More Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire Details Surface

Nintendo has revealed details regarding the basic Pokémon and gear for Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire, which is set for a November 21 release in Japan.

As all Pokémon games go, the player chooses one of three types of starter Pokémon: grass, fire, and water. Those with a green thumb may be inclined toward Kimori, a grass type Pokémon resembling a gecko. Players with a fiery spirit can select Achamo, a small red and orange bird, as their companion. Of course, if water types are a player's favorite, he or she can choose the mud-dwelling Mizugorou, a strange blue creature with orange gills.

Since no trainer should leave home without his or her gear, Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire outfits players with useful tools for the journey. The classic Pokedex has been modified into the Pokémon Navigator. It seems to differ little from the original Pokedex, as it contains a list of all Pokémon and their locations. Another gadget is the pollock, which stores different kinds of stat-boosting candies for Pokémon.

While Japanese fans have more than a month to go until Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire hits the store shelves, a U.S. release date has not been set. RPGamer will continue to follow the story and provide any additional information as it is released.
