Final Fantasy XIII-2

In a recent Dengeki PlayStation magazine interview, Final Fantasy XIII-2's producer Yoshinori Kitase went into some detail on the game's downloadable content. The game will have a great deal of content, and Kitase said to expect there to be one or two updates every month, each containing many items. While he did not say how much the DLC would cost, he did state that there would be a balance between content quality and price. Among some of the previously announced DLC pieces include new costumes, weapons, and enemies. The costumes and weapons will appear in event scenes.

Aside from the interview, the Dengeki article also went into detail on Final Fantasy XIII-2's "Summon Raid" and "Synchro Drive Gauge" systems. The former involves the capturing of monsters for use in battle. During battle, some enemy species will turn to crystal when defeated. The player then sets their Summon Raid with up to three monsters. As the player switches Paradigms monsters will also automatically switch in an out depending on their specific roles. The Synchro Drive Gauge is a special move system for recruited monsters. A monster's Syncro Gauge builds as it takes part in battle, and when it is filled the beast will unleash a powerful move.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released in North America on January 31, 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It will be released in Japan on December 15 of this year and in Europe on February 3, 2012.
