Nintendo today announced the Nintendo Switch, its newest home gaming system. As many predicted, the system looks to combine the power of home gaming system with the portability of a handheld. In its home configuration, the Switch rests within the Nintendo Switch Dock that connects to system to a TV. If users lift the Switch from the Dock, then it switches to portable mode using the device's own screen.
The system features two detachable Joy-Con controllers that can be deployed in multiple ways. One player can use both parts, each in one hand; or two players can use each one separately. More Joy-Con can be used to add extra players, and players can combine both Joy-Con onto a Grip accessory to make it more like a traditional gamepad. An optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will also be available.
