Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past

Nintendo and Square Enix have released a new trailer for the upcoming RPG Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. The video focuses on the many different classes, known as vocations, available in the game and how the player will be able to influence them.

Fragments of the Forgotten Past will contain a series-record number of vocations, with over thirty available. Starting vocations will be of the classic Martial Artist, Thief, and Warrior variety. Switching between vocations is possible and necessary to unlock newer ones. Skills gained while mastering a vocation stay with the character forever, so it is advantageous to complete as many as possible.

Monster vocations will also be available in the game. Monster vocations give the character the form of a monster and allow for unique abilities and some will offer altered overworld movement. These vocations are found by defeating the right monsters or finding the right treasure chests.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forbidden Past is a full 3D remake of the 2000 PlayStation original. The game, exclusive to Nintendo 3DS, is arriving in North America and Europe on September 16, 2016.
