Nintendo this week revealed that Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King — the Nintendo 3DS remake of the PlayStation 2 title — will receive a January 20, 2017, release in both North America and Europe. The game is the second mainline Dragon Quest game to appear on the Nintendo 3DS, following Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past's release in September of this year.
The 3DS remake of Dragon Quest VIII adds extra content to the original game. New additions include more playable party members, more back-story for the hero and Dhoulmagus, fully-voiced story scenes, extra quests and dungeons, and new alternative ending. The 3DS version also includes quick save and combat speed up options, plus a way to take screenshots outside of battles and events.
