A recent report from 1UP, which was a translation of an article on Reuters Japan, has created buzz in the gaming community as of late. According to 1UP, the Reuters article contained a quote from Square Enix president Yoichi Wada stating that next-generation Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest titles could end up on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Apparently, the chatter amongst the community regarding this issue has become too loud for Square Enix to pass off like most other rumors, as they issued a press release today stating that "...speculation about the availability of Final Fantasy series and Dragon Quest series games on these systems has been reported on various media. However, we have made no concrete decision on our strategic direction of this issue."
While the press release neither confirms nor denies the validity of Wada's claims, but seems to reiterate officially that nothing is certain, Square Enix told 1UP after it had posted its article that Wada's quotes in the Reuters article were "inaccurate." We'll bring you more as this develops.
