With the rebirth of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition
it only stands to reason that Wizards of the Coast would issue a new, campaign specific, player's guide. The Forgotten
Realms Player's Guide packs all the necessary information for character creation and advancement, as well as what has
changed in Toril, all in six chapters.
Chapter one provides race information specific for the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. It also introduces two new major
races, the ever popular Drow and the Genasi. Players and Game Masters wanting to incorporate either of these races into
other campaigns could easily use this book for the information regarding them as well.
Chapter two covers classes. The Swordmage, Dark Pact Warlock, and Spellscarred are introduced as new classes, and 25 new
paragon pathes and the new epic destiny, Chosen, are included as well. These class options can be migrated to other campaign
settings without too much difficulty.
Chapter three provides a list of the specific regions and countries on Toril, and suggestions for fleshing out characters for
play in the Forgotten Realms. Chapter four contains new feats, always an essential in character creation, and chapter five
is packed with 24 new rituals.
The final chapter contains an alanmac of the Forgotten Realms, including everything about everyday life on Toril, from the
deities to common (and not so common) lore and commerce. A section on the daily life of the inhabitants of Toril will help complete
character backgrounds.
While essential to playing games set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide contains a
significant amount of material which Game Masters can make use of in a variety of settings.
