Compilation of Final Fantasy VII

Recently, two of Square Enix's top developers sat down with several Japanese publications to talk about the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII project. The project is under the supervision of Yoshinori Kitase and is the collection of spinoffs of Final Fantasy VII. Currently, the project is known to include Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus.

Kitase spoke with Famitsu about the project and a few of its games, mentioning that Crisis Core is still fairly early in its development cycle. While the game is not yet ready to be demonstrated in any way, the scenario is nearly finished being written. The producer also remarked that Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII will have an easy mode.

While Yoshinori Kitase was busy speaking with Famitsu, character designer Tetsuya Nomura sat down with Dengeki PS2. While Nomura didn't say much, he did reveal that there would be a very important presentation related to Compilation of Final Fantasy VII at the 2006 Electronics Entertainment Expo.

Dirge of Cerberus will be released in Japan on January 26, 2006, while Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII has a more vague release timeframe of sometime in 2006. Aside from Advent Children, the other titles in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII have yet to receive much news on North American localizations.
