US Release for FFVII: Advent Children?

At the most recent Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix dropped quite a bomb on the game world with the announcement of a second Final Fantasy movie, called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. As previously reported, the DVD-exclusive movie will be about an hour long and take place two years after the game's ending. While this announcement has excited many legions of Final Fantasy VII fans worldwide, no official statement has been made to indicate that the movie will ever be released outside of Japan.

However, North Americans who want to see the movie, but are not willing to import were recently given a small glimmer of hope. According to German game site Gamefront, Square Enix has requested United States title protection for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. While this does not guarantee the movie will be released stateside, it would be a necessary step, should Square Enix decide to take the film accross the Pacific. RPGamer will be sure to report on further developments.
