It seems that whenever a PC game is launched these days, there is usually something wrong with it. That is not to say that consoles are immune to this; witness Square's less-than-stellar handing of its re-releases. Ubi Soft has fallen prey to this phenomenon as well, as word is getting around that Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor is riddled with bugs.

Gamespot and other sources are reporting that the bugs range from problems during installation to extreme cases where uninstalling the game leads to deletion of essential Windows system files.

Garrett Graham, producer of the title, stopped by the official message board, posting the following: "We are currently working on patching the Install/Uninstall problems and just about everything else that's being reported to our Tech Support. Not that it's any comfort to the people having problems, but we did not deliberately ship with the Install/Uninstall bugs. A lot of people haven't had any problems with the game and that's the game we thought we were releasing. Right now we're working on a patch so that the rest of you can also play that game."

He went on to say, "To answer your question about when the patch will be released, the truth is, I don't have an exact date. I want to make sure that QA and the programmers have time to fully figure out what is causing these problems and that we make sure we thoroughly test the patch before releasing it. I don't want to make this situation worse by rushing out an incomplete patch."

Gamers that have already bought the title should check out the official Pool of Radiance page, while those that are waiting should probably hang on until the appropriate patches have been released.
