[07/03/00] - Lo, and behold the awakening of the RPGamer staff. Guess they felt the readers were showing them up ;) Come on, reader and writers, show them what you are made of! We have drawn the line, can you toe?
Random thought while updating: My birthday is this month. I turn 19. Woo, I'll be legal drinking age....too bad I don't drink a lot :)
UPDATE NOTICE! My apologies to those who tried to access the list of games with no reader reviews, as it was broken in a couple places. It has now been fixed and will be correct in future and past updates. In the future, in case any other links are broken or there are problems with the reviews, please do not hesitate to email me either at Paws or at Points of View and I will be sure to fix the link as soon as I can :) The review template was also fixed slightly (again), as the title was being placed in the wrong spot. Oops!
Better Late than Never! All the reviews that had been entered in past updates are now posted on their respective games pages. Sorry it took me so long to get around to it.
FORMAT UPDATE! The review criteria has changed! Here is the list of changes:
-Sound has been aligned with Music, so they are now the same criteria.
-Localization has been added. That means how well a game has been translated and adapted to the market its been released in.
-Gameplay has been renamed Interface to fit the criteria better. It still covers non-combat gameplay and how well the game interfaces with the player. This will hopefully make that connection more obvious.
Files that are affected by this change:
-reviewtemplate.html
-reviewtemplate.zip
**Note: These files have been changed already to show the new criteria.
If you're currently writing a review, please move over to this new format. If you've already submitted, don't worry, your format is fine :)
Review Writing BooBoos
A Perfect 10!
Generally, as reviews are quite heavily influenced by opinion, I don't touch the ratings much. The few times I have, I don't send them back and say "these are too high!", I will simply ask the reviewer to look over them again and give an example of something I might look over myself and reconsider. Remember, the proof of your ratings lie within the review. If you're giving a category a high rating yet it has some drawbacks, it's time to reconsider your rating. I've also been accepting, very occasionally, perfect '10' overall scores. Please note that these are extremely rare cases and I will not always allow them. Why not? Simply put, there is no such thing as a perfect game ;)
