The first expansion for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity, The White March: Part I, is now available for PC, Mac, and Linux. The first part can be bought now for $14.99/£10.99/€14.99, or players can purchase the Expansion Pass for $24.99/£18.99/€23.99, which also grants access to The White March: Part II when it is released this winter. The White March takes place during the middle of the original game's story, meaning that players can access the content even if they have not completed the game. The expansion also bringing a number of gameplay additions and enhancements. The game's level cap is increased from 12 to 14, with new skills and spells added to all the game's classes for these new levels. New wintery environments based on Icewind Dale have been added along with Soulbound weapons that grow in power over time.

The expansion also adds multi-classing options, as well as two new companions — The Devil of Caroc, a rogue, and Zahua, a monk — who will return with players to the base campaign. Party AI scripts will allow players to somewhat automate their party's actions, with enemy AI receiving a rework to add more challenge to the game.
