Bioware has released a BETA patch for the PC version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The patch was made to correct two problem areas in the game. The two problems are: the long pauses that occur while playing with the sound enabled while using a motherboard with an Intel i845 of i850 chipset with 100mhz front side bu; and the crashes that occur at the main menu with a Radeon 9600 graphics card. Since this is a BETA patch, only those with one or both of these problems should install it. The patch can be found at Bioware's official site.
