Enix Announces Figures

Hurt by the delay of Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru's Adventure, Enix's gross profit for the first half of the 2001 fiscal year has dipped 89.71% to 1.371 billion yen ($11.22 million US). Sales were also down by two thirds as compared with last year's numbers, at 8.462 billion yen ($69.52 million US). The numbers are probably less alarming than they appear, however; Dragon Quest VII was released in Japan the previous year, which likely accounts for a great deal of the decline.

Despite these somewhat gloomy numbers, the company is expecting a net profit of 6 billion yen ($49.1 million US) by the end of March 2002. Total sales are projected at 28.2 billion yen (just shy of $231 million US).
