Compile Heart recently released some more details and media for its upcoming RPG Death end re;Quest confirming its premise and detailing a few important characters. The game is set in the near future and concerns a VRMMORPG named World's Odyssey that was cancelled following the disapearance of its director. Several years after its cancellation, however, the game is restored but in a bug-filled state.

One of the two main characters is game programmer Arata Mizunashi, who receives an e-mail from the other main protagonist Shina Ninomiya, the game's director, that explains she is trapped inside the game. The two look to investigate the game's reemergence and why she is unable to exit it. Joining the two are Lily Hopes and Lucil Filarete, two NPCs in World's Odyssey who supposedly possess "human hearts". Finally, there is Ripuka, a woman who suddenly apepared in World's Odyssey and harbours a murderous intent.

Death end re;Quest is in development for PlayStation 4 under Compile Heart's Galapagos RPG brand, which also covers Fairy Fencer F and Omega Quintet. A Japanese release date has not been announced, nor is there any news regarding a western release.
