At the beginning of the year, Square Enix will be re-releasing two RPGs originally released at the turn of the century. Valkyrie Profile and Dragon Quest VII will be released in Japan under the PS One Books label on February 3. The reasoning behind re-releasing these two titles under the PS One Books label is because they were both released by Enix before they merged with Squaresoft in April 2003. Square Enix is also planning on re-releasing other "famous" titles in a similar fashion.
Japanese gamers who pick up these games in February will be paying substantially less than what they would have 5 years ago. Valkyrie Profile will go for 2,625 yen ($25 USD); less than a third of the original 7,140 yen ($69 USD) price tag, while Dragon Quest will be sold for 3,675 ($35 USD); under half of its original sticker price. As of yet the possibility of a North American re-release has not been disclosed.
