CD Projekt has confirmed that the first expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Hearts of Stone, will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 13, 2015. The expansion is said to contain ten hours of content and sees Geralt travel across No Man's Land and Oxenfurt after being hired to deal with a bandit named Olgierd von Everec, who is said to have the power of immortality.

In Hearts of Stone, players will be able to hire a crew of break-in artists, party with a ghost, and outsmart bizarre new creatures. The expansion also introduces a system called Runewords that is said to offer significant effects of various gameplay aspects. Hearts of Stone's content is designed for characters of level 30+.

The expansion will be available digitally and in a special physical edition. This physical edition has a suggested retail price of $19.99/€19.99 and contains a digital download code for Hearts of Stone, two physical Gwent card decks — Monsters and Scoia’tael — and a detailed manual explaining the rules of Gwent. Those who have purchased the digital expansion pass to get access to Hearts of Stone and the upcoming Blood and Wine expansion, planned for release in Q1 2016, will be able to purchase the Gwent decks separately by going to redeemgwent.com.
