Spike Chunsoft and tri-Ace are teaming up to release a new RPG in Japan. Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky is a side-view RPG and is set to be released in the country later this year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The game currently has a teaser website, with the full site set to be unveiled on August 3, 2015.

Exist Archive's scenario is being written by its director, tri-Ace founder and Valkyria Profile scenario writer/designer Masaki Norimoto, with the characters being designed by Love Plus and Tokimeki Memorial character designer Mino Taro, and the soundtrack being composed by Motoi Sakuraba. The game is initially set in modern-day Tokyo, but an explosion supposedly kills off the game's twelve main characters and they find themselves in an alien location called Protolexa. The heroes are apparently left housing the spirit of an evil god within them and they become involved in a quarrel between gods that reside in Protolexa.

Dungeon exploration in Exist Archive takes place in a side view with mildly-chibified 3D characters. The battle system features four characters at once, each character assigned to one of the face buttons. Pressing the button instructs that character to attack and players can chain moves together by using the characters in certain orders. Characters can be positioned either in the front or back row; being in the front row increases attack power but makes it more likely for them to be attacked, with the opposite applying for the back row. It is possible to switch characters between rows in combat, and there is also a special attack called Demon’s Greed that comes from the evil god sealed within the heroes.
