area. Hit the bell and receive one silver point. 2) Also, in the first area, near the center, there is a man in a blue outfit (Melchior). You can buy weapons from him. But don't try to sell Marle's pendant. If you do, something bad might happen later. 3) Between the strength test and Melchior, there two tents, one purple and one blue. The purple one is the item tent and the blue one is the armory. 4) Just to the east of Melchior, there is a guessing booth. There is a race going on, and you guess the winner. If you're right, you receive 20 Silver Points. 5) To the east of that, there is a purple tent. This is Norstein Bekkler's place. You need Silver Points to play these. Play the 10-point game to win some cat food. The 40-point one wins you a Crono clone (needed later in the game), and the 80-point game bags you a cat to go with the one at home. 6) Now, to the second area. In the far west part, there is a battle practice robot named Gato. Beat him and get 10 EPs (Experience Points) and 15 Silver Points. Either this or the forest is the best place to build levels this early in the game. 7) After you exit Gato's area and head up the steps, you'll find a purple tent. Here you can trade 10 Silver Points for 50G. 8) Next, down the other set of steps, there is a soda guzzling contest. Press "A" as fast as you can to drink 8 cans of pop in like 30 seconds! 9) If you saw it, there is a cat near the Gato area and a little girl near the soda area. Take the cat to the girl. 10) Then, go up from the soda area and there is a prehistoric dancing area. Join in with the fun and make yourself look stupid! It's pretty fun, but it has no impact on the game. But you'll be able to dance later in the game. 11) When you're ready to head to the Telepod, Marle will stop you so she can get some candy. 12) Finally, the Telepod. This is what takes you to another time period. Be sure to not eat the food in the pink scarf near the Gato area. This will also effect a later event. Hop into the Telepod because nobody else there wants to. When Marle goes in, she'll get sent back in time to 600 AD. Be sure to hang on tight for your first time warp! -< Step 2 - The Queen has Returned >- Items: Power Glove, 2 Power Tabs, 2 Tonics, Shelter, 100G, 2 Ethers, Bronze Mail, Red Vest Suggested Party: Crono Truce Canyon - 600 AD When you get thrown out of the portal, you land in a place you've never seen before. Actually, this was what Leene Square looked like in 600 AD. It was just mountains! Anyway, get the Power Glove and the Tonic and leave. Truce Village - 600 AD You emerge from the Canyon not knowing where you are. Talk to everyone in the village to get an idea of what's happening. Also, be sure to talk to Toma and buy him a drink. He'll give you some info. Stock up on items. Then head to the Forest. Guardia Forest - 600 AD Go through the forest to go through the castle. Fight all of the enemies you can to get more experience. And don't forget the Power Tab. It's in the same approximate spot as it was in 1000 AD. Also, be sure to look in rustling bushes. One of them has a creature that pops out of it and drops a Shelter. Then head to the Castle. Guardia Castle - 600 AD As you enter the castle, you're hastily greeted by two extremely rude guards. Then, here comes the queen, telling them to mind their manners and that you're a friend of hers. Then she giggles. This is when you get suspicious. Queens usually don't giggle in situations like that. Head up the stairs and talk to the king. To the left is his quarters and to the right is the queen's quarters. If you go back down the steps, to the left is the knights' quarters and the right is the dining area. Head up the queen's quarters steps and pick any items on the way. When you get in there, talk to the queen. Then you find out that it's Marle! You two start talking, but something weird starts happening to her! She mysteriously disappears! You walk back downstairs just to be greeted by a huffing, puffing, tired Lucca. She explains the situation to you. You find out that Marle is actually Princess Nadia of Guardia! And also, if Queen Leene (the queen in 600 AD) isn't found, Marle was going to die! You accept her in your party and leave the castle. But before you do, make sure to look everywhere in the castle for any treasures. You'll never know what you'll find! Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca After you leave the castle, take some time to build levels for Lucca. You can see why when you look at it. Also, buy and equip the Dart Gun if you haven't already. When you get her to about level 5 or so, head to the Cathedral. -< Step 3 - The Queen is Gone! >- Items: 100G, Steel Saber, 3 Tonics, 2 Ethers, Mid Ether, Maiden Suit, Defender, Naga-ette Bromide, Revive, Speed Belt, Heal, Shelter, Iron Sword, Power Tab Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca Cathedral - 600 AD When you enter the Cathedral, you can talk to the nuns, but they don't give you information at all. Instead, search for a sparkle in front of the altar. Pick it up. It's a Guardia-crested hair pin! Then all the nuns transform into Naga-ette creatures and attack you. Fire Whirl works best on them. After you beat them, however, another sneaks up on you and attacks! But a frog comes in and does away with it! When you meet the frog, aptly named Frog, Lucca is really nervous. But she decides to suck it in and go along with him to help save the queen. You look around for a door, but you can't find one. But play the organ in the corner of the room. That'll open a door for you to go up. Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Frog As you can see, there'll be plenty of monsters to beat here, and that is good because you need experience. I suggest being anywhere between level 10 and 12 when you beat Yakra, at the end of this place. Fight every thing you see. In the hallway, keep going left until you see a doorway near a chest. Go in it and up the stairs. Then enter the room at the top. Inside there are three chests. Take them all. But before you leave, check out the cabinet on the far left with a odd-looking white object on it. Open it. You'll need the Bromide later in the game to get something. Beat the guards and leave the room. Not going down the stairs, keep going up. You'll find a Steel Saber in the chest. But it looks like you can't go any farther because of the spikes. But there's a concept in almost all RPGs called skirking. I'll be using that word a lot, so you'll better find out what that means. That's when you see a wall, but you can actually go "in" it. If you see a wall, just because it looks like it's blocking the way, it doesn't mean that it won't let you through. Anyway, skirk the wall and hit the skull switch on the wall. Go inside the room. Inside, there are two captured guards that's going to be on tonight's menu! Talk to them and find out some info. Then search the pot that's twinkling on the left side. There'll be a Power Tab in it. Exit the room. Next. go back down the steps this time and head over the steps on the right side of the area, going across the center aisle. Remember, fight as many battles as you can. In the first door, there is a group of monsters eating. One is talking about how the soldiers they caught looked yummy. Another is talking about you disguising as a human. Then the third one leaves after a while to "pose as a human". Suspiciously, you follow him. You find out that there is a guard and the king and queen in the next room. But that couldn't be that easy. Skirking the wall, head into the room at the right. You hear an awful chanting going on. It's talking about someone named Magus. Take the items in the two chests and leave that room. Then you loot the chests in the next room. But before you leave, they ask you to stay a while and turn into monsters. Beat them and head back down the stairs. This time, go down the center aisle. Also beat these monsters for more experience. In the next area, go up the stairs. Grab the Shelter and save at the save point. Then go down the flight of stairs to the left. They'll collapse and you'll slide down them. Fight the guard and go up. Here, first navigate through the bats and hit the switch. Then fight the bats. Go up and fight that battle. Then head right, opening the chests on the way. Also, remember where a note is on the wall. Look up when you're opening the chests. The note says "You can't leave" or something like that. Fight the battle then after the chests. Then go down and hit the switch and fight the battle. After you hit the switch, the spikes should lower. Next, go down, fight the battle, then head up the stairs. Enter the center room that has spikes in it and fight that battle to gain access to the chest that holds the Iron Sword, one of Frog's weapons. But more importantly, you'll be able too play the organ and open another door. Go down either set of stairs and go to the note I mentioned earlier. Head in that newly-formed door. Fight the next two battles in the hallway, save (and also use a Shelter), and go up to have the battle with Yakra. The only tips that I can give you are to leave Lucca standing there while Crono and Frog use their X Strike continuously. X Strike does the most damage on him of your capabilities right now. After you beat him, open the chests, which one of them holds the real Chancellor, and go to Queen Leene who will take you back to the Castle. Guardia Castle - 600 AD Queen Leene and King Guardia will thank you for saving her life. But Frog thinks he let the queen down, and he hangs his head and walks off. But before you go chasing him, remember about Marle? Head up the Queen's room and retrieve her because she'll reappear. When you fetch her, she'll tell you her real name, Nadia. Then go and talk to Frog. Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle After Frog leaves, head over to the Canyon. Guardia Forest - 600 AD This is just a pass-through, so there aren't any major events. However, get another Shelter by scaring that monster and get the Power Tab if you haven't already. Truce Canyon - 600 AD Remember where the portal was? Go there. Lucca will take you back to the present by using her new invention, the Gate Key. Now go through the portal and head back to the present. -< Step 4 - We're Back! >- Items: Power Tab Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle Leene Square - 1000 AD You appear back in the present, relieved that you made it home. Lucca goes ahead and goes home, and Marle wants you to escort her home. Guardia Forest - 1000 AD Suggested Party: Crono, Marle The only reason the Power Tab is on the list of items is if you didn't get it. Just another pass-through, though. Guardia Castle - 1000 AD You come to the castle, but immediately you are surrounded by guards! Marle tries to stop them, but the Chancellor has more power, so they detain you and take you to court. -< Step 5 - The Trial >- Items: 3 Ethers, 8 Mid Tonics, 3 Shelters, 1500G, Lode Sword, Bronze Mail Suggested Party: Crono Guardia Courtroom (in the Castle) - 1000 AD Before I start here, I'd definitely have to say that this is one of the worst trials I've ever seen! They charge you with abduction of royalty all on account of an accident! They bring in witnesses. Your behavior in the fair, as I've said before, has a big impact here. Here are the thins you should've done: 1) Help Marle up when you bump into her. 2) Not eating the old man's food near Gato. 3) Get the little girl her cat back. 4) Not trying to sell Marle's pendant at the fair. 5) Let her browse at the candy stand. 6) Say that her fortune means nothing to you. These are the keys to winning it big. No matter, however, since the game is programmed this way, you'll always be found not guilty. But the court still sentences you to three days in solitary confinement. When the Chancellor takes you down, however, he tells a lie and says you're getting killed in three days! Then off to your cell you go. Guardia Jail - 1000 AD When you wake up, there is a pink thing on your bed. Pick it up. It's an ether. Also, take a drink from the cup near the window to regain all your HPs and MPs. Now, from here you have two choices: 1) Sit there for three days and be a good little boy, and some guards will take you to the guillotine, where they'll execute you. But Lucca comes in and stops it! Or: 2) Make noise and break out of the cell. What you do in each: 1) First a note: There are eight stairways in two areas. They'll each be numbered and lettered so it will be easier to tell where to go. Here they are: 1A) The stairway that leads you out of your cell 1B) The stairway that leads you to a room with four chests in a room and an Omicrone battle 1C) Stairs that take you to the part of the wall that there's a hole in 1D) Leads you to a connector area that connects area 1 and area 2, where the guillotine is Here's a diagram: 1C -------- --------- 1D \ / ----- Battle ------ / \ 1A -------- --------- 1B 2A) Leads to the connector area 2B) Nothing special but a dead body 2C) The hole in the wall that takes you the other hole in the wall 2D) Takes you to the prison entrance Diagram: 2C ------- --------- 2D \ / ------ Battle ------ / \ 2B ------- --------- 2A Now, back to the walkthrough: If you wait for Lucca to save your life, you have sit for three days (about 30 secs. in real life) and wait for you to be carried off to the execution area, the guillotine. When they are ready to chop your head off, here comes Lucca with her Zonker-50 to save you! Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca When you leave there, search the fainted guard. That will bag you three Mid Tonics. Also, save the guy in the guillotine because he'll give you something later that you'll definitely appreciate. Head to stairs 1D and search around. Head down stairs 1B to get the chests and 1A to save. Then go to 1C. See that hole in the wall? That's where you come out. Now, head back down 1C and go up to 1D, through the connector area, and to 2A. You can explore 2B if you want, but now go up 2C. Go out, scale the castle, and come up in the hole near 1C. Then, go down the hole to the cell near 1A, grab the treasure, then head back up the castle and out 2C. Then, head to 2D. Since the guard had already fainted, search him for 5 Mid Tonics. Then, read the manual and save. Next is the battle with the Dragon Tank. The main thing to remember is to beat the head first. If you don't, it's darn near impossible to beat the rest of it. After that, just be sure to keep healed, but otherwise it's easy. (Now, skip part two and go to where it says "After beating the Dragon Tank".) 2) This is pretty much the same as above, but here's the stairway diagrams again: There are eight stairways in two areas. They'll each be numbered and lettered so it will be easier to tell where to go. Here they are: 1A) The stairway that leads you out of your cell 1B) The stairway that leads you to a room with four chests in a room and an Omicrone battle 1C) Stairs that take you to the part of the wall that there's a hole in 1D) Leads you to a connector area that connects area 1 and area 2, where the guillotine is Here's a diagram: 1C -------- --------- 1D \ / ----- Battle ------ / \ 1A -------- --------- 1B 2A) Leads to the connector area 2B) Nothing special but a dead body 2C) The hole in the wall that takes you the other hole in the wall 2D) Takes you to the prison entrance Diagram: 2C ------- --------- 2D \ / ------ Battle ------ / \ 2B ------- --------- 2A If you decide to break out of the cell, first hit the bars three times to get the guard to go in there. When you knock him out, defeat the guard and head on out of your cell to stairs 1A. Also be sure to save! Head down stairs 1B to get the chests and 1A to save. Then go to 1C. See that hole in the wall? That's where you come out. Now, head back down 1C and go up to 1D and through the connector area. Here, save the guy's life in the guillotine. Heāll pay you back later big time for saving his life. Then go to 2A. You can explore 2B if you want, but now go up 2C. Go out, scale the castle, and come up in the hole near 1C. Then, go down the hole to the cell near 1A, grab the treasure, then head back up the castle and out 2C. Then, head to 2D. The guy in the room will run for help. But Lucca shoves him down and makes him faint. Search him for 5 Mid Tonics. Then, read the manual and save. Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca Next is the battle with the Dragon Tank. The main thing to remember is to beat the head first. If you don't, it's darn near impossible to beat the rest of it. After that, just be sure to keep healed, but otherwise it's easy. (Go here from both steps) After beating the Dragon Tank, walk across the bridge and back into the castle. Guardia Castle - 1000 AD Now that you're out of jail, the castle guards chase you to the exit of the castle. But Marle stops them. The Chancellor is also there, wanting them to arrest him again, but then King Guardia comes in and explains to Marle that the "throne comes before your personal wishes", or first comes what you have to do, not what you want to do. So, she throws off her dress and walks outside with Crono and Lucca. But the guards, pushed by the Chancellor, follow them. Guardia Forest - 1000 AD Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle You get chased into the corner of the forest. When all hope is gone, you see a gate! You then immediately get surrounded by guards. Then, in desperation, you hop into it and get teleported to the future! -< Step 6 - Beyond the Ruins >- Items: Ether, Berserker, Lode Sword, Lode Bow, Mid Ether, Bike Key, Seed Bangor Dome - 2300 AD This is just one of those entry places. But it'll be important later because of the black door. Exit the dome. Trann Dome - 2300 AD Before you enter, be sure not to stay outside. For some reason, if you do, you'll HP will be reduced. At the Trann Dome, you'll be introduced to the Enertron, the machine that revitalizes you but doesn't fill your stomach. The people of the future rely on these devices to keep them alive. Stock up on items and but new weapons and armor. Then, talk to the people and find out that you're supposed to go to Lab 16 to get to the Arris Dome to the east. Lab 16 - 2300 AD In the lab, be sure to stay away from the rats. They'll steal your items away from you! Be sure to take all paths to get all the items here; there's a whole bunch of them for the taking. Also, since you get more experience, it's good to take every way to get more level-ups. The Shadows here can be hurt only by magic, so only Crono's Slash and Lucca's Flame Toss are useful in those battles. After you complete the area, then head to your destination, the Arris Dome. Arris Dome - 2300 AD The Arris Dome is one of the saddest places in this whole time period. Everyone here is so weak that you can just push them and they fly for a while. If you didn't get a chance to buy everything from the Trann Dome, this shop has the same items. Talk to Doan, the old man with white hair, about where to go. He tells you that the food is down the ladder, and they need it desperately. But it's guarded by robots and hardly anyone has come out of it. So, to help them, you head down there. And he also tells you that there's and info center in the basement that you should check out. You need to find the next gate. First, you find that you need a password to enter the other area, the area that holds the info center, so you go in the accessible door. Head across the beams. On them, you find a rat statue. That's important later. So head on across. When the refrigeration room is in sight, a Guardian and Bits attack you! (See "Guardian and Bits") The main thing to remember is to get rid of the bits before attacking the guardian. Once in the refrigeration room, Lucca states that the refrigeration failed, and you see a dead body lying on the floor. Examine it and you'll find out that the rat isn't a statue and you need to catch it to be able to get to the info center. Then you find a seed. You need to take it to Doan and his group above after you're done below. Then head back to the beams. Once back there, you see the rat. Be sure to hold the B button all the way or you'll never catch it. Also, when you get very close, start pressing the A button rapidly to be sure to catch it. Once you catch it, you find out that the password is to stand in front of the little computer and hold the L and R buttons and press A. So you go there and do that. Now go through the area, remembering to fight everything there. Then, instead of heading to the other computer, head back and climb up to the wire meshing to that door. That's the info center. Inside the center, Lucca gets it going and finds out where the gate is: inside the Proto Dome to the east. Then Marle goes over and wants to press some buttons. Then she activates the one that shows footage of The Day of Lavos in 1999. That's what made the world like this. This is when you really find out you're in the future. Marle doesn't want the world to end like this, so she gets pumped up to save it. Head back up and talk to Doan. When up, talk to Doan and give him you seed. In return, to help you get to the Proto Dome, he gives you a Bike Key to the jet bike in Lab 32. He wishes you a safe journey. Now use the Enertron and save. You can, before, go to the Sewer Access if you want, but it's not necessary to. If you do, then go to the section in Step 19 (Break the Seal!) about the Sewer Access. -< Step 7 - The Factory Ruins >- Items: 2 Mid Tonics, Race Log, 2 Shelters, Titan Vest, Hammer Arm, Plasma Gun, 2 Mid Ethers, 2 Ethers, Robin Bow, Bolt Sword, 400G Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle Lab 32 - 2300 AD You come into Lab 32 and see the jet bike just sitting there. When you try to use it, here come some robots to spoil your fun. But, all of a sudden, here comes the transforming car-person first called The Man, but really is Johnny. You need to first walk through and get the Race Log to keep track of your highest scores in the races. Then you can race as many times as you want. Then head to the Proto Dome. Proto Dome - 2300 AD In this dome is where you get Robo. Fight the seven Buggers, then go over to the pile of parts that is the broken-down Robo. Lucca wants to repair him, but Marle thinks he will attack them. Then Lucca says she can program them to not. Then Marle tells her "Machines. You pity them, don't you?" Then Marle gets to work. While she is, Marle finds out that the door to the gate is locked. When Lucca is finished, she puts in the juice and upon activation, Robo does a dance around the three. Then they introduce each other. Robo calls Lucca "Madam Lucca", but she says she hates formal titles, and Marle agrees totally. Then here's your first party decision: who should you take along to help in the factory and who should get the door? I suggest taking along Marle because of her healing. So: Suggested Party: Crono, Robo, Marle Then you three head on out to the Factory to get the power on in the dome. Factory - 2300 AD This is the third biggest area so far on your journey. You find out that Robo is valuable in this dome because of all of the computer codes and defense devices. First, head to the factory area. (I think it's to the right.) When you emerge, head down the flights of stairs, go to the left and the immediately up, and then take that set of stairs down. Skirk the walls and head left until you hit another flight of stairs. Before you go into that room, head to the right and go in that door. This computer will give you the crane controls, "XA" and "BB". Then go in the door at the top of the stairs. Head through and get to the crane. Enter the two combinations to move the barrels that were blocking your way. Next, exit that door and head across the bridge over the conveyor belts. Go through the area and head up the small set of stairs on the conveyor belt. First, get the Robin Bow in the chest, being sure to not touch the robots, and then touch them after you get the bow. After the battles, you'll be at the beginning of the maze. Head back down the stairs and skirk the wall as previously done, then continue past the last flight of stairs until you come to a door. Enter it and activate the computer. You'll find out that the code to stop the mail conveyor belt and to turn on the generators is "Zabie", or "XABY". Then head back up the stairs and back to the beginning of the factory. Now, head down the left elevator to take you to the Lab area. When you reach the bottom of the elevator, step off and save. This'll be the last time to save before the R-Series battle (The boss of the factory). Head up and activate the computer. You'll be attacked by an Acid and a pair of Alkalines. You'll have to face these little things quite a bit in here. They're a type of defensive thing in here. That'll open the hatch so you can crawl down it. Then head left across the big, wide open space. Depending on where you run across, you may have a battle or not. Then head through the door leading down and continue through the next door the same way. Then take a right and fight the battle before entering the door. Then take the Hammer Arm from the chest and activate the computer. That'll bring on a big battle, but more importantly, it lets you have access to the conveyor belt switch. Take care of the Acids and Alkalines and head down the elevator. In this room, you'll see a computer near the locked door. Activate it and enter the password when it's ready for it. Then grab the Plasma Gun and head up. Flip the switch. That'll turn on the generators and stop the conveyor belt. Then alarms go off everywhere and Robo goes crazy! Then he warns you all to get out of there as fast as you can. He even risks his own "life" to save you from being trapped and/or crushed. Then, since the elevators are shut off, take the stairs. You've been here before, so you know the way out. When you get to the big, wide open space, though, you're attacked by a group of Robo's friends, the R-Series! They trash Robo and think taking care of you will be a piece of cake! Since there are six of them, for best advice is to always keep Marle ready for healing while Crono attacks with his Cyclone. Once in a while you'll need the Aura Whirl. Then after you beat them, Marle (of Lucca) will get Robo out of the dumpster and you and her will take him back to the Proto Dome for Lucca to fix. Proto Dome - 2300 AD Your task is complete. The door is open. But now Robo is in the same shape as before, badly in need of repair. Lucca and Robo have a discussion about his future. He says that nobody else has asked him that before. When he is repaired, he goes along with you through the portal. -< Step 8 - The End of Time >- Items: None Suggested Party: (For now) Crono, Lucca, Marle, Robo The End of Time You emerge from the portal, looking around, again not knowing where you are. You see that there isn't much here. You go down the steps and an old man beckons you over to talk to him. He tells you where you are and how you got here. You got here because there were four in your party. So you have to take one out. For now, take out Robo. You'll see later. Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle Then the old man urges you to hurry back to 1000 AD. But, before you have a chance to leave, he wants you to look in the door behind him. It's Spekkio in there! He's the weird-looking, magic-giving creature. To get magic, it's a odd task, but you have to walk around the edges of the room, not going away from it, three times clockwise. Then he rewards you with the magic. Why you needed those two are because they needed the magic. Since Robo doesn't get any magic from Spekkio, he doesn't need to be there. You're too weak to beat him now, but you may be strong enough later. Save and head to Medina Village. *NOTE* Here is a diagram of the portals and where they go when you get them all: oo o o - Truce Canyon oo 600 AD oo o o - Medina Village oo 1000 AD oo oo o o - Tyran Fortress o o - Guardia Forest oo 65000000 BC oo 1000 AD oo Proto Dome o o - 2300 AD oo oo oo o o - Bangor Dome o o - Earthbound Island oo 2300 AD oo 12000 BC oo o o - Mystic Mts. oo 65000000 BC oo o o - Leene Square oo 1000 AD If you see, by the pattern, the portals across from each other are ones that connect to each other. -< Step 9 - The Village of Magic >- Items: Magic Scarf, Ether, Mid Ether, Speed Tab, Magic Tab Suggested Party: Crono, Robo, Lucca Medina Village - 1000 AD You'll emerge from the gate in a monster's house, in a cabinet! They want you to scram, but they give you some helpful info, like how if Magus hadn't created Lavos, humans would be gone. You see, they are Mystics. They hate humans. That's why they thought Magus created Lavos, to exterminate all of the humans. But they also suggest you head over to Melchior (the old man) to the west. But, before you do, you should check out the village some more. Head over to the Elder's House. Inside is a Magic Tab and a Speed Tab. Then, head over to the shop. Plead with them, and then beat them. But the prices are WAY too high to afford. Here's a sample of things you can buy there: Tonic - 840G Mid Tonic - 8400G Iron Blade - 29400G Steel Saber - 65000G Ridiculous, isn't it? The same thing will happen at the inn. Once you beat them up, a night's stay is 200G. If you're going to sleep, go home for heaven's sake! :) Head on over to Melchior's hut. He'll offer you some weapons. When you walk out of there, he'll suggest to you to head up to Heckran Cave to get back to Truce. Follow his advice and go there. Heckran Cave - 1000 AD In here, all enemies, except for the first ones, are only hurt badly by magic. Sure, you can take forever if you want to kill them with magic, but I prefer the quick way, magic. Make sure you use your MP wisely; you'll need it all the way through here. Why I chose Robo and Lucca to go along is that Robo's Laser Spin is the only tech that will attack all of the enemies, and it's magic. Lucca's magic is also more powerful than Marle's. The monsters I hate the most are the Cave Bats because if they happen to actually get you to sleep, they can be very harmful. Then head to Heckran across the river that flows through. Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle Save and enter. Main things to remember: 1) Keep Marle powered-up. She will need to heal frequently. 2) Use only magic-based techs. 3) Don't attack when he says, "Go ahead and try to attack!" Minding those, you'll win. After the battle, your party hops in the Vortex Pit that takes you back to Truce. -< Step 10 - The Hero Appears >- Items: Gold Helmet, Jerky, Power Tab, Ether, 2 Mid Tonics Truce Village - 1000 AD After you emerge from the Vortex Pit, you appear near Lucca's house. After finding out that you need to go to 600 AD to check out the "making of Lavos", you decide to go through time to the period. So, you need to go the Fair and get in the portal. Leene Square - 1000 AD Hop in the time gate near the Telepod that takes you to the End of Time. The End of Time Head down the stairs, heal, and save. Beat Spekkio. Then head through the gate that takes you to Truce Canyon, 600 AD. (The one in the upper-right corner.) Truce Canyon - 600 AD This is just another pass-through point. Head out of the area. Zenan Bridge - 600 AD Head to the bridge. Find out that Magus's troops are pushing across the bridge, but more importantly, that the troops need food. Then go to the Castle. Guardia Forest - 600 AD Again, just another pass through point. But, be sure to grab another Shelter from that one animal. Guardia Castle - 600 AD At the castle, head to the right immediately and head down the stairs to the dining area. Talk to the chef and his assistants until he says, "Well, what do you know?" Then head back up the stairs. Just before you leave, the chef comes back and gives you some Jerky and a Power Tab. Then head back to the bridge. Guardia Forest - 600 AD Yet, another pass-through point. (Don't you get tired of these? :) ) Be sure to get another Shelter. Zenan Bridge - 600 AD Give the Jerky to the Knight Captain. Then he'll ask you for your help. Help them by heading across the bridge. Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle After you beat the enemies, Ozzie makes a huge skeleton-like monster named Zombor. One tip: Be ready to get the person that kills him to get their MP zapped from them! Dorino Village - 600 AD Here, stock up on some new supplies and take a rest. Then head to Fiona's Villa. Grab the Mid Tonics and head to Porre (to the south). -< Step 11 - Tata and the Frog >- Items: 2 Mid Tonics, Silver Earring, Silver Stud, Mirage Hand, Magic Tab, Speed Tab, Shelter, Broken Sword, Broken Hilt Porre Village - 600 AD Stock up on more new items and talk to everyone in the village. The buzz around town that Tata, a little boy, is the legendary Hero because he found the Hero's Medal and is now probably up at the Denadoro Mts. to look for the Masamune, the only weapon that can kill Magus. Following this news, head there. Denadoro Mts. - 600 AD Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Robo I pick this party because you need Lucca's fire spells to help you take care of the Ogans, the ones with the hammers. You need to burn the hammer, or else it'll take you a very long time to get rid of them. When you step into the forest, you see Tata running around, screaming for his life. Step in and lend a hand. After you help him, he runs back to the village and warns you that it's very scary here. But, that's just a kid, and little kids get scared of anything. So you keep on going. Remember to pick up every single treasure chest you can find; there's a lot of them. This place is a big maze, with some paths very hard to see. After you climb up the first rope bridge, look to the left to try to find a pathway to the treasure chest that you saw earlier. Then head back up and beat the Ogan and Goblin. Remember on Ogans! In the shaded forest area, look for any secret or hidden paths. To reach some of them, you have to skirk the walls. Continue on to the next area. In the next one, there is a Free Lancer throwing rocks at you. Be sure not to get hit, or else your HP level will be reduced. Then head on. In the area overlooking a cliff, there are four consecutive battles with no rest period in between. So be sure to go in there with full power. In this area, there are two hidden chests in an area down the waterfall. But, to get both in one trip, don't head down the first, big one. Keep going past and you'll see another one to the left of the big one. Go down it and there will be a Silver Stud in that box. It reduces MP use for a spell by 50%. Then fall off the front and open the other chest. It has a Silver Earring in it. This increases your HP level by 25%. Then, head back up to the area you fell off of. There will be no more battles until you reach it. Then head up to the cliff area on the left side and get the chest under the tree. Then head to the left. In the next area, After that, you see an odd white thing looking at the mountains. He keeps on saying that the mountains're nice or that it's a great view. If you nag him for a while, he'll give you a Magic Tab. Then head down. This is where you save right before the battle between Masa and Mune. Also, before the fight, grab the Speed Tab to the left right before the exit of the area. Then, head over to the rope ladder. Fall down it and do your best to try to avoid the battle. Then head up the other bridge and into the cavern. Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle Talk to the little boy and head up to the Masamune. Then the boy will stop you and ask if that's what you came for. Then he calls his brother out, then you enter the battle. Go for Mune. Then in the battle when they're fused together, use Slash to neutralize his Tornado power. After the battle, you receive the Broken Sword part of the Masamune. Then the wind picks you up and throws you off of the mountain. Then head back to Porre. Porre Village - 600 AD Back at the village, talk to Tata in his house to get the Hero Medal. Then head to the Cursed Woods, to the north of the village along the coast. Cursed Woods - 600 AD This is where Frog lives. To find it, go behind the bush at the top of the area. Take the medal and sword to him. Then he goes back in the corner to think. While he does, check out the chest that's flashing. Inside is the Broken Hilt. On it is the word "Melchior". That gives you the clue to take it to Melchior back in 1000 AD. Then take it there. Truce Canyon - 600 AD Back to ripping through time! Enter the gate here. The End of Time Enter the gate that takes you to Medina, the one next to the one you just came out of. Medina Village - 1000 AD Head out of the closet and house and go over to Melchior's. In his house, he wonders where you got the Masamune parts. But then he tells you that he needs some Dreamstone, the rock that the sword is made of, to repair it. But it hasn't been found for a long time. So that gives you the hint to go to the far past, 65000000 BC. The End of Time Suggested Party: Crono, Robo, Marle Refresh and save. Then head to the gate that takes you to 65000000 BC, the one at the bottom in the center. -< Step 12 - The Dreamstone >- Items: Berserker Mystic Mts. - 65000000 BC When you fall off the mountain, you're attacked by some dinosaur-like creatures! Take them all out with the Rocket Roll. (That's why I suggest to have Robo in the party! :) ) Then, in the next wave, a very powerful woman comes by and takes out three of them! Don't get too surprised, because they go after you! Take them out with the Rocket Roll again. Then she comes up and attacks Crono! But she backs off and says she respects strong people. So she introduces. Her name is Ayla. Then you tell you that you're looking for the Dreamstone. She tells you that she has plenty of stones back at the village. So you follow her. Ioka Village - 65000000 BC Head into the Chief's hut. Then she invites you to a party. You have no choice, since you're here for the Dreamstone. At the party, your friends eat the food there. Then, if Marle is in your party, she even gets up and wants you to dance! Then, after a while, talk to Ayla. Then she wants to have a soup-drinking contest to see who gets the stone. If you win, you get it. If you don't, keep on trying until you do. Then morning breaks. You find out then that the Gate Key has been stolen! You head to Ayla's hut to tell her. She's sleeping, so wake her up. She tells you that it must be the Reptites, and tells you to go south. She joins your party to help out. Also, check out the other huts. Head up to the Hunting Range to get some stuff to trade. Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Robo -< Step 13 - Footsteps! Follow! >- Items: 3 Mid Tonics, Heal, 2 Mid Ethers, 2 Revives, Shelter Hunting Range - 65000000 BC Here, there are many simple battles. After every battle, you'll get either some Fangs, Horns, Feathers, and Petals. Also, during the rain, look for the blue Nu. He gives you 30 tech points, 3 of each trading item, and after the first meeting, a Third Eye, which doubles your Evade skill. After you build some levels, head back to the trading hut in Ioka. Ioka Village - 65000000 BC Back in the village, head to the hut that has the trading person in it. You can get the following items: Flint Edge, Sage Bow, Ruby Gun, Stone Arm, Ruby Vest, and Rock Helms. You can get as many of each as you want. Then head to the Forest Maze. Forest Maze - 65000000 BC The maze is, well, a maze. But it's really tricky to get through unless you know how the game works. At the opening, you find out that Kino, Ayla's wimp if a friend, stole the key when they were asleep. He thought that Ayla like Crono more than him. But he doesn't have it! The Reptites stole it! So you need to get through the forest maze to get to the Reptite Lair to get it back! Mainly, as the name of this step says, follow the footsteps. Also, be sure to get all of the chests. There's a total of 9 chests to be gotten. You'll have to a bit of skirking, especially under the trees. It may appear that there are trunks under these trees, but there aren't any. There are lots of new enemies faced here. Have the three most powerful attackers in your party. (Crono, Ayla, Robo) At the beginning, head down the ladder and fight the Gold Eaglets. Then get the chest and cross the log bridge below. Also get both of the other chests, one north and one south of your position. Then head through the path near the northern chest. Then there are two paths. They eventually meet up at the same place, however. One of them is through the path with the footsteps. This is the way with a battle. The other way is to cut through the trees and avoid the battle. Then go under the overpass and fight another battle. This is where a lot of people get messed up. After you pick the treasure chest, head between the trees as far as you can go. Then head to the right and go up, across the overpass you just went under. Then head to the battle where the footsteps, then head down around the turn right into another battle. Keep going up and head down around the next turn. Then, going into the next battle, and head downward. Then go right before you exit the area and grab the chest. Then head out of the maze to the Reptite Lair. Reptite Lair - 65000000 BC This is a great place to build levels if you need to. In the first room, wait for the Evil Weevils to make holes in the ground so you can go to different area than the hole that is already there. Be sure to go to each of the different areas. Where the areas come together, there is a new big enemy, the Megasaur, which is hard to beat. Weaken it with Lightning attacks, then attack regularly. Most of the monsters in the Prehistoric are weakened by Lightning attacks. Get the Rock Helmet and Ruby Vest in the chests and head to the right. The Winged Apes throw things at you if you don't beat it when you attack it. So use your most powerful attacks to get rid of them. Then save, but don't go up. Just before the save point area, there is a door to the right. Go in it. This takes you back to the beginning to go back through and gain more experience. I highly suggest to be at least at level 20 and have Lightning 2 by the time you beat Nizbel, the guardian of the Reptite Lair. So go through the place a couple hundred times, then go to Nizbel. As with most all the other monsters in the Prehistoric, break down his defenses with multiple Lightning attacks. Then head back to the Mystic Mts. and go to 600 AD. Mystic Mts. - 65000000 BC Head back to where the gate is. But to enter it, you have to fall off of the cliff from above. The End of Time Restore your life, save, and enter the gate to Medina Village, 1000 AD. Medina Village - 1000 AD Back at Melchior's house, you take him the parts of the Masamune and the Dreamstone. He wonders deeply how you got it, but he says he can't take it. So he goes down with either Robo or Lucca, whoever's in your party at the time, and works on repairing the Masamune. Then, he gives it to you and you take it back to Frog. The End of Time Hop in the gate to Truce Canyon. Truce Canyon - 600 AD Head to the Cursed Woods on the southern continent. Cursed Woods - 600 AD Frog is still standing in the corner when you get there, so go talk to him and present him with the Masamune. He'll want you to stay the night while he thinks the situation over. You go through a lot of scenes from his early childhood to when he goes with Cyrus to go and get the Hero Medal to when he gets transformed into a frog. Then he decides to go with you. From now until you beat Magus, you're forced to have him in your party. Head to the End of Time to get his magic. Truce Canyon - 600 AD Head into the time gate to The End of Time. The End of Time Head over to Spekkio's room. He then gives Frog his Water magic. Then, if you are over level 25, beat him again. Then get the time gate back to 600 AD. Truce Canyon - 600 AD Head to the Magic Cave, a tunnel to Magus's Castle, east of the Denadoro Mts., to get to the Castle. Magic Cave - 600 AD At the entrance, you see that the cave is sealed up. So, to open it, you need the Masamune. First, before Frog gets it, you see the almost exact reminiscing period as before. Here you find out that Frog's real identity was Glenn before he was transformed. Then Frog grabs it. Power is flowing off it as a huge blue bolt of energy shoots up in the air! Then, with a swipe of the Masamune, the cave opens up! You enter the cave. Also, as in Heckran Cave, the enemies are hurt more by magic. Use techs like Rocket Roll to beat them quickly. At the end of the cave, there is a soldier that has collapsed. On the piece of paper he is holding, it says that the Jugglers defensive changes. I'll tell you more about that later. Exit the cave. -< Step 15 - Magus's Castle >- Items: Mid Ether, Barrier, Shelter, Magic Tab, Slasher, 2 Mist Robes, Dark Mail, Doom Finger, Speed Belt, Revive, Magic Scarf, Lapis Magus's Castle - 600 AD When you enter, you see that apparently nobody is there. So you explore. Going either way, you see that there are people here, but they're acting very strange. They say like "Haha..." or "Wanna play...". And if you go to the right, you see Crono's mom, Queen Leene, and Lucca, King Guardia, or Taban! These turn into monsters later. After you talk to everyone, go back into the main hall and step on the save point. Then Ozzie appears! He tells you that there 100 monsters are in here. You don't have to beat them all, however. First, head up to the hall to the left, this time avoiding as many battles as you can, and head into the room at the very top. Here, you have a battle with six Decedents, then Slash appears. But Frog calls him "Slush". Slash thinks Frog is playing a comedy role, and you enter a battle. Use X-Strike against him. Then pick up the Slasher and save. Now this is a great level-building place. In the right hall, where there's the fake Crono mom, Queen Leene, and Guardia, Taban, or Lucca, keep on going through there. I suggest being at least at level 30 and everyone has their fifth spell by the time you get done building. Then head up and beat Flea. The first one is fake. But that's a Juggler. Get used to fighting these; there's a lot of them. After Flea, save your game and head back to the save point that you saw earlier when you met Ozzie. This is a warp and it takes you to a hall. In that hall, you have four consecutive battles, but with break time in between each. At the end of the hall, Ozzie tries to call for Slash and Flea, unaware of your defeat of them. Then he runs off and hides. In the next room, beware of the blades. These babies take off a ton of HPs when you get hit by them. So, to avoid them, run under them right after they hit the ground. Ozzie cranks up the speed in the second part, so it's a bit trickier. It's actually pretty easy to get through here. Then chase him into the next room. This is an odd place. When you see a Roly coming towards you, climb down one of the ladders to avoid it. You will have to fight at least one battle here. Then head up into the door to the next room. You can get quite a bit of experience here. When you walk in certain spots, the floor collapses under you and you fall to the floor below. Loot all the chests. You'll see four save points, one is an actual save point, one is a warp to where you were, and the others are some weak enemies that don't do anything. Heck, they don't even have names! Once you find the path through, head up and chase Ozzie. This next area is another one of those odd-looking ones. As before, use the ladders if you see a Roly come along. But if you get in a battle with these, the black Rolys, when you beat them, they explode and you lose life. So beware of that. This contains two battles which Ozzie pulls up with the chains. (I really think he has an obsession with chains and pulleys, don't you?) Ozzie runs and hides again, that scaredy-cat. Then chase him AGAIN. The next area is another hallway. Fight the enemies like before. But this time, there are many Jugglers. Take them out with spells like Lightning 2 and Laser Spin. Ozzie is at the end of the hall again, and whisks away when you come near. The next area is when you actually face Ozzie. This is a very stupid battle. Don't attack him; attack the pulleys to the sides. That'll open up holes in the floor. When you do all four, he'll fall into a pit. Then save and continue. The most important battle besides Lavos, I think, is coming up. It's with Magus. Head down the stairs, avoiding the Vamps. Enter the door. Magus is chanting some type of ritual that goes like "Nuega, zeiner, zeiber, zom...". Head up until you get to the circle of fire. Then the lights come on, and you see Magus there. He taunts you, then warns you to prepare for the void. The main thing to remember: he changes his barriers. Only make sure when you're selecting techs to use that he'll have the same barrier off. After you beat him, he'll tell you that he didn't make Lavos, just summoning him to get revenge on him. Then you're pulled into this huge time portal. You see something -- is it from the future, or is it a dream? It has Marle trying to wake up Crono like his mom did. Are they married? Nobody knows. -< Step 16 - Forward to the Past >- Items: None Suggested Party: Crono, Robo, Lucca You awake in Ayla's hut. She tells you that she found you at the Mystic Mts., injured, so she decided to take you back to the village. Frog gets up, and Ayla wants to eat him! Then he starts talking about Magus, and now Ayla wants to eat him! Ayla leaves. Then Kino enters the hut. Someone comes up to him, telling him that Laruba Village is burned down! Then he leaves to that village. You follow him. In Laruba, the chief blames Ayla for the attack of the Reptites on them. But now Ayla wants the Dactyls to fly to the Tyrano Lair. The chief lets her go, and you follow. -< Step 17 - Unnatural Selection? >- Items: 3 Mid Ethers, Mid Tonic, 2 Meso Mails, Full Tonic, Full Ether, Tonic, 2 Cera Toppers, Revive Dactyl Nest - 65000000 BC Suggested Party: Crono, Robo, Frog If you're having trouble finding it, look for a mountain pass between the two forest patches. Head in there. This is pretty much a straightforward place with a few battles before you reach the nest at the top. When you do, you see Ayla calling the Dactyls. You go and talk to her. She seems surprised that you want to go, and calls two more Dactyls to take you. Then you warp to the outside and head to the Tyrano Lair in the middle of the lava lake. Tyrano Lair - 65000000 BC Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Robo For the lair, you need your strongest attackers. Enter the lair and head through the open mouth and down the stairs. You see some villagers in a prison cell. Open it up by hitting the switch to the side and that'll free them. They're rude people, though. They don't even say "Thank you"! Head down the stairs and listen to the guards. Then fight them and free Kino. After Ayla frees him, he'll show you a secret. Follow him. The secret is to open up the closed mouths. He runs away, and you continue. In the next room, you can either step on the switches and make the enemies fall down a hole, or just fight them. Remember, prehistoric monsters are hurt badly by Lightning! Then go into the door to the left. Go through the battles and head into the next door. This next area has secret warp areas and invisible enemies. So be careful where you step. It's also almost impossible to get the treasures in the room. Head down the stairs and go back outside. As you can see, the door is locked, so head in the door on the far right. The switch on the left opens the mouth and takes you into a battle and the switch on the right just opens the mouth. Either way, go through the mouth and hit the switch on the wall. Then head back outside and go through the door. In this room, you'll fight Nizbel II. He's virtually the same as the first Nizbel, so he shouldnāt be a problem. Remember to use Lightning frequently. Then head up the stairs. Again, same as the last outdoor area, head into the room on the far right. This time, the switch in the center activates a save point, the one on your left opens up holes on each side of the walkway, and the one on the right sends monsters falling. Head up into the room and hit the switch. Then save and head up to the door. In the two Megasaur battles, remember to use Lightning to lower its defenses. Up that door is Azala and the Black Tyrano. Azala is still bragging how much smarter the Reptites are, but Ayla doesn't ever give up! Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Marle Head up into the door and fight them. One thing: Concentrate on Azala first, then the Tyrano. After the battle, Azala falls, and so does Lavos. Remember when he called the red star to fall? Well, that was Lavos. Lavos means "Fire Big", or "Big Fire" in Ayla's language. Now here comes Kino on the Dactyls to save you. Ayla offers Azala a ride on them, but says that his race lost out and he deserves to die. Then you all fly away and Lavos "stains the earth". Then you see a huge crater where the Tyrano Lair was. Head there. Then you see a time gate. Enter it and it takes you to 12000 BC. -< Step 18 - The Magic Kingdom >- Items: Black Rock, Speed Tab, Magic Tab, Marle's powered-up pendant Suggested Party: Anyone you'd like Cave - 12000 BC This is where you emerge when you get out of the gate. Exit this tiny cave. Skyways - 12000 BC There is a network of Skyways connecting the airborne Zeal with the Earthbound Village. Enter the first one on the ground. It takes you up to the island. Enter the Enhasa. Enhasa - 12000 BC You first meet Janus here, and you figure out the mystery of the books. Janus is at the left-most stairs. The books go in this order: Water, Wind, Fire. The Water book is up the rightmost stairs on a table with a lamp on it. The Wind book is where Janus was. And the Fire book is right near the entrance. Then a room opens up with a mysterious doll in it. Inside of it is a Black Rock. This evokes the Dark Eternal, which you can learn later. Also, the blue tiles are like Shelters and replenish everything. Back outside to the Skyway to the north. Skyways - 12000 BC Enter the Skyway taking you back to the ground. Since there isn't anything on this island, head north to the last set of Skyways. Exit the last one and head across the bridge to Kajar. Kajar - 12000 BC In Kajar, there are many of those blue tiles that restore your life. Also, there are another three books to open like at the Enhasa. Remember, the order is Water, Wind, Fire. The Water book is in the upper-left corner while the Water book is in the lower right corner. The Fire book is by the Nu in the center of Kajar. The door appears just to the right of the Fire book. In the room, you'll fight 6 Nus. Have the people in your party with the most powerful attack. (Especially Crono's Luminaire works well if you have it now!) As you face the doorway to the right, look just to the right and upwards. See that twinkling? That's a Speed Tab. Enter the room, head up the stairs, and just beside the first notch in the wall, look at the wall and pick it up. If you try to pick up one of the tabs that guy is working on, you'll find out that it's defective. Also, remember where that Nu is in the room. You'll need to come back to it later. There's nothing in the other room to see, so exit Kajar and head to Zeal Palace via a network of caves. Caves - 12000 BC These are just like the Skyways, except they transport you in one area. Be sure to not go backward! Zeal Palace - 12000 BC Before you go any further, go to the Nu on the bridge when you enter. Talk to it and scratch its back. Then head left and down and talk to the woman with the plant. Tell her to let it grow. Then leave the palace and head back to Kajar. Caves - 12000 BC Back to the Caves again. Head toward Kajar. Kajar - 12000 BC Remember where that Nu was in here? Well, go talk to it. Scratch its back and receive a Power Tab. Then go back to Zeal Palace. Caves - 12000 BC Aren't these getting annoying? Head to the palace. Zeal Palace - 12000 BC Now go to the doorway on the far right. Then, in there, go right again. In this room is Janus and his mom, Schala. Schala's telling Janus that she's going away. Then Janus says she's not his real mom. Then someone comes and takes her to another room. Follow them. At the door to where they were going, she opens the door up with her pendant. When you try it, it fails. Head to the doorway on the left. Stand in front of the machine and talk to it. That'll power up the pendant and you can go open that door now, as well as any others that look like that. Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Frog or Robo In the room, you see Queen Zeal, a Prophet, Schala, and Dalton, the guy with the gold cape. They're talking about since the Gurus are gone, she can rule Zeal. One of them is at Mt. Woe, and you go save him later. Zeal asks how you got in there, and orders Dalton to get rid of you. He summons a Golem. Golems can copy your magic abilities, so watch out! After you beat the Golem, the queen puts you in a holding chamber. Then Schala comes and rescues you. Then, when you start to escape, the prophet comes in and commands you to show him how you got here. Your party takes him to the portal. He tells you to get in it, and commands Schala to seal it shut. It's either you go away forever or stay alive, so Schala decides to do it. You're warped back in time to 65000000 BC again. -< Step 19 - Break the Seal! >- Items: Epoch, Magic Tab, Bolt Sword, Mid Ether, Swallow, Safe Helm, Mid Tonic Lair Ruins - 65000000 BC After you pop out of the gate, you all think about the doors. You've seen them somewhere else. They're in 2300 AD, inside the domes! So you decide to open them. You can also open the black chests you've seen. But, first, go back to 1000 AD for a task. Then later I'll have where to go for all of them. Mystic Mts. - 65000000 BC Hop into the time gate. The End of Time Go to Medina Village, 1000 AD. Medina Village - 1000 AD Once here, head north to the Forest Ruins. Forest Ruins - 1000 AD Walk up to the blue pyramid and inspect it. Marle's pendant begins to glow. The pyramid disappears and a Nu is now standing there with two black boxes. The one on the left holds a Safe Helm, which decreases physical damage by 1/2, and the one on the right is the Swallow, which ups Crono's attack by another 60 points. Then he disappears and you're finished here. Back to The End of Time. Medina Village - 1000 AD Head into the closet back to The End of Time. The End of Time Save here and head to the Proto Dome, 2300 AD. (The middle portal.) Proto Dome - 2300 AD From the Proto Dome, head over to Lab 32 and race Johnny. Lab 32 - 2300 AD Beat Johnny across and head to the Sewer Access. Sewer Access - 2300 AD If you're looking for the Sewer Access from Step 6, this is where you need to go, too. As you can see, there are many bridges out, so you have a long walk. There is a pesky Boss and Underling frog throughout this place, and you need to follow them to get to Sir Krawlie and the exit of the sewer. If you're at Step 19, hardly anything here will be of no use for you. Head right from the entrance to get the chest, then head left. Enemies just pop up from out of nowhere, so always be prepared for a battle. After you reach the bridge leading downward, you see those frogs going downstairs. Follow them down. Read the journal log to the left, then head back to the right. Unless you want to have 4 battles (which I recommend), don't touch anything. You might want the save point though, even though that's another booby trap. Then go up the stairs. It's skirking time again! Where there is a gap in the wall, walk through and hit the switch on the wall. Then skirk some more and head around to the opening. Then you'll hear those stupid frogs again, babbling. Still, follow them. On the way, you'll face Sir Krawlie. He's easy if you're doing it later, but extremely tough if you're doing it early. Suggested Party: (If during Step 6) Crono, Lucca, Marle (If during Step 19) Crono, Robo, Lucca Sir Krawlie hates Shadow magic. After you beat him, head down and up the stairs and out of the sewer to the Keeper's Dome. Keeper's Dome - 2300 AD Inside this dome, you find another Nu snoozing. It doesn't give you any info, so head up and open the sealed door. Read through the messages all the sparkles have and open the next door to get the "Wings of Time" (Epoch). Walk around to the back of it to get it. Then, as you exit, a Nu, actually Bethalsar, carrying a couple of seats. Get on it, name it, and get immediately off. Head back through the door and down the stairs to get the Magic Tab, then get back on and take off to the End of Time. The End of Time At the End of Time, the old man tells you about the Epoch, and then urges you to back to 12000 BC and fix thing there. -< Step 20 - The Guru of Time >- Items: Power Tab, Lode Helmet, 2 Shields, 2 Lapises, Shelter, Magic Tab, Lode Vest, 3 Barriers, 2 Full Ethers, Time Hat *NOTE* From now on, everything saying "Overworld" is where you get off of the Epoch. Overworld - 12000 BC After you get off the Epoch, head up to the Terra Cave. Inside is the village of Alghetty, the village of the Earthbound Ones. The Earthbound Ones are the ones that live on the ground and the Enlightened Ones live in Zeal and are believed to have magical powers. The Enlightened Ones think the Earthbound ones are just scrap and treat them just like that, especially in making them build the Ocean Palace. Terra Cave/Beast's Lair - 12000 BC In Alghetty, you see that this is a pretty lowly and dirty place to live. At the item shop in the first doorway you encounter, you can buy extremely powerful weapons, but they cost a fortune. Then keep on heading downward until you get to a save point. Talk to the people around. They advise to not go in there because of the beasts. Because you're so strong and brave, you go there. (Plus, you need to get to the Mt. Woe!) Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Robo or Frog (whichever one has higher attack) First, head to the very bottom right-hand corner and get that power tab right when you enter the Beast's Lair. The Beasts only are hurt by physical attacks, and that's why I suggest that party. Ayla can charm a Rainbow Helm from them, which is more powerful than the Glow Helmets you have. Beat the two sets of Beasts and head up to the battle with the Mud Imp, the Red Beast, and the Blue Beast. Beat the Beasts first, then the Mud Imp. I suggest to be at least at level 30 by the time you get there. Climb up the chain to the Mt. Woe. Mt. Woe - 12000 BC Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Marle When you first enter, head up to get the treasure that's there, and then head back down. The Rubble enemies here lock all your techs and items, forcing you to use regular attacks. But, it's very hard to hit. But you get 1000 EP and 100 TP (Tech Pts.) from it! Head back down to the entrance and take the chain to the left. The Bantam Imp/Stone Imps take two hits to beat. Get rid of them and head up the next chain. The wind here gets annoying, doesn't it? That's one reason why you need to get in a bunch of battles here. The other reason is that they give lots of experience, but less than the Rubble. After you emerge from the chain, head right and up, under the overpass with a save point on it. Then, after the battle with 2 Bantam Imps and 1 Gargoyle, head right onto that chain. On that island is a Rubble and two chests. Head back across. Most of the chests are bobby-trapped with monsters if you get close to them. I suggest doing it, mainly to get respite from that awful howling noise. Explore every single nook and cranny of the plateau area, save, and continue across the chain on the plateau. Across it are a few battles and a chest or two, a Rubble, and a chain. After you've fought all the battles (4, including the Rubble), head across the chain. The next chest you find isn't booby-trapped, but the chain is. Be careful of the Man-Eater's powerful attacks when you get to them. There are several battles along this area against them. Before you go up, get the chests to the right and then head up. Once you get on the next small plateau section, head down and fight a battle with 4 Man-Eaters to get two chests. Then head across the next chain. There are no enemies from here on out, so just concentrate on blocking the howling sound out, get every item, and head to the big chain that leads to Giga Gaia. Before you enter, if you have them, equip Red or Black Vests (or a Ruby Vest). Then save at the save point and head up the chain. At the battle area, you see an ice structure. It disappears and Giga Gaia comes up! Tip: Concentrate on its arms first. After you beat Giga Gaia, you find out that the Guru in the crystal that's been held there was Melchior. He doesn't know you (since this is before he meets you; I'll or the game'll explain later). The mountain is about to collapse, so you get off of it. Then the people of Alghetty watch it fall. Terra Cave - 12000 BC Melchior explains the situation when you get back to Alghetty. Then someone comes and announces that Schala is here! The people thought that Enlightened Ones didn't go to the surface, but Schala is one of the only people who think the Enlightened Ones are the same as the Earthbound Ones. Janus says this place is a "dirty hovel". Then Dalton comes and whisks Schala away. Go talk to Melchior and he'll give you the Ruby Knife. Then go back to Zeal. -< Step 21 - What Lies Beyond? >- Items: None Suggested Party: Crono, Robo, Frog Skyways - 12000 BC Head to the Skyway, skip the Enhasa, and use the Skyways until you reach Kajar. Kajar - 12000 BC At Kajar, the shop is selling more powerful weapons and armors (including the Lode Shields). Stock up on supplies and head through the caves to Zeal Palace. Caves - 12000 BC Go through these to Zeal. Zeal Palace - 12000 BC Head straight up into the middle room and save. You'll see people being warped to a place, and Dalton has to guard it. Since you beat up his Golem, he must try to beat you. I've found the best tech to use on him would be the Triple Raid. After you beat Dalton, head into the portal to the Ocean Palace, where the Mammon Machine is starting to suck out Lavos's energy. -< Step 22 - Lavos Beckons >- Items: Rune Blade, Aeon Suit, Aeon Helmet, Kaiser Arm, Sonic Arrow, Star Sword, Elixir, Demon Hit, Magic Tab, Shelter Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle or Frog Ocean Palace - 12000 BC You start off by warping down to the palace. Then you meet Masa, and he tells you about the Queen's plot to feed off of Lavos's energy and have Zeal live for eternity. You then flash over to the Mammon Machine, and you see that you need to hurry. Head down the door. (And save, too!) All the Scouts here are only damaged by the type of magic their color is. (Red - Fire, Yellow - Lightning, Blue - Water) So that's why I strongly suggest the above party. When you go through the door, head down and to the right into the door across the bridge. In that room, you fight a Jinn and Barghest to hit the switch. There are three switches to hit before you continue on deeper into the Palace. You MUST get rid on Barghest first, because Jinn is protected by Barghest's Shield. To get rid of it, kill Barghest, then say "good-bye" to Jinn. Then step on the switch and go down. After the battle, head to the left back into the main area. This time, head down to the center where there is a dead end. Then go up and to the left. Skirk the poles in this area and head in the door to the left. After the battle, head up. You'll have another Jinn and Barghest battle. After that battle, flip the switch. Then exit the room. Head down to where you saw an accessible doorway. Go down it. Go through the next room, then stop in the doorway in the next area. Turn a sharp left and walk along the wall. When you can't go any further, feel along the wall. You should be able to see a treasure chest by now. Skirk that wall to get to it. That contains the Demon Hit. Frog's attacks are now 2 times as power on magic enemies. Then head back up into the doorway. Instead of going through, head down this time and then take a right turn. There is the final switch to hit. Continue right and go through that doorway. When you emerge, go to the dead-end area. There should now be a walkway there. Go down the door. In the next area, head down the stairs. Going out the door isn't important, unless you just want to look around. The next area has a large flight of stairs and a platform with a battle on it. There are four of these. You'll find that at the last one is Mune with some more info for you about the Mammon Machine. Then go Dow the stairs. After the Jinn and Barghest battle, save and head out onto the elevator. Hit the switch and get prepared for four consecutive battles with no pause between. There are yet more Red Scouts, Blue Scouts, and Scouters here to make your day. Go down it and go up into the door. Here's another area where you need to flip three switches to make a platform. Head up either side; they're the same. You'll have to go up both of them eventually, anyway. There is one battle and a switch on the wall in both. Go through the battle, flip the switch, and go into the other room. Do the same thing there, and step on the last switch in the main room. Thatāll make a bridge over to the door. Enter the door. Save at the save point, and continue on. I highly recommend having Luminaire by now to fight the next boss battle. In the next room is Dalton, and he has more tricks up his sleeve. Instead of bringing in just one Golem, he now has TWO of them! Fight them as same as before. After they're gone, Dalton tries to bring in the GolemBoss. But the almighty energy of Lavos prevents that from happening. Head up the door to the Mammon Machine room. You'll see a huge crowd of people there. Zeal orders Schala to raise the power to the limit, and the Machine goes haywire. Then you us the Red Knife Melchior gave you to try and stop it. Then it transforms into the Masamune! But that doesn't stop and you all are brought right to Lavos. You attempt to fight him, but he knocks you out cold with one or two blows. Then the Prophet approaches him. He reveals his identity. He's really Magus! Lavos drains his powers, but he's not giving up. He approaches and attacks Lavos, but Lavos is too powerful for him and knocks him out too. Then Crono wakes up and approaches Lavos. You may want to turn around now, because Lavos vaporizes Crono. Then you all are transported back to the Palace. Schala sends you all out of the Palace with her pendant, and Lavos totally destroys Zeal, making it fall out of the sky. The remaining land is just one tiny island with the portal on it, and one last village. There are few survivors, and you're some of them. But Crono's gone! -< Step 23 - The New King >- Items: Magic Tab Suggested Party: Ayla and anyone else Last Village - 12000 BC The old man informs you of the situation. Most people are dead, under the ocean. The few surviving people are residing in the Commons. He then gives you Marle's pendant, which "followed" you there. Save your game and leave the hut to explore. You'll find a Nu in one hut selling items. You can upgrade now who you're taking along with you, but that's it. Save your money for later. In the other hut are just some people. Head for the Commons now. You MUST have Ayla in your party at this point unless you don't want to fight. Commons - 12000 BC The old man is waiting for you at the Commons. Then he wants everyone to bow to their new liege, Dalton. Dalton, being the butthole that he is, jumped into the small crowd and attacks people. Then he goes for you. You block his first shot, but then you all turn around, and he shoots you. (I don't see why anyone would turn around in the first place!) Then you're whisked away to the Blackbird. Blackbird - 12000 BC When you wake up in your cell on the Blackbird, you find that all your items, equipment, and money are all gone! This is why you should have Ayla. If you didn't, you'd have to find the only chest not guarded. Climb up the ladder to find out that you're airborne. Then when you're going back down the ladder, you find out that there is an air duct. Go up it. In the air system of the plane, you can look down on where you are. Head to the right and up, then take a left at your first chance. Then take a right so you're facing upward, and take the second passage to the right. You should see a room with this guy snoring in it. Take the chest's contents, then go back into the duct. Head back to your cell. Then go out the door. Head to the door that's just to the left. Go in it, and you'll find some more of your confiscated stuff. Head back out the door and go down. Head in the door on the left and get the chest in there. Go back out the door and head straight up to the conveyor belt. To change the direction of it, go to the little display that shows it going down and flip it to make it point up (or whichever way it is). After two belts, go to the door on the right and get another chest. Then save and go in the door past the next conveyor belt. Go into the room on the left. Grab the final chest in there and go up the ladder. You sold be outside. To even have a chance to move around, you must run. The Turrets here are tricky. But they're just like the Rubble. Get rid of as many as you can. Then go to the very left-hand corner of the wing near the engine. You'll feel a gate coming open. It's the GolemBoss! He doesn't do anything to you because he's afraid of heights. After the battle, you soon see a flying thing in the sky. It's Epoch with wings! Then, with Dalton's enhancements, he tries to blow you up! You all jump up and beat him as before in Zeal Palace. He tries to call GolemBoss and disappears. By pressing the wrong buttons, you blow up the Blackbird. But, now you fell another thing emerging, this time, from the water. It's the Ocean Palace... or is it? It's actually the Black Omen, the remains of the Ocean Palace. This place will be important in Event 8. Then your crew lands the Epoch. Congratulations! You're through with the steps! But the game's only about 5/8 done! Next are the long, grueling events! Good luck! ____________________________________________________________________________ -=< 6. Events Description/Walkthrough >=- The Events take the same form as the Steps, but are probably are as twice as long. Steps 2-7 can be done in any order, but 1 MUST be first and 8 MUST be last. -< Event 1 - The Time Egg >- Items: Chrono Trigger, Crono Clone, Magic Ring, Wall Ring, Giga Arm, Brave Sword, Star Scythe, Vedic Blade, Dark Helmet, Memory Cap, Magic Tab Suggested Party: Anyone Last Village - 12000 BC After you get out of the Epoch, go to the Nu's item shop. Buy something from him, and then wait for him to walk out. Then grab the Magic Tab from behind him. Then head to the North Cape. North Cape - 12000 BC Go to the edge and inspect the sparkle. Magus is there! He jumps out at you and starts badmouthing you. You also find out that he is really Janus grown-up. When he was a kid, he was send to 600 AD by Lavos and was seeking revenge at the time when you all got there. But now, he wants to fight. Decline his offer. Then he joins the party and tells you that Gaspar know how to stop time. If you were paying any attention to the flashback, you saw that Gaspar was sent to the End of Time. So go there. The End of Time You go and talk to the old man. Then he starts to play a memory song in tribute to Crono. Then he stops you from leaving and gives you the Chrono Trigger, the time egg. Then you find out that the old man is really Gaspar! He tells you now to go talk to Bethalsar. If you remember, he was sent 2300 AD in that warp. So go to the Keeper's Dome. Keeper's Dome - 2300 AD Head to the back room where you got the Epoch. The Nu there (Bethalsar) will tell you that you need that egg you have and a clone identical to the person. He refers you to Norstein Bekkler. He likes fairs, he said. So, whet do you do? Head to the fair in the present! Leene Square - 1000 AD Norstein's tent is to the right after you enter. But, first, you need 40 Silver Points. Beat up Gato a couple of times to get some, then go to the tent. Play the game and go to Crono's house to get it. Truce Village - 1000 AD The clone is by Crono's bed. His mom is up there, making his bed. She asks you how well he's doing. You don't really tell her anything, so you pick the clone up. Head back to the Keeper's Dome to find out what to do next. Keeper's Dome - 2300 AD Go back to the Nu. He tells you that the last program Bethalsar programmed into him was to help you get up Death Peak. He sends three little dolls to Death Peak to help you out. To get Crono back, you need to get to the top. Time to head to the peak. It's to the north. Death Peak - 2300 AD Suggested Party: Robo, Ayla, Magus Talk to the first doll. He tell you to hide behind a tree when the wind picks up. You'll be blown down to the bottom if you don't, so hide behind them. After you get through that part, head up. Go to the left. You can't get that chest there right now, so don't even try. You'll be able to get it later, however. Then go up the tall ladder and down the small slope. Beat the Krakkers and go to the right. Go up until you reach a cave door. Go into it. Inside is a Lavos Spawn. Don't attack it's shell; it'll spit needles at you. There's three of them on the peak. Then get the chest and go up. You'll have one (maybe two) battles in the next area. Then head down into the cave again. Fight the Krakkers and go down once again. See that sparkle just to the left? Go and touch it to open a door down below. Go back upward, to the left, and down. This is also a great place to build levels. I suggest being at least at level 45 before continuing. Then head down below. Grab the chest that's far to the south, then head north to the door opening you just opened. Grab the chests in the cave and head up. There's another Lavos Spawn here. Beat it and go left. The doll warns you that the ledge is extremely slippery, so take heed of the warning and be careful. It may take you a few times to get across, but if you work at it, you will. Then fight as many Krakkers as you can in the next area, then head down. Once on the ledge, head down and to the left. The doll tells you to "push the shell... climb the shell..." Now you can get the chest you saw at the beginning of Death Peak. Climb down the ladder and get it, then climb back up it and go up. There's the final Lavos Spawn there. Beat it as normal, but this time, the shell stays. Push the shell over to the shortened ladder and climb up it. Then you're at the top! As you take out the egg, the pendant starts glowing. The pendant puts energy into the egg. It's so much that it shatters! Then, one of your party members begs for a sign. The moon eclipses the sun, and you're sent back to the exact moment of Crono's death. You exchange the clone for the real one and you're warped back to the top of Death Peak. Then you're teleported back to the End of Time. -< Event 2 - The Hero's Grave >- Items: Magic Tab, Kali Blade, Nova Armor, Siren The End of Time Everyone welcomes Crono back. Now you can switch him in and out now, now that he doesn't have to be in front all the time. Also, the next six events don't have to be done in this order. Go to the Northern Ruins in 600 AD. It's on the island farthest to the east. Northern Ruins - 600 AD As you can see, this place is in shambles. You can't get anywhere! You need to find someone who will fix it. Head back to the village and find the carpenter in the cafe. Choras Village - 600 AD The guy chugging down beer right in front of you when you enter is your target. Annoy him a few times, then he'll tell you that he has no tools. Then go to the present to find some. Choras Village - 1000 AD Go to the guy in the bar also chugging down beer and ask him for his tools. He says that they're at home and you can borrow them. Head to the house sitting all by itself. The wife in there is yelling her head off, but she still gives you the tools. Then go back to the guy in 600 AD. Choras Village - 600 AD The guy will go and repair the ruins for you now. Head up there now to check on them. Northern Ruins - 600 AD They're getting out of there because there are too many ghosts. Go through the place and find all the battles. In the left door there should be 3 battles and in the right there should be two or three. Clear them out and go to the carpenter's house. It may take some finding. Choras Village - 600 AD Talk to the carpenter. For 2000G he'll do it for you. Give him the money and he'll do some more. Go back up there. Northern Ruins - 600 AD They run out of there yet again. Go back through the two areas, clearing everything out. Then go back to his house and get him back there. Choras Village - 600 AD This should be the last time you call them back, but if you forgot something or missed something, you've got to clear it out and call them back over there. Pay them the money and have them fix it again. Northern Ruins - 600 AD Suggested Party: Frog and anyone else Once they've done all the repairing, head in the door to the right from the entrance. Then walk across to the next door and go in. Then go talk to the tombstone. It's the ghost of Cyrus! They reacquaint, and with knowing that Cyrus's spirit will rest in peace, he departs. But, before that, he powers up the Masamune, making it Frog's most powerful weapon. Then head back to the End of Time for your next situation. -< Event 3 - The Green Dream >- Items: Aeon Helmet, Elixir, Full Tonic, Lapis, Muscle Ring, 5000G, Aeon Suit, 2 Full Ethers, Hyper Ether, Memory Cap, Power Tab, Green Dream The End of Time Suggested Party: Frog, Marle, Ayla Save and go beat Spekkio if you haven't already in that form. Then head to Fiona's Villa in 600 AD. Fiona's Villa - 600 AD She's complaining that her husband is still gone, and now she is because there's a desert taking away all the rich soil. If she's not complaining about the desert, follow the next parts. If she is, head to the next part that says "Sunken Desert - 600 AD". Commons - 12000 BC Find the woman right by the entrance with the plant. She asks you if she should plant it or burn it. Tell her to plant it. If she doesn't ask you that question, then you've already burnt it and you can't do this event. Sorry! Then go to the Sunken Desert. Sunken Desert - 600 AD In the Sunken Desert, all the monsters' defenses are lowered by Water magic, since water hardens sand. Use those attacks frequently along with Ayla's strong attacks and the battles should go pretty quickly. Be sure to get all the items in the chests. There's a ton of them. Then, in the next area, there is a Retinite popping in and out of the sand. Get all the chests first and equip, then try to hit it. First, take out it's midsection (the eye) by using multiple Water attacks and then a strong attack like Ayla's Triple Kick. Then, using lots of Water attacks still, get rid of the top first, then the bottom. Suggested Party (after the battle): Robo and anyone else After the battle, clean out all the chests and leave. Head to Fiona's Villa. Fiona's Villa - 600 AD Fiona thanks you for getting rid of the sand monsters. Now she's complaining again. It's going to take her a long time to replant the forest. If you have Robo in the party, he'll offer to replant the forest for her. Don't worry, you'll get him back very soon. Head to 1000 AD now to see what it looks like. Overworld - 1000 AD Now, in place of the barren desert, there is a lush forest. In the middle of it is a shrine dedicated to Robo and Fiona for replanting the forest. Go in it. Fiona's Shrine - 1000 AD In the Shrine, the first nun on the right is selling some pretty powerful helmets, so that's worth taking a look at. Then go all the way up and pull Robo off the pedestal. Lucca will power him back up, and the scene now goes to a campfire. In the campfire scene, they're all talking about the Entity and how it changes everything. Then they start to get off on the subject on what was the most devastating thing in their childhood. Lucca doesn't want to talk about hers. Then everyone goes to sleep. During the night, Lucca gets up. Walk her over to the right and enter the gate there, which happens to be red. Inside, you're in Lucca's house in 990 AD. Read some of the journal pages to see what's going on, and go downstairs. Go into the kitchen and read the note. It says that the password for the machine is Lucca's mother's name, Lara. So, knowing that, head down into the main room. You find Lucca's mom cleaning the machine when all of a sudden, it's turned on! And then her mom's dress gets a snag in it! To turn it off, go over to the flash on the side. After it tells you to supply the password, type in 'L'A'R'A'. Don't type it in too fast, or else it won't register. If you save her, she'll have legs in the future. If you don't, she'll stay the same. Back in Lucca's room, it looks like she's crying. Then go back into the gate. Robo's there. If you didn't save her, he'll offer his legs to help her walk. Then she says how nice he is. Or, he'll tell her that it was a nice thing to do. Either way, you'll get the Green Dream, which is a one-time Revive you wear as an accessory. After that, head to the End of Time to save. -< Event 4 - Ozzie's Fort >- Items: Dash Ring, Doom Sickle, Flea Vest, Full Ether, Gloom Helm, Gloom Cape, Magic Tab, Ozzie Pants, Sight Cap, Slasher 2 Ozzie's Fort - 600 AD Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Robo Ozzie's Fort is located just to the east of Magus's Castle. Be sure to have Magus in the party. Also, if you use the suggested party, equip the Blue Rock on someone. When you enter, you meet Ozzie once again. He thinks that Magus betrayed the Mystics. Then head up through the door to fight with Super Slash, and then Flea Plus. In the room where Ozzie tempts you to walk under a blade to get a chest, go to the doorway leading upwards. Don't go in it, but stand right in front of it. Walk down and into he wall. It should reveal a secret area with all of Magus's ultimate stuff. Then, continue up to the battle with all three. But before that, I suggest putting Ayla in your party. If you put Ayla in your party, charm all three of their ultimate items. (Flea Vest, Ozzie Pants, Slasher 2) Then go after each one individually, using your strongest attacks. Then, loot the chests and head up. Another battle like the previous Ozzie battle awaits, but this time, the switch you hit sends you falling. But, when you meet back up with him again, a cat hits the correct switch and sends him falling. -< Event 5 - The Geno Dome >- Items: 65000G, 2 Full Ethers, 2 Full Tonics, Elixir, 2 Figurines, Hyper Ether, 2 Lapises, Magic Tab, Mega Elixir, Power Tab, Vigil Hat, Ribbon, Terra Arm, Crisis Arm, Speed Tab Geno Dome - 2300 AD Suggested Party: Robo (must be at the front) and anyone else If you're having trouble trying to find the Geno Dome, it's located southeast of the Proto Dome. Robo MUST be at the front of the party at all times so he can work all the computers and so you can get in. In the beginning, you turn on the computer, and Mother Brain (the one who made Robo and the guardian of the Dome) recognizes Robo as Prometheus. Robo's former name, before he got his new one, was Prometheus. Mother Brain doesn't think highly of humans, so when you walk through the door, you get a few easy battles tossed at you. She is surprised you got through those, and now you have to go through the biggest and most confusing maze in the game. To start off, Robo must get charged at one of the charging stations. If you look just to the left of the door just to your left, you'll see one. (And the only one, as a matter of fact) If you walk in there, you'll see that Robo is charged. You have to charge the pods, as you see to the right of the door. Some are closed, so you have to flip a switch by those. A few doors require to be charged to open, and that's why this is so hard to get through. You also have to have two figurines to have access to the fight with Mother Brain. Head up through the passage just to the right and go through the door. If you continue up, you'll see three switches on the wall, all green. Flip the left and right switches to make them red, opening up the charging pod for the door. Head to the charging pod, get charged, and head up to that door. Charge the door and pick up the figurine. The second one is much more trickier to get. Head back to the entrance, and head to the right and go in that door. But don't go through the dust chute (the shiny dot); it takes you back to the entrance. Go in the door and take the elevator up. Once you get off, head to the door on your immediate left. Walk through the hallway and go up through the door. Continue going up, and then take the elevator. Once you get off the elevator, go down and flip the switch on the wall. This turns off the security beam. But do NOT go on the conveyor yet. If you head back up and look on the top of the walls to the left, you'll see an arrow pointing left. Skirk the wall to get to the switch on the other side. Flip the switch. That switched the direction of the conveyor belt. That's important, and you'll see why. Go back through the wall and go onto the conveyor belt, and take it all the way down. Go to the right and back down to the entrance. Instead of going up this time, take the corridor to the left. If you go up this, you'll see that there's a robot blocking your way to the other figurine. You have to get another robot to interfere with it so you can get it. Head back over to the conveyor and go up. When you get to the top of it, go left and open the charging pod. Then, go back down, get charged, and go back up and charge the door. Inside is the other robot. Get the chests inside first. Then walk around the robot and then walk through it. It should start to follow you. It walks slowly, and it gets trapped easily. Make sure it's right behind you at all times, and take it to the figurine place. Place it in front of the other and get the figurine. Walk down and back to the right, and go to the door by the dust chute. Ride the elevator up. But, this time, go down. Head to the left, and you'll see a pink robot that looks like Robo. That's his former girlfriend. Her name is Atropos XR. (Atropos for short) But Mother Brain reprogrammed her, and now she wants Mother Brain to reprogram him! Then they have a fight over his name, and you go into a battle. But Robo has to fight this one solo. After you win, she gives him her bow, increasing Robo's speed by 3 and magic defense by 10. Then go in the door upwards, and head back and save. Then head further to the right, go up, and head down the ladder. Go around the corner and head up. Go through the door and you'll see a place where humans are killed! And the computers don't work! Go to the door on the right and get the chest. Backtrack and head back up the ladder. Head up and fight the Laser Guards, then place the two figurines on the two pedestals, one to the left and one to the right. Head up and fight Mother Brain. When you win, you the Terra Arm and the Crisis Arm. Then you're immediately teleported out of the Dome. -< Event 6 - The Quest for the Sun Stone >- Items: Moon Stone, Sun Stone, Jerky, Sun Shades, Wonder Shot Sun Palace - 2300 AD Suggested Party: Anyone, just make sure they have Ruby Armor on To get Ruby Armor, go to Ioka Village in 65000000 BC and trade the guy 10 of each thing (Fang, Horn, Petal, Feather) to get one. Then go to the Sun Palace. Just go east and a bit south from the Geno Dome to reach it. Inside is the Son of Sun. After you beat it, it makes a path to the Moon Stone. The Moon Stone is the Sun Stone, just out of power. To recharge it, go to the Sun Keep in 65000000 BC to start charging it. Sun Keep - 65000000 BC The Sun Keep is in the same place in each time period. It's located on the northeast of the map. It's on a island. Step up to the beam of light and place it there. Then head to 2300 AD to pick it up, fully charged. Sun Keep - 2300 AD It's gone! Someone must've stolen it! But nobody could've here. Go back to 1000 AD. Sun Keep - 1000 AD Just as you'd expect, it's gone. Someone stole it in this period. Search around the map. There's something in the mayor's house in Porre that's flashing. Go take a look. Porre Village - 1000 AD The mayor, as you remember, is greedy, and he won't give the Moon Stone up. Only one thing to do: alter the past. Go to the Snail Stop in the same village and buy some Jerky. Then go to the mayorās house in 600 AD. Porre Village - 600 AD GIVE it, NOT sell it to the woman that needs it to cook something. Then she'll tell you that she'll teach sharing. Then go back to the mayor's house in 1000 AD. Porre Village - 1000 AD Talk to the mayor again, and he'll give the stone to you. Go back to the Sun Keep. Sun Keep - 1000 AD Place the stone back into the beam of light and go to 2300 AD. Sun Keep - 2300 AD Suggested Party: Lucca and anyone else Get the Sun Stone and you'll go to Lucca's house. Lucca's House - 1000 AD She'll make herself a weapon, the Wonder Shot, and her dad will make the Sun Shades. Then you're done with this one. -< Event 7 - The Rainbow Shell >- Items: Sight Cap, 3 Power Tabs, 2 Full Ethers, Blue Rock, Zodiac Cape, 3 Lapises, Frenzy Band, 4 Hyper Ethers, 3 Elixirs, Prism Shard, Yakra Key, Rainbow, Prism Specs, 3 Prism Helms or 1 Prism Dress, Mega Elixir, Red Mail Choras Village - 600 AD Suggested Party: Anyone Head to the Cafe, and fine Toma. Talk to him, and he'll give you Toma's Pop that he wants you to pour on his grave when he dies. Then, go back to 1000 AD and go to the West Cape. West Cape - 1000 AD Go up to his grave and read it to pour the pop on it. Toma's ghost will come up and show you where the Giant's Claw is. It's located just to the north of the cape in 600 AD. Go there. Giant's Claw - 600 AD Suggested Party: Ayla and anyone else Read the journal paper. It shows that Toma tried to jump down a hole that he was supposively wasn't supposed to. Continue on, and the music will change. It sounds and looks like the Tyrano Lair from 65000000 BC! The party will acknowledge that and head on. From here you can take either path. LEFT PATH: If you choose the left path, it's pretty straightforward. Just go through the rooms that you encounter and right the battles until you get to the rope ladder. Then skip the next section and head on. RIGHT PATH: If you choose the right path, go up the doorway and hit all the switches. One of them makes a save point pop up. The others make holes in the floor and the mouth open in front of you. Get the Power Tab in the small room behind the mouth. Then, remember Toma's journal? "Maybe if I jump down the hole on purpose..." Do exactly that. Jump down the hole. Then go down and through the mouth and door. When you come out, walk to the ladder and get the Power Tab you saw when you exited. (It's right up against the wall on the right.) Then walk around the hole and fight the Fossil Apes and Leapers and get the Blue Rock in the chest in the wall. Then go down, where the paths join. Head down the ladder and go around until you reach the next doorway. Go up it. This was the entrance of the Tyrano Lair. Go into the open mouth. Step on the switches to make the enemies to away, or fight them, and go to the left door to get the chest in the room. Then go in the right doorway. Fight the Rubbles and go in the next room. Then open one of the eggs. If it's the switch, you'll fall down. The other is an item. You want to fall down anyway. Once you fall down, go out the door, turn left and go up the stairs. Grab the Power Tab there and go back down the stairs. Head in the other door and go downstairs. Save and open the jail cell and go in the door there. Inside is the Rust Tyrano. He's the same as the Black Tyrano, just with more HP. Beat it and you'll get the Rainbow Shell. It's too hard to carry, so you go back to Guardia to get some help. Guardia Castle - 600 AD You tell them that you need the shell and need them to keep it for the future. Then go to the present-day castle. Guardia Castle - 1000 AD Suggested Party: Marle and anyone else When you walk into the castle, you find out that the King is on trial for supposively selling the Rainbow Shell. It's another one of the Chancellor's bad trials, and he pulls in someone that claims to have bought the shell, but the King's never seen him before! While all this is happening, you run into the courtroom. The Chancellor demands to see a piece of the shell. So you run to the newly-formed basement to get one. While you're doing that, you see scenes of jurors saying "Guilty" and some other stuff. Try to avoid all the battles you can because they're with these enemies you met at the beginning of the game. Also, you can take any of the chests you can reach. Once you reach the shell, Marle reads a note written by Queen Leene. Then you get the Prism Shard, a piece of the Rainbow Shell. But when you want to get back into the courtroom, the guards say no. But Marle knows a back way. Back in the courtroom, the judge declares the King guilty and the Chancellor declares the Guardia reign ending. But, here comes Marle bursting out on the scene with the Prism Shard! Then the Chancellor turns into Yakra XIII. After the fight, you see a spot over there. Return there after everything to get it. Marle and her father make up, and the scene is taken to the throne room. Melchior comes in and heads down to see the Rainbow Shell. But, before going there, go back up to the courtroom to get the spot. It's the Yakra Key which opens the chest that's locked in one of the rooms leading to the courtroom. Inside is the real Chancellor, and he runs downstairs to get ready for the Moonlight Parade. Now, go down to the basement. Melchior is standing there, admiring the shell. He makes you some Prism Specs, which increase your attack to the max; a Rainbow, Crono's most powerful weapon; and a choice between one Prism Dress and three Prism Helms. The Prism Dress can be only worn by females, but it's the most powerful armor. The Prism Helms are less powerful, but you get three. Choose one, and leave the castle. CONGRATULATIONS! Only one more event to go, but this one by far takes up the most time in the game. You also have to do this one last. -< Event 8 - The Fated Hour >- Items: 30000G, 2 Elixirs, Haste Helmet, Magic Seal, 6 Mega Elixirs, Nova Armor, Power Seal, 4 Speed Tabs, Vigil Hat, White Rock, Zodiac Cape Black Omen - Any time period, but I always do it in either 2300 AD or 1000 AD first, then do it in other periods for more experience Suggested Party: Anyone This is just a warning. Don't do this event unless you have lots of spare time. There are only two or three save points in this entire place. And the boss battles seem to take forever to do. When I tell you what to do, I'm really skipping most of the time spent going through the battles. You've been warned. If you want to get back on the Epoch, just go to the end of the bridge and examine the shiny dot. When you enter, you're greeted by Queen Zeal. After she talks, she unveils a huge, two-part monster! After you're done, just realize that you've just beaten the weakest boss in this place. There's two more Mutants, a Lavos Spawn, Zeal herself, the Mammon Machine, and Zeal transformed into her REAL self, an ugly head and set of arms. After you beat the Mega Mutant, continue up and to the right. A tip: Don't attack the Goons with magic; then only are hurt by physical attacks. In fact, the magic actually acts as a healer to them. Continue through the area and head up. There are many battles with Panels. Ayla can steal a Speed Tab from one, so it's good to have her in the party. I put all the things Ayla can charm from monsters in section 19, "Other Neat CT Stuff." The enemies are listed under 12000 BC. Take a look! The Boss Orb/Side Kick trios really aren't hard, it just seems like it when they take all your item and tech capabilities away. They're just like the Rubble and Turrets you met in earlier places, so they don't attack. But, especially the Side Kicks, are very hard to hit. If you take too long, they run away. Continue on through the sections until you get to this teleporter. Walk into it and you'll be transported to the next leg of the place. It starts with one of those annoying elevator rides that seem to take forever to get through. After you get off the elevator, you'll run into these things called Ruminators. You can charm a Mega Elixir from each. (A Mega Elixir restores HP and MP for everyone) From here on out, there can be many multiple paths to take that lead to the same place. But take them all to get as much experience as possible to prepare for Lavos at the end of the Omen. Continue through the areas until you reach the two Nus. Loot the chests in the room. Save at the first save point in the place, and talk to the one on the left. It'll sell you some items. Only talk to the one on the right if you desire to go back to the beginning of the Omen. To open a door, walk right between the Nus, and run straight into the wall. Examine the wall, and somewhere around there a secret door opens up. Walk through it. Another great tip: To get more Power Tabs here, continuously fight the Tubster in this room, steal the Power Tab from him, and leave the room and come back in and do the same thing. If you do this enough, you'll have tons of Power Tabs. Then continue on up. Try to avoid the mask-thingies in the next room, but fight as many of the Ruminators as you can to get a big stock of Mega Elixirs. After you're done charming, continue through. In the next room is a great opportunity to get some experience from the Boss Orb/Side Kick duos in there. Continue on and go down. In the next room are these monsters called Flyclops. Charm a Gold Stud from them. Then go down. Take the Speed Tab from the chest in the room and go up. Walk up the steps and on to the tile with a weird design on it. You'll get teleported to the next area. Once you come up, go up. Charm a Magic Tab from all the Aliens in this section and grab the Mega Elixir from the chest at the end and go up. Prepare for the fight with the Giga Mutant, because here it comes, right in your face. You'll run across the second save point in here, so save while you have the chance. Use only magic on it because that's the only thing that hurts it. Then, walk into the next room. Get transported yet again. Then, after you get off, you have to get on an elevator, so get ready for that. After you get off the elevator, go up through the next area and prepare to fight the Terra Mutant after the battle with the four Panels. Same as before, use magic, but don't attack the bottom. It goes away with the top. Right after that is a battle with a Lavos Spawn. It's the same as before, just with more HP. After that, prepare for a long string of three long boss battles, so get the best party ready. First is the Queen. She uses a hallucination spell to make all you Hp to go to 1, so be ready to heal frequently. After that, the Mammon Machine comes. If you beat it quickly enough, it won't attack you. And, finally, comes the battle with Zeal's real face and hands. Attack the face because when it goes down, the rest goes with it. After that, the Black Omen will fall to the ocean, and you're confronted by Lavos. Lavos here comes in nine forms, each like one used by a previous boss. Here's the order: 1. Dragon Tank 2. Guardian and Bits 3. Heckran 4. Zombor 5. Masa and Mune 6. Nizbel 7. Magus 8. Black Tyrano/Azala 9. Giga Gaia The battles will be easier than before since you have more experience. There's also healing time between the battles. You can't save between them though. After the nine forms, he goes to his self. After you beat him that way, the head goes away and the shell is opened. Inside you can either save or go back to the End of Time. For more info on the rest of the battle, go to the "Beating the Bosses" section, number 16. CONGRATULATIONS! You're done with the Events! Hopefully, next time you don't need this guide to walk you through. You can still use this as a guide for the items, enemies, etc. lists. Lean back, and relax for a moment, because you'll probably want to try the New Game +. Beating the Bosses >=- Yakra - 600 AD - Cathedral - 920 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Frog As the first boss in the game, he isn't very hard. Use X-Strike continuously on him while Lucca heals you up. The thing that really hurts is his "Drrrr..." (or something like that). Dragon Tank - 600 HP \ Grinder - 208 HP >- 1000 AD - Guardia Dungeon Tank Head - 266 HP / Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca You MUST beat the head first. If you don't beat it, you'll have such a hard time with the rest of the Tank. What it does is it heals up most of your damage after a couple of blows has been taken. Don't use Flame Toss; it does nothing. Slash is useless too, since it heals immediately after any major damage (100 or over or all parts are hit). After the head, the rest is easy; just have Crono attack and Lucca heal. (Yes, the tank can still attack without a head.) Guardian (1200 HP) & Bits (200 HP) - 2300 AD - Arris Dome Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle When you come in here, it's a necessity to be at full power. The Bits attack hard and often. You must beat the bits before you go after the Guardian unless you want to be hit by a powerful Delta attack. Use Aura Whirl to heal. After the Bits are gone, then attack the Guardian. If you don't do 1200 HP or more, the Bits may be resurrected and you'll have to get rid of them again. Do the same as before, and the rest is a breeze. R-Series - 2300 AD - Factory - 150 HP each Suggested Party: Crono, Marle (for healing) The key here is to plan your attacks. From the start you see that the R-Series attack fast, and they all have 20+ attacks, so wait for a break in the action before you do a Cyclone, the easiest way to beat them. Two Cyclones will do it. In between, use Aura Whirl to heal. After the first three are gone, it'll be easier to beat the other three. Heckran - 1000 AD - Heckran's Cave - 2100 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Marle, Lucca Heckran, like all the other monsters in the cave, is hurt by magic only. Use all the magic you can muster to beat him. But he can counterattack with his own slew of magic. They take off huge chunks of HP per hit, so watch out what you do. Don't attack him when he says, "Go ahead! Try and attack!" because it is possible that it can wipe out your party in an instant. Zombor - 600 AD - Zenan Bridge Head - 960 HP Body - 800 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle The key to beating Zombor is to know which part of him to attack with what. Attack the top with Marle's Ice attacks and the bottom with Crono's and Lucca's magic. Save the top for last because it zaps all your MP when you get rid of it. After you beat him, you can go and stay at an inn. Heal as needed. Masa & Mune - 600 AD - Denadoro Mts. Separate - 1000 HP apiece, Joined - 3600 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Robo When they're separate, concentrate on Masa (the blue one) since he has the lower defense. When they're fused, however, they have a powerful Tornado attack. When they're powering up for it, neutralize the power (stop it) by using Slash. Use Robo mainly as a healer, with an attack here or there. Let Crono and Lucca steal the show with their Fire Sword and Slash. Nizbel - 65000000 BC - Reptite Lair - 4200 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Marle Nizbel's defense, like most other Prehistoric monsters, is lowered by using Lightning attacks. Use Lightning attacks a few times before you attacks him, since his defense goes up with any other attacks. Just follow the same pattern Lightning - Attack - Lightning - Attack and you'll have him done in a flash. Slash - 600 AD - Magus's Castle First Phase - 3200 HP Second Phase - 5200 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Frog, Robo Slash, the master swordsman, is really easy to attack and beat in his first phase. Use the X-Strike continuously along with Robo's Robo Tackle and he grabs his Slasher and gets another 5200 HP. In the second phase, use Robo mainly for healing. Use the X-Strike again some more and he's gone. Flea - 600 AD - Magus's Castle - 4120 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Frog, Marle The first Flea you face is a Juggler. Have the last attack done on him by either Crono or Frog because he takes all the MP away from the last attacker before he dies. That bat that was following you through the Magic Cave and the beginning of the castle was the real Flea. Be sure to have as much un-confusing stuff that you can get for this battle, because she does lots of confusing techs. Use X-Strike again against her. Ozzie - 600 AD - Magus's Castle - ???? HP Suggested Party: Anyone Don't attack Ozzie. If you try to, you'll never be able to beat him. Go for the pulleys to his sides. There are four of them to hit. He'll fall down a hole after the fourth. Magus - 600 AD - Magus's Castle - 6666 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Frog, Lucca or Robo At the beginning, have Frog attack him with the Masamune. It lowers his magic defense. Then, he starts changing his barriers. If it's Lightning, have Crono attack; if it's Water, have Frog or Marle attack; if it's Fire, have Lucca attack; and if it's Shadow, have Robo attack. Use regular attacks if you don't have that type of magic. Also, be sure to continuously have Frog attack. Then, after a while, he shuts off his defense and builds up power. During this time, you can use any type of attack you want. It's a breeze then. But beware of his Dark Matter!!! Nizbel II - 65000000 BC - Tyrano Lair - 6500 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Robo He's just like the other Nizbel except he has more HPs. Beat him as before, using lots of Lightning attacks followed by physical attacks. Azala - 2700 HP \ Tyrano Lair Black Tyrano - 10000 HP / 65000000 BC Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Marle Concentrate your attacks on Azala first. Volt Bite and any Ice magic works well. It may take a little while to get him gone. Then, after he's dead, the Black Tyrano will spit fire. Only attack him while his defense is off. He'll count down from 5, and when he reaches 0, he spits it. So when he gets to about 1 or 2, stop attacking and get ready to heal. Continue that pattern until he's dead. Golem - 12000 BC - Zeal Palace - 7000 HP Suggested Party: Crono and anyone else The Golem has this weapon, the Steel Ball, that reduces your HP by 1/2. They can also copy your magic ability and throw it back at you. It doesn't really matter if you win or lose this battle, so don't work too hard. Mud Imp - 1200 HP \ Blue Beast - 5000 HP >- 12000 BC - Beast's Lair Red Beast - 5000 HP / Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Marle Get rid of the Beasts first. The quickest was to beat them is to use the magic of their opposite color. For example, use Fire on blue and Water on red. After they're gone, concentrate on the Mud Imp. Use your strongest abilities to beat him. You can also charm a Speed Tab from him. Giga Gaia - 12000 BC - Mt. Woe Head - 9500 HP Arms - 2000 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Lucca, Ayla Go into this battle with all of the magic-protection stuff on. (Red, White, Blue, Black Vests) Concentrate on the hands first, especially the one on the left, since this arm heals. After the arms are gone, attack the head. Flame Kick and Fire Sword work well. If you put on the vests, you'll see the effects of them. Dalton - 12000 BC - Zeal Palace - 3500 HP Suggested Party: Crono, Robo, Ayla Dalton really isn't that hard. A great attack on him is the Beast Toss, which usually takes off around 750 per throw. But, he also has the Steel Balls. Also, prepare for his Bluuuurrrppp at the end. GolemTwins - 12000 BC - Ocean Palace - 10000 HP each Suggested Party: Crono, Ayla, Robo This is the same battle as before with the one Golem except for two things: 1) there are two of them, and 2) they have more HP. Luminaire works best on them I've found. They have Steel Balls, so have Robo heal after getting hit by one. GolemBoss - 12000 BC - Blackbird - 15000 HP Suggested Party: Lucca, Marle, Ayla The best way to combat this foe is to use powerful, magical double techs like Fire Whirl, Antipode 2, and Cube Toss. Heal when necessary. He also is afraid of heights, and he never attacks you, so you don't have to worry about that. Dalton Plus - 12000 BC - Blackbird - 3500 HP Suggested Party: Lucca, Marle, Ayla He's exactly the same as before, but he gets sent through a gate when you take off all of his HP. Lavos Spawns (3) - 2300 AD - Death Peak - 4000 HP Suggested Party: Robo, Magus, Marle Whatever you do, don't attack its shell. If you do, you'll get a spiky avalanche. Concentrate on the head, and use regular attacks if you have to. Retinite - 600 AD - Sunken Desert Head - 5000 HP Eye - 1400 HP Legs - 4800 HP Suggested Party: Ayla, Marle, Frog Get the eye (midsection) first. Have Ayla Triple Kick it while Frog and Marle use their Water magic to keep its defense down. Go for the head next, then the body. Super Slash - 600 AD - Ozzie's Fort - 4000 HP Suggested Party: Magus, Crono, Frog Just beat him as before, just add in one or two of Magus's attacks to add some spice to it. Flea Plus - 600 AD - Ozzie's Fort - 4000 HP Suggested Party: Magus. Crono, Frog Use your strongest magic against her. But otherwise, same as Super Slash, beat her as before. Great Ozzie - 6000 HP \ Super Slash - 4000 HP >- 600 AD - Ozzie's Fort Flea Plus - 4000 HP / Suggested Party: Magus, Marle, Lucca Get the Black Rock equipped on someone before you enter the battle. Dark Eternal is the best attack on them. Also, if you happen to put Ayla in your party, steal all their "super" items away from them. Atropos XR - 2300 AD - Geno Dome - 6000 HP Suggested Party: Robo Robo must fight this on his own. Keep him healed with the Cure Beam, and use Shock or Uzzi Punch to attack her. If you're an MP conserver, you can also use Robo Tackle to efficiently beat her. Mother Brain - 5000 HP \_ 2300 AD Displays (3) - 1 HP each / Geno Dome Suggested Party: Robo, Frog, Ayla Equip the Silver Rock on someone before the battle. Destroy the Displays, then use Spin Strike on the Displays. If you don't have that yet, you can use the same strategy with any other attacks or people. Son of Sun - 2300 AD - Sun Palace - 2100 HP Suggested Party: Anyone (just make sure you all have Ruby Armor) The Sun of Sun takes a different strategy to beat. Don't attack him directly, but attack all the little flames. One of the five does damage to him; the other four do flame counterattacks. He also shuffles them around once in a while. It takes about 10 hits to beat him. Rust Tyrano - 600 AD - Giant's Claw - 25000 HP Suggested Party: Ayla, Lucca, Robo (with Ruby Armor on) Charm a Red Mail from him at the very beginning. He counts down from 5, as before with the Black Tyrano, before he does the Fire attack. You can tell if he's getting low on HP when he starts eating people up. Use Robo to heal, and use Fire Whirl on him. Yakra XIII - 1000 AD - Guardia Castle - 18000 HP Suggested Party: Marle, Lucca, Magus Again, this is a fine time to use Dark Eternal on him. But be ware of his spikes. He throws them out often and he also throws out a set right before he dies. They take off an average of about 175 on everyone. Mega Mutant - 12000 BC - Black Omen Top - 4500 HP Bottom - 3800 HP The Mega Mutant is only hurt by magic. Also, charm a Vigil Hat from the bottom. Giga Mutant - 12000 BC - Black Omen Top - 5900 HP Bottom - 5000 HP Same as before with the Mega Mutant, use only magic. Also, charm a Wall and Hit Ring from it. Terra Mutant - 12000 BC - Black Omen Top - 8000 HP Bottom - 20000 HP Use magic on this one too, but don't even worry about attacking the lower half. It goes away when the upper half does. Plus it has too many HP to deal with. Zeal - 12000 BC - Black Omen - 12000 HP Suggested Party: Anyone She uses a hallucination spell which reduces everyone's HP to 1, so be ready at all times to heal. She does it frequently without warning. Otherwise, just use your best attacks. Mammon Machine - 12000 BC - Black Omen - 18000 HP Suggested Party: Anyone If you use physical attacks against it, it raises it's defense. But, if you use magic, it raises its attack power. So use magic. It hardly attacks anyway. Zeal (Face & Hands) - 12000 BC - Black Omen Face - 20000 HP Hands - N/A Suggested Party: Anyone Charm a Prism Dress, a Prism Helm, and a Mega Elixir from them, then concentrate all your fire on the head. The hands aren't gone until the head is, so it's useless to attack the hands. Lavos (Shell) - 1999 AD - Overworld - 10000 HP If it's using bosses' forms, check the separate bosses above. Suggested Party: Anyone If you're fighting from the Black Omen or the bucket at the End of Time, you fight Lavos first in the form of 9 bosses you faced before. The 9 are: 1. Dragon Tank 2. Guardian & Bits 3. Heckran 4. Zombor 5. Masa & Mune (fused) 6. Nizbel 7. Magus 8. Azala & Black Tyrano 9. Giga Gaia Beat them as before. Then, after that, or if you're fighting him from somewhere else, he's in his actual form. There is only one target to attacks, and it's not his shell. It's the little pulsating heart part. Use your best attacks and magic to beat him. But beware of all of his spikes and whatsoever that he throws at you! Lavos (Head and Arms) - 1999 AD - Overworld Head - 20000 HP L. Arm - 8000 HP R. Arm - 12000 HP Suggested Party: Anyone Concentrate on the arms before anything else. They are such nuisances, and they heal the head. Once they are gone, he lowers his defense to store power, and it's really to beat him then. (Plus, the music is my favorite from the game!) Lavos Core (Humanoid figure and pods) - 1999 AD - Overworld Humanoid Figure - 10000 HP L. Pod - 2000 HP R. Pod - 30000 HP Suggested Party: Anyone Lavos, you might think, is in the figure, but he is actually in the pod to the right. But, at the moment it's hard to do a lot of damage to it, so you need to get rid of the figure first. Any ultimate attack works well. After that, the right pod lowers its defense. Then attack it with magic. Don't even pay attention to the one on the right. If you keep attacking fast enough, the pods won't be able to resurrect the figure. But, if they do, just get rid of it and do as before. Then you've beat the game! Depending on when you beat him, you'll get a different ending, which all of them that are known are coming up in the next section. ___________________________________________________________________________ -=< 17. Endings >=- *NOTE* The Endings are in the order of which the steps they take place in. Also, the ending names are the steps during which you beat Lavos in. Most of these are done by using New Game + Mode. These are the only endings I've gotten. -< 1. Millennial Fair >- This is the hardest to get. First of all, you (obviously) have to use New Game + mode. You get out of bed, equip yourself, and change the game settings to where you want them. Then head off to the fair. You can choose not to bump into Marle if you choose to go by yourself. Either way, go to the Telepod device's right pod. You should see a sparkle in it. It's a secret gate that leads straight to the Day of Lavos! Beat Lavos to get the ending. This is one of the endings that you get to control the character in. Walk into each of the portals and talk to everyone. Also be sure to talk to everyone in the End of Time too. There's even a battle in one! Then, have Gaspar open the door. Inside is the production crew of Chrono Trigger. They talk about some stupid stuff, and then they fix up the credits so they go really fast, "just like your style". Then the ending's over. -< 2. We're Back! >- Hop into the Telepod as soon as you get back from 600 AD. All the people in this one are frogs, but have on human disguises. They ask you why aren't you talking like a frog. Then, you go back to 600 AD, and you see why the people are like that. It shows Frog marrying Leene! -< 3. The End of Time >- Beat Lavos as soon you get to the End of Time by using the bucket. This is called the "weak" ending. It really isn't interesting, though it is in some regards watching the Nu and Ribbit chasing each other around. -< 4. The Hero Appears >- Beat Lavos after you beat Zombor but before you get the Hero's Medal from Tata. Instead of you being the hero, you're now in a position like Magus and the real hero is called upon to get rid of you. The hero is: Tata! -< 5. Tata and the Frog >- Beat Lavos after you receive the Hero's Medal from Tata but before you go to 65000000 BC. This ending shows various scenes from each of the characters' lives afterwards. -< 6. Footsteps! Follow! >- Get this ending by beating Lavos after you get back to the End of Time, but before you give the Masamune back to Frog. This ending shows all the characters, some you haven't met yet, in their "still" forms. -< 7. The Masamune! >- Beat Lavos by giving Frog the Masamune, but before you beat Magus. The downside is that you are forced to have two of the three people in the party and can only switch out one. This ending starts out with Lucca fixing Robo and Frog setting out to do some "unfinished business". Then he fights Magus. -< 8. Unnatural Selection? >- Beat Lavos after you have Ayla back in your party but before you beat Azala and the Black Tyrano. This one shows what life would be like if you hadn't beaten the Reptites in the Prehistoric times. Because of this, everyone's a Reptite. -< 9. Break the Seal! >- Beat Lavos when you're thrown back in time after Schala makes the seal, but before she breaks it. This shows Magus going to the Ocean Palace to confront Lavos. -< 10. Lavos Beckons >- Beat Lavos after Schala opens the gate to the Ocean Palace. Marle and Lucca have a conversation about which guys from the game they like the best. And Crono finally talks! *NOTE* The next three endings are the normal endings that you don't have to have New Game + to do. You'll get one of these the first time you play through the game. -< 11. Anytime >- If you lose to Lavos, you'll see the destruction of the future world in 1999. It's the worst (but easiest) ending to get. -< 12. The Time Egg >- This one's similar to the next, but all you have to do is not go and get Crono back. This one shows all the characters lying around the End of time, going back to their time period. Then Marle and Lucca go to the fair. Marls walks around, and floats on a bundle of balloons. Then she somehow lands on the top of Death Peak, Crono walking in the distance... -< 12a. The Time Egg - Variation 1 >- If you beat Magus earlier, Frog will look like a human and the curse will be released. -< 13. The Fated Hour >- If you go through and beat Lavos any time after you get Crono back, you'll start over with the opening screens again. But this time some soldiers are in your room and they say you're being executed. But, when they take you to the castle, you see Doan, Kino, and King Guardia from 600 AD. Then you go to the Moonlight Parade. After that, the group goes to the Telepod and says goodbye. Also, Crono's mom goes inside and you hop into the Epoch to go find her. -< 13a. The Fated Hour - Variation 1 >- If you crash the Epoch, Crono's mom won't go into the gate, and Crono and Marle will float on a bundle of balloons to the sky. -< 13b. The Fated Hour - Variation 2 >- It you beat Magus earlier, Frog will look like a human and the curse will be released. ____________________________________________________________________________ -=< 18. "Famous" Quotes >=- Lucca upon meeting Frog: "You don't seem like a bad... uh, person--frog--thing... I mean..." Conversation about royalty and brains: Marle: "Wow, Lucca! You're amazing!" Lucca: (laughing) "Ain't it the truth. Er... um..." Marle: "Don't be so modest! I'd trade my regal standing for your brains any day!" Lucca: "Really!?" Lucca thinking about robots: "Hmmm, two-legged, walking humanoid robots are virtually impossible to create." The Chancellor at Crono's trial: "What shall we do with him? Fire, perhaps? Hang him upside down for a few years? Or shall we employ... the guillotine?" Marle and her father, about her "ideas": Marle: "Just because I have a title doesn't mean I'm not a person!" King: "You pick up strange ideas venturing outside!" Marle: "It's called 'common sense'! I despise you! I'm leaving! Let's go." Lucca and Marle, outside Guardia: Lucca: "But we don't know where it'll take us!" Marle: "Who cares? This place stinks, anyway!" Conversation about formal titles after fixing Robo: Marle: "This is Crono, and Lucca, here, fixed you." Robo: "Understood. Madam Lucca fixed me." Lucca: "Just call me Lucca. I have formal titles, don't you?" Marle: "Hate 'em!" Lucca when hearing Robo's serial number: "R66-Y? Cool!" Marle before fighting the R-Series: "You cocky boxes of bolts!" When first meeting Ayla: Ayla: "You strong. What name?" Ayla: "Crono? Crono good name. Me? Me..." Ayla: "Me Ayla. Ayla respect strong people. Men and women." Marle: "I think she likes you." Ayla inspecting Robo: Ayla: (walking around Robo) "You different, but strong too." Robo: "That's because I'm a robot." Ayla: "'Rawboot?' What that?" Robo: "It's a machine that looks like a man." Ayla: "Ayla no understand. Stop before Ayla head go boom!" Lucca after the prehistoric party: "Liar! I was a perfect lady last night! Uhhh.... why does my tummy hurt?" Frog and Slash's "reunion": Frog: "It's been ages, Sir Slush!.." Slash: "That's SLASH, you slimy dolt!" Magus's chanting: "Nuega, zeiner, zeiber, zom..." Ayla talking to Frog after beating Magus: Ayla: "Ayla go to mountain. Find you there, hurt. I carry back to hut." Frog: "Magus..." Ayla: "Yummy frog! For Ayla eat?" Frog: "Perish the thought, lass. By the way, whither the blue-haired one?" Ayla: "Only find you there. Blue-haired one more tasty?" Gaspar after returning from Crono's death: "The Guru of Time, eh? Heard of him, of course, but what do you want with him?" Robo when finding Gaspar's true identity: "Mr. Gaspar, I presume?" Gaspar when Crono's gone: "Hey, where's the healthy kid with the radical haircut?" Spekkio when Crono returns: "Hey! Punk head! Where ya been?" Lavos (Any time): "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr!" ____________________________________________________________________________ -=< 19. What this does is it allows you to start a game with the data from an existing file. For example, if I start a game + with a file that had Crono at level 50, the level of him when I'd start would be 50. This affects all characters and the items, too. It carries all the items into the new game, too. Just select the New Game + option and the directions will tell you the rest. -< Game Genie Codes >- As you can see, I don't have many codes, but I hope to find more soon in the next update! If I have joined GeoPlus (hopefully after the school year is done), my URL will be http://www.geocities.com/~ironfist5/, and if I can ever, my domain would (hopefully) be: http://www.ironfist.com/. *NOTE* If you use this on your page, I'd like to know. If anyone needs to know another place to get it, I can tell them. Mail me at IronFist5@juno.com to tell me or if you have any suggestions for when I go through and edit it. Plus, if you have any suggestions for any changes or if I forgot anything, please mail me at the address above. By no means am I affiliated with Squaresoft. Anything from the game is copyright 1995 by Squaresoft. This document, however is ©1997/1998 by Iron Fist (IronFist5). Any copying or reproducing must be OKed by me. It was started on 11/11/97 and finished on 1/14/98. I have no affiliation with Squaresoft whatsoever except I play the game and go to other web sites. The Chrono Trigger logo at the top I took from the Mynock's Guide, but I made some changes on it. I think it looks better now. And another thing about Mynock's guide, I found his way after I started this. (About 12/15) So I didn't copy off anyone's idea, and nobody can say I did. Nothing else was taken from it. Also I used Nintendo Power's Chrono Trigger Player's Guide (only the enemy and item info) to help make this. However, I beat the game numerous times before I got the guide. To visit some other great CT sites, check out my Chrono Trigger Fans Ring at http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ctfans;list (Has over 70) or the Squaresoft Ring: http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=squaresoft;list (Has over 600). To sign up for my ring, go to http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dungeon/1372/ring.html Don't sign up if you don't have a site, and please, don't send me any solicitations for your own ring. I only join rings that look good, and I don't pay attention to any ads. I just delete ads. Also, I've made The CTRPG, an IRC RPG that is about Chrono Trigger (obviously!) They're at 2:00 Central time on Saturday. To sign up, go to http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dungeon/1372/ctrpg.html If you want an ad placed here when I update the guide, just mail me. This was created on EditPad. To download it, go to any Tucows site and download it. I'll probably put it on my page for download eventually. It's pretty nifty. You can have multiple text documents open in one window. If you want to buy the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, go to http://www.kawaii-anime.com/cd-c-d.html. Here you can find the one CD remix versions of some of the songs, called the Brink of Time, for $15, and the original soundtrack 3 CD set for $45.
