Valkyria: Azure Revolution

Sega recently revealed more details and media for its upcoming Japanese release of Valkyria: Azure Revolution. In addition to introductions to seven new characters and details on four combat classes, a new four-minute trailer was also released with the first half dedicated to the story and the second dedicated to the gameplay.

The first character introduced is Miranda Vilfort, a member of Princess Ophelia's Imperial Guard. A lower-class noble, she is around the same age as Ophelia and the two are childhood friends. Miranda's elder brother Godot Vilfort is also in the Imperial Guard. He is often serious and serves as the adjutant of the Anti-Valkyria Unit, the Vanargand.

Jordur Kvist is an active member of the Jutland army who applied to join the Vanargand upon its formation. He joins because it pays well so he can support his children. Issac Berggreen, meanwhile, is an upper-class noble who joins the Vanargand to uphold his family's honour. He has a high aptitude with Ragnite and is somewhat of a lech.

Next is Daryl Rommedahl, a former member of the Jutland army who left and withdrew to the countryside for unknown reasons. However, the crisis affecting Jutland causes him to return to active duty. Sara Banner, meanwhile, is a capable designer and engineer. She is generally friendly and doesn't care about people's social status. Finally, there is Tilda Gade, an engineer who had her own workshop. She doesn't say much but appears to enjoy puns.

Along with the characters, Sega detailed four types of unit. Similar to previous Valkyria games these are the Shock Trooper, Scout, Engineer, and Armoured Trooper. Shock Troopers focus on offensive and defensive power, while Scouts rely primarily on their mobility. Engineers focus on Magic Arts for support and recovery, and finally Armoured Troopers focus on defense and Magic Arts that help them to protect allies.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution is a reboot of Sega's Valkyria Chronicles series and is being developed by Media.Vision. The game is set to be released in Japan on January 19, 2017, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
