Microsoft announced that the Xbox One release of Snowcastle Games' Earthlock: Festival of Magic will be available free to Xbox Gold subscribers in September through its Games with Gold promotion. This news follows the previous announcement that the game will be launching on PC, Mac, and Xbox One on Spetember 1, 2016, with release dates for its Linux, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Wii U versions still to be announced. Outside of the Games with Gold promotion, the game will cost $29.99.
Earthlock: Festival of Magic received funding through a Kickstarter campaign in April 2014. The game is a turn-based RPG set on the magical world of Umbra. Some time long before the game's events, the world suddenly stopped spinning, leaving one half of the world constantly under sunlight and the other in darkness. Players start as Amon, a scavenger who becomes embroiled in a conflict involving the Suvian Empire. To go with this latest announcement, developer Snowscastle Games released Earthlock's launch trailer, with the two-minute video showing glimpses of various aspects of the game.
