Earlier RPGamer reported that the hit Interplay game Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn was coming to Sony's PlayStation 2 console sometime next year. While the world of Baldur's Gate might be coming to PlayStation 2, there is good reason to believe that the game that has been revealed is NOT the same game as the one that appeared on the PC.

The clue is here. "Most likely it'll be original" is a quote from an Interplay represenative. When this was said, it triggered memories of a very subdued moment at this past year's e3. Those who went to e3, and went into the small room that housed Interplay's booth might remember a poster on the wall for "Baldur's Gate Legends." The game, which showed in no other form whatsoever, was to be an adventure game for PlayStation 2 in the Baldur's Gate universe. As no details were ever released on the game, the world seemed to just forget that the poster ever existed.

Keep in mind, there is no evidence that this is the game in question. It could still be Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. It could be both, and Interplay was just hoping that no one would remember. All RPGamer can tell you for sure is that the Baldur's Gate universe WILL be coming to your PS2 sometime in the future.
