Introduction

Phillip Clayton - September 15, 2004 - 1:15 Eastern Standard Time

For those of you keeping score at home, I have acquired said piece of media. And yes, it was worth the tireless search. I love it so much in fact that I have enabled the active desktop thing and I keep it on an infinite loop 27/7, and let me tell you something here, it does procure some interesting dreams.

Actually...no, I haven't gotten it yet, but thanks to an email (which I promptly misplaced) from a reader I do have the knowledge on how to obtain this monumental event in human history. For those who contacted me about acquiring this piece of media themselves, download Comcast's media player and there's supposed to be a way you can download it.

Anyhow, I think that's enough filler for now. On to the juicy bits!

Square Enix, Nintendo Open Websites

It seems as if the Square Enix web development team has had their hands full as of late. Three new websites have been opened to the general public: The official Radiata Stories site, and the official Dragon Quest VIII site have been opened for business, while The third website concerns the recently announced Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy hybrid board game Final Fantasy & Dragon Quest in Itadaki Street Special.

Nintendo on the other hand has unveiled the Japanese website for Legend Of Zelda: Minish Cap, the next installment of the Zelda series. There's really not a lot to see, save for a nifty keen flash trailer which will no doubt have the Zelda faithful in the audience salivating.

Nintendo Announces DS Tour Dates

Earlier in the year, Nintendo announced that they would hold a nationwide tour in Japan to promote their upcoming next-generation handheld; the Nintendo DS. Nintendo has held true to their word, as the schedule for "Nintendo World Touch! DS," has been announced. The tour will kick off in Nagoya, where the Japanese public will be able to take Nintendo's latest handheld for a test drive. The full schedule is as follows:

  • November 3: Nagoya, Port Messe Exhibition Hall 2
  • November 7: Osaka, Index Osaka Hall No. 4
  • November 13-14: Tokyo, Tokyo Big Site East Hall 4
  • November 23: Sapporo, Access Sapporo Breweries Large Exhibit Hall
  • November 28: Fukuoka, West Japan Synthesis Exhibition Hall New Building A-B

  • Mega Man Battle Network 5 Update

Capcom intends to have Mega Man Battle Network 5 follow in the footsteps of its two predecessors it would seem. According to Japanese retail solicitations, this new installment in the series will come in two flavors when it arrives in Japan. Also similar to another game in the series, the two versions will have different release dates. Rockman EXE Team of Blues is currently scheduled to be released on December 9, while Rockman EXE 5 Team of Kernel is slated to hit Japan on February 1.

    Tecmo Announces Kagero II

Tecmo has officially unveiled Kagero II: Dark Illusion for the PlayStation 2, the 4th entry into the DEception/Kagero series in which you have to create traps in your mansion and lead people to fall into them. Next to nothing is known about this game at the moment, but when Tecmo decides to release new details we'll keep you posted.

    TGS Information Update

More companies have announced the titles that will be shown off at this year's Tokyo Game Show. With the number of high profile titles and new systems being shown off, it should be quite the spectacle.

      Konami
    • Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim (PS2)
    • Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim (PSP)
    • Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django (GBA)
    • Goemon: New Age Shutsudou! (GBA)
      Hudson
    • Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory (PSP)
      Square Enix
    • Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (DVD)
    • Dragon Quest VIII (PS2, Playable)
    • Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories (GBA, Playable)
    • Before Crisis Final Fantasy VII (Portable, Playable)
    • Egg Monster Hero (DS, Video)
    • EverQuest 2 (PC, Playable)
    • Final Fantasy XI Chains of Promathia (PC/PS2, Video)
    • Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy In Itadaki Street Special (PS2, Playable)
    • Front Mission Online (PS2, Video)
    • Full Metal Alchemist 2 (PS2, Playable)
    • Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2, Playable)
    • Radiata Stories (PS2, Playable)

Still suspiciously absent from Square Enix's list is the newest entry in their flagship series, Final Fantasy XII. Although we still have a few weeks to go until the big event, so there's still plenty of time for the big SE to throw Final Fantasy XII on their list.

Speaking of TGS, the man behind titles such as SaGa Frontier and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles announced in an interview with Gpara that he will reveal his next project at TGS. He didn't give any information other than the announcement of the announcement, so we'll have to wait until the show to see what he has in store for us.

    Final Grumble

I know, I know. I realize that we promised that Japandemonium would feature some stories from AmishChief about his recent trip to Japan this week. But alas, this will have to wait until next week due to circumstances beyond my control.

    Until next time,

    -Phillip Clayton
