The contest ends, and a new grasshopper arrives

Mail Me | Contest #2 | Discuss | Roleplaying Forum

And so it begins. . .

Victory goes to UFJ! The contest has ended. It took a lot longer than I thought it would, but you all played well and congratulations to all of you.

Zollagins submitted a contest entry, but since the contest is now done, I removed the fake ending and put in it as a regular hall of fame entry. It's an interesting story of curiosity gone wrong.

Also, my new grasshopper, responsible for the news and release dates in this week's column, introduces himself at the end. His training is going quite well thus far, and you'll be seeing more from him in the coming weeks.

And with that, it's time for the column...

Star Wars PocketModel coming in June
Source: Wizkids Games

WizKids, makers of HeroClix and Pirates of the Spanish Main, have announced a new game: a Star Wars PocketModel trading card game, in which players collect cards and build starships from thin cardboard. In this writer's casual opinion, it looks quite similar to their Pirates game. The premise seems simple: buy cards, build starships, do space-battle. Launch of the game is projected for June 2007. If the demise of Demise's Star Wars CCG is any indication, Star Wars fans are too busy buying replica lighsabers and dressing up as Darth Maul to afford expensive collectible games, but we'll see. Go here for more information.

 Paizo Recalls GameMastery Campaign Workbook
Source: Paizo Publishing

Paizo is buying back their GameMastery Campaign Workbook. Apparently, the binding is weak, and the book has a tendency to fall apart. Those who bought the book and wish to return it should check out their news release.

And so it ends. . .

I come in peace!

'Allo, gamers! My name is Dan (alias Bartleby) and I'll be taking over the Saving throw in a few weeks or so. For now, I'm assistant curator, which means I'm Nwash's minion for when he gets around to world domination. I've been roleplaying since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and now I'm going to bring everything I've accumulated over the years to Saving Throw! Pocket lint, mostly.
