The Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path continues
with a delve into a plague ridden city, on a collision course with total chaos. The
player characters are drawn into the fray once again, taxed with finding allies to
help curb the spread, not only of the disease, but of the panic that is bound to
follow.
The villains in Seven Days to the Grave are numerous, and while at first they
might seem unrelated, it quickly becomes apparent that they, and some of the new
protectors of the city are related in some way. From there, the adventure becomes a
race against time and opponents dead set on spreading the plague, to stop the disease
before the population of the city of Korvosa is completely decimated.
The adventure culiminates with a battle against an agent of the god of disease,
gluttony, and undeath that will push the player characters to their limits. Ultimately,
how successful the player characters are relies entirely how many citizens they save,
and the rewards will vary, depending on how well they do at that task.
For those running campaigns that feature diseases or pestilence as a threat to society
will find the Plague and Pestilence article by Rick Miller and Edward P. Healy
very helpful. This article goes into great detail about how to portray diseases and
pestilence in a fantasy setting, and is one of the better non-adventure articles to
appear in the Pathfinder line to date.
Continuing with the articles to flesh out the world of Golarion, Seven Days to the
Grave adds an article detailing the god Abadar, the god of cities, wealth and law
as well as the further adventures of Eando Kline in the latest entry in the
Pathfinder's Journal. Finally, six new monsters are introduced, including a vampire,
a law abiding construct, a fly capable of taking down a horse, an agent of the god of
undeath, and one of the daemon lords of the apocalypse. Included with the new monsters
is a helpful Korvosa Crypts random encounter table.
Without a doubt, Seven Days to the Grave continues the excellent tradition of
the Pathfinder adventure pathes, and brings out a heaping dose of undead.
