Square Enix Ltd. announced today that the company would be publishing its first non-Square Enix-developed title in Europe in early 2008. Released in late May in Japan and North America, Odin Sphere will be playable with English, French, German, Spanish, or Italian in-game text. The game will also include the option to use either a 60 Hz display mode to see the game the way the creators intended or a fully optimized 50 Hz mode.

John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, "Odin Sphere embodies the commitment of Square Enix in bringing new experiences to European gamers. This is especially reflected in our partnership with Atlus, allowing Square Enix Ltd. to publish the first non Square Enix title in PAL territories. The wonderfully crafted Odin Sphere is the best possible start to an exciting new period for the company."

Exclusively for the PlayStation 2, Odin Sphere follows the stories of five different characters as their lives intertwine with each other. The story begins by setting players in the role of Gwendolyn, daughter of Odin and a valkyrie in his army, as she soon finds out that what is good or evil can easily be in the eye of the beholder.

The game features five playable characters, hand-drawn artwork and animations, music from renowned composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, and a robust alchemy system that will keep players busy for hours. At this time, Odin Sphere has yet to receive a rating from PEGI or a suggested retail price.
