Square Enix announced that its remake for Romancing SaGa 2, originally released for iOS and Android in 2016, will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Windows 10 on December 15, 2017. Pricing was not confirmed, but there will be a 20% discount on all versions of the game from December 15, 2017 to January 8, 2018. The release features new character classes, four original dungeons, and a New Game+ option.

Romancing SaGa 2 was originally released in Japan for the Super Famicom in 1993 before being released for mobile phones in 2011 and then for iOS, Android, and PlayStation Vita in March 2016. The game is the fifth title in the SaGa series and puts players in controls of multiple generations of rulers of the Varennes Empire.
