While the gaming community continues to speculate on the eternal question of next-gen console dominance, how do developers feel about the next generation of gaming? Last week's issue of Famitsu revealed a survey about developers' expectations on the latest platforms and upcoming games.

The survey consisted of 58 developers from 19 game companies. The population of the study involved directors, programmers, and designers instead of business staff.

Among other questions, developers were asked to rate which games they were most excited about for each console; several RPG's made the list. While Metal Gear Solid 4 topped expectations for the PlayStation 3, Final Fantasy XIII came in second with ten votes. The Xbox 360 had both first and second slots topped with RPGs. Mistwalker's Blue Dragon unsurprisingly held the lead with 18 votes and was followed by Lost Odyssey's 14. Atop of the Wii's lineup was Zelda: Twilight Princess, with an overwhelming 26 votes with Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn tackled on as an afternote.

The Famitsu survey also had developers' expectations of each console rated along with a listing of their favorite features. Additionally, the study pit the platforms in terms of predicted sales, development, and what the developers personally wanted.
