From Software has released screenshots introducing the online component of Dark Souls III. The game carries on the series tradition in many ways, such as bloodstains that can show the final moments of those who have perished nearby and messages that can be left for others. Messages can be rated; doing so restores half of a character's health and allows the message to exist for longer.
Making a return also is the co-op summoning of other players to provide aid in battle and dark phantoms that can invade and pursue the host player in an attempt to take their lives. To summon other phantoms, an ember must be used to restore power to the Lord of Cinder. This is only temporary, as it is lost upon the death of the player.
Dark Souls III is set to launch on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC March 24, 2016 in Japan. A North American and European date hasn't been set yet but is slated for April 2016.
