  Questions Abound: 05/29/00

[05.29.00] - I've had a good dozen reviews come into my box since I opened this little section, and I find people are having a lot of questions. So there are going to be a few new changes, so to make things easier for both you, the reader to submit, and me so I don't have to reject for silly little things ;)

First misconception: If I reject your review, I'm not saying it's bad or that I never want to see it again. It means something(s) need to be changed, and generally it's something I will have now cleared up. So get back at it, fix what I asked, and resend. And, on a side note, of the 6 or so reviews I got, I accepted *one* on it's first try. No, I'm not being crabby, it's the little stuff I didn't explain cropping up.

Reoccurring problem: Review scores with decimals. When we moved to the new review rating system, we got rid of .5's (we had gotten rid of .1-.9 a while back). So, it's a straight 1-10 system and only has *10* levels rather than the 20 we had when we used .5 and the 100 of .1-.9. I hope this clears up everything, but there is also a note in the review ratings just in case ;)

Common questions: Since I'm getting a couple questions repeated, I'm going to start a FAQ. Not much to say about it, except read it :) If I get a good question in my email, I'll put it into the FAQ :)

On a side note, I've found out my particular mailing system doesn't like .html or .txt attachments. .txt I can deal with, it's just a matter of C&Ping, but HTML gets a little fuzzled. I've now acquired WinRAR, so if you can please, please, zip or rar up your files. Thanks for understanding :) Oh, and please, the only review I will accept *in* the body of the email will be HTMLed ones (which I can easily C&P), because that saves me the headache of the attachment.

POINTS OF VIEW NOW HAS IT'S OWN EMAIL ADDRESS! reviews@rpgamer.com, of course :P Please do not email paws@rpgamer.com *reviews of any kind!*. Questions are okay, questions are good. reviews are not good. I will, for the time being, forward them to the review account, as a sort of transition period takes place, but eventually if I'm still getting people submitting to paws@rpgamer.com, I'm simply going to send it back and delete it. Don't make me be mean, I don't like being mean =^^= All the mailto's on the main page have been changed and the secondary pages should soon as well. With the new account, I should be able to handle all sorts of attachments, however if you're sending to me anything (especially more than one file), please .zip or .rar if you can! :)
Don't worry if you've already submitted to paws@rpgamer.com, you won't get into any trouble and your reviews will get done :)

Review Writing BooBoos

  • Review Ratings which are Decimals
It's a pesky problem hanging on from the time that we had .5's in the criteria (which made our 1-10 system really a 1-20), but it's been removed for a bit now, and so if you slip up, I'll just send it back for adjustment. I've also gotten the rare odd decimals like 7.8 and 5.3. I don't think we've ever had those, but they're toasted too now.
