The Saving Throw

Ever feel like a caveman? Now you can roleplay as one!

Mail Me | Contest #1 | Discuss | Roleplaying Forum

And so it begins. . .

Welcome to yet another edition of the Saving Throw. Today, we have three contest entries; please note that this is the last week to make a contest entry. Your entry should be in by Monday night so it can be published for the next week, after which the final guessing will occur and the winner announced the following week.

Surprisingly, there's not a lot to cover this week, probably because publishers were busy with Gen Con this last weekend. There's still some interesting news, including the winners of the ENnie Awards, a new upcoming game for the World of Darkness, and an upcoming comedic game based on caveman life.

Not much else to say, so let's move on to the column.

White Wolf Publishing Announces Changeling for World of Darkness
Source: White Wolf Publishing

White Wolf Publishing has announced that it will be releasing the fifth game in its World of Darkness setting, Changeling, in the summer of 2007. The game is reported to present challenges and dangers not seen before in World of Darkness.

When asked to describe the product, developer Ethan Skemp replied, "Changeling is a game of beauty and cruelty, of passion and loss, of dreams and madness. You have struggled your way back through the thorns only to find your life had been stolen from you. Now you make your way the best you can, attempting to piece together the fragments of your lost life or to forge a new one, chasing your ambition through the intrigues of the changeling courts and freeholds, and always looking over your shoulder lest the Others, the true Fae, return for you."

Firefly Games Acquires License to Produce New Edition of Og
Source: Firefly Games

Firefly Games will be releasing a licensed new edition of Og, a comedy game featuring cavemen and cavewomen, dinosaurs, and the problems faced by limited vocabularies. The game's ruleset will be redeveloped from the ground up. Og was originally published by Wingnut Games in 1995, and a second edition, Land of Og was released in 2000. Firefly Games intends to release its new edition of the game in 2007.

And so it ends. . .

That wraps up another Saving Throw. Remember, if you want to get a contest entry in, you have until Monday night. Other submissions are good too. So, until next week...
