During the keynote presentation today at Sony's PlayStation Experience event in San Francisco, it was announced that Yakuza 5 will be released in North America and Europe this coming Tuesday December 8, 2015. The game will be released for PlayStation 3 at a price of $39.99/£29.99/€39.99, though a 15% discount is still available for those who preorder in North America. Its western release comes a year after its original announcement at the same event last year.

Yakuza 5 wasn't the only Yakuza game to appear, however. The series' prequel, Yakuza Zero, was also announced for a western release some time in 2016. Yakuza Zero will be exclusive to PlayStation 4, having been released in Japan in March of this year. The game takes place in Tokyo in 1988 and lets players control both Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima.
