Requirements

To qualify to become a Knight of the Blue Lightning, a character must fulfill all of the following criteria.

Alignment: Any nonchoatic, nonevil
Abilities: Dex 14+
Base Attack Bonus: +5
Class Features: Any Smite class feature
Special: The character must have slain an evil opponent (henchman or monster) with a Challenge Rating of no more than half his character level in an amount of rounds no less than 3 rounds.

Class Skills
Balance (Str), Climb (Str), Iaijutsu Focus (Cha)*, Jump (Str), Listen (Wis), Ride (Dex), Search (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), Spot (Wis), and Swim (Str)
   *Iaijutsu Focus skill appears in the Oriental Adventures book. If it's not available, it is recommended to replace with Concentration as a class skill.
Skill points at each level: 2 + Int Modifier

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A knight is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with all armor (heavy, medium, and light).

Bonus Feats: At 1st level, a Knight of the Blue Lightning gains Exotic Weapon proficiency as a bonus feat, but only with the bastard sword. At 2nd level, he or she gains Quick Draw as a bonus feat. At 3rd level, he or she gains Improved Initiative as a bonus feat.

At levels 6th and 9th, a knight of the Blue Lightning gains a bonus feat from the fighter bonus feat list. He must still comply with the feat prerequisites, as normal.

Armor Mastery (Ex): Starting at 2nd level, a Knight of the Blue Lightning is able to ignore the standard speed reductions for wearing medium armor. At 6th level, the knight can also ignore standard speed reductions for wearing heavy armor.

Flashing Sword Strike (Su): At 4th level, a knight of the Blue Lightning is capable of executing a lightning fast attack while drawing the blade, the principle of iaijutsu. However, the knight's commitment to righteousness allows him to imbue the blade with holy energy, making the attack more dangerous to evil creatures, while not harming good creatures.

As a standard action, the Knight of the Blue Lightning may smite evil with the draw of his or her blade. The Knight of the Blue Lightning must have his sword sheathed before declaring the attack and must be at a prudent distance. The Knight of the Blue Lightning adds his Charisma bonus to attack and deals extra damage equal to his class level, plus any level that grants bonuses (such as paladin levels). If the knight of the Blue Lightning has ranks in Iaijutsu Focus, the knight may immediately make a skill check and add any acquired bonus die of damage. If a Knight of the Blue Lightning strikes a good character, the move is wasted for the day. If the character strikes a neutral character, the extra damage gained from the smite is wasted, but the attack resolves as normal.

A Knight of the Blue Lightning gains one use of this move per day. At 7th and 10th levels, the knight gains an extra use of the skill per day.

Fast Movement (Ex): Beginning at 5th level, a Knight of the Blue Lightning is faster than the norm of its race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light or medium armor, nor carrying a heavy load. At 6th level, a Knight of the Blue Lightning is capable of moving faster wearing heavy armor as well. Apply this bonus before modifying the Knight of the Blue Lightning's speed because of any load carried or armor worn.

At 10th level, the bonus in movement increases by an extra +10 feet.

Lightning Charge (Ex): A Knight of the Blue Lightning is capable of sprinting at lightning speeds, cover the distance between him and his enemy, and strike in a fluid motion, nearly in a split second. This is also a principle of Iaijutsu, but the slight connection with holy beings allows him to gain the superhuman speed required to execute this move.

By sacrificing an use of Flashing Sword Strike, the Knight of the Blue Lightning may choose instead to execute a lightning charge. The knight must be at a prudent charging distance, and his sword must be sheathed before the move. A Knight of the Blue Lightning may use a full attack as part of the charge, as he executes his movement as a free action or faster. If the knight has ranks in Iaijutsu Focus, he may immediately make a skill check and add any adquired bonus die of damage, but only to the attack with the highest base attack bonus. If the first attack fails, the full attack is resolved as normal, but he may no longer attempt a Iaijutsu Focus skill check. The charge bonuses apply to each of the attacks done by the Knight of the Blue Lightning.

If a Knight of the Blue Lightning strikes a good character, all attacks of the Lightning Charge deal no damage.

Slice Evil (Ex): The pinnacle of the Knight of the Blue Lightning's special Iaijutsu training, he is capable of cutting a evil creature in half, defeating him instantly. While such a move is extremely complicated and proof of a swordsman skill, his connection to higher beings grant the extra skill and precision.

By sacrificing an use of Flashing Sword Strike, as a standard action, the Knight of the Blue Lightning may choose instead to deal a death attack. The Knight of the Blue Lightning must have its sword sheathed before declaring the attack, and must be at a prudent distance. The Knight of the Blue Lightning attacks with a single fluid strike that is resolved as a normal attack; if successful, the opponent is instead forced to make a Fortitude save (DC=Iaijutsu Focus or Concentration check result) or die, having been sliced in half. If a Knight of the Blue Lightning strikes a good character, the move is wasted for the day.
