Titan Quest

Brian Sullivan, co-creator of Age of Empires, is working with THQ and Iron Lore Entertainment to create a new action RPG entitled Titan Quest. He claims that the game will feature a variety of innovative enhancements to the standard action RPG genre.

The game will be set in the ancient world in exotic locations such as the Parthenon, the Great Pyramids of Egypt, and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The gods have disappeared and an ancient evil has released hordes of mythical beasts. Humans are left to deal with their imminent extinction.

One of the developer's primary goals is to immerse the player in graphical detail where trees will be displayed down to the shadows of individual leaves. The vegetation of the environment will respond to the players and monsters, reacting even to spells that are cast. Titan Quest will also feature interactive water, soft shadowing for multiple light sources, and a fully dynamic lighting system.

The game will contain over 1,000 unique pieces of equipment, all with unique art and abilities. It will also feature a fully customizable class system to support a player's preference in play style. The class system will feature eight character subclasses for a player to choose from. A player, though, will not be limited to eight, but 28 different character classes by being able to mix two subclasses together into their own choice of hybrid class. Skills include summoning pets, casting spells, buffing, and healing.

Titan Quest will use cooperative multiplayer to allow players to team together with friends or family. The class system will be designed to create unique team combinations for a deep multiplayer playing experience.

The game is currently listed for a Spring 2006 release in North America for the PC, with no details of releases in other parts of the world.
