Final Fantasy VII was on display for the PC in Eidos' booth. The battle scenes are exceptionally updated with full 3D card support. Effects and attacks - especially summoned monsters - are obscenely impressive. Ironically, the backgrounds, which were the PSX version's highlight, have suffered most in the translation. A PC monitor's higher resolution expose the flaws in the simply stretched rendered backgrounds. Control is also awkward - unless you have a Gravis gamepad (that looks suspiciously like a Playstation controller). Bottom line? If you have the Playstation version, skip it. If you haven't played the game yet, then pick it up. This is one game everyone should experience, regardless of the platform.
