Alpha Protocol

The official website for Alpha Protocol has been launched. The Sega published modern-day espionage RPG is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, which has most recently developed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, and Neverwinter Nights 2 and its expansions. Obsidian Entertainment is made up of some ex-Black Isle Studios members, who have worked on or assisted in the production of games such as Icewind Dale, Fallout, and Baldur's Gate.

In Alpha Protocol, the player will take on the role of a government agent named Michael Thornton as he investigates the shooting down of a commercial airliner by a U.S. defense missile fired from an unknown party. Players will be able to customize Michael's weaponry and gadgets in addition to his skills and combat abilities. Player decisions regarding game situations and ally and enemy encounters will be key to the game experience, as the player will have many choices with no one being right or wrong. Different choices will either strengthen or destroy relationships, altering the storyline and the ending of the game.

Though most sections on the newly opened website are not available yet, the site does contain more detailed Alpha Protocol information, screenshots, concept art, and a link to the official forums. Alpha Protocol currently has no concrete release date, but is projected to be released sometime in 2009. The official Alpha Protocol website can be viewed here.
