The Saving Throw returns for another week. Today, John brings up a rather interesting misadventure about a priest who was captured attempting to steal a holy stone. His friends managed to liberate him, and then things got bad. For ending up with a holy stone in his chest at the end of this adventure, John earns himself a golden caret for this disaster.

Our own Red Raven also earns a golden caret for the being the first to submit fan material, specifically a prestige class for Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, 3.5 Edition.

A golden caret is still available to the first person to submit a review for a tabletop RPG or CCG, and also to anyone who is a good enough sport to send in their embarrassing or distatrous moments. Remember, the golden caret offer applies only if you played an instrumental role in the embarrassment or disaster, though I reserve the right to hand out golden carets whenever I feel like it, and I might very well for any really good stories. Gaming Tip of the Week
"When stealing a holy stone from a village, one should always have a good escape plan, or at least really good friends."
Things were going bad enough when one of the characters stole a magical stone from a small village and was captured, but it wasn't a true disaster until after his rescue.
Magicthegathering.com is having a last-minute contest offering the chance for the winner and one friend to attend Pro Tour Honolulu free of charge. This includes free round trip airfare, hotel accommodations, a behind-the-scenes look at the Pro Tour, entrance into the Pro Lounge, free admission to a dozen side events, and a fifty dollar gift bag. The contest began on Monday, February 13, and will last only a week. Because of the short timeframe, only U.S. citizens 18 years or old are eligible to apply. The Upper Deck Company Announces Products for the 2006 Season
Upper Deck Entertainment has announced many upcoming products for the 2006 season. The World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, perhaps the most anticipated of their upcoming products, is slated for an August release. Other new trading card games include the Avatar TCG to be released this month, the Pirates of the Caribbean TCG to be released in June, and the Monster Allergy TCG to be released this fall. New Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG duelist packs and starter decks will be released from February to May. These sets will include new cards featuring characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh GX! television series. Two new sets for the DC Comics TCG are slated for a May release, and more releases are planned for the fall and winter. The Marvel TCG also gets new additions in February and more in the fall.
