Role-playing fans can now obtain their own copies of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for the Xbox through their local retailers. The publisher, Black Isle Studios, has confirmed the availability of the game.

The implementation of adapted third edition D&D rules, combined with in-depth character customization and development, brings fresh gameplay to the Xbox world. Dark Alliance also features two-player capability and an "extreme mode" for more challenging gameplay. Feargus Urquhart, president of Black Isle Studios, has expressed confidence that the technological capabilites of the Xbox will "enhance" the overall experience of playing this recent installment to the Baldur's Gate series.

This third-person perspective RPG is set in the familiar town of Baldur's Gate on the Sword Coast. Players find themselves amid swirling rumors of a Thieves' Guild civil war, and they must work to overcome the encroaching darkness.
