The Pyramid of Shadows functions as the final episode of the first Heroic-level adventure for
Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, but can also stand by itself. Written by Mike Mearls and James Wyatt, two veteran
writers, Pyramid of Shadows features a very well written story along with numerous challenging traps and opponents.
Trapped in an extradimensional pyramid with an ancient evil, the player characters face a race against time to stop the evil
warlord from escaping and leaving them trapped inside. Between the player characters and their goal stand a varied assortment
of monsters, villians and other dangers. Fortunately, the challenges are balanced well against the player characters' levels
so an experienced group of players with good tactics need only fear a series of poor dice rolls.
Like all 4th Edition adventures, Pyramid of Shadows is split into an adventure booklet, Game Master booklet, and double
sided poster map packaged neatly inside a folder. All the great artwork and graphic quality that has come to be expected of
Wizards of the Coast's adventures are present as well. The well-written adventure, packaged together with the fancy trappings
of 4th Edition makes this adventure one of the best to date.
