During Gamescom 2011, the team behind Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning had lots of new details to share about the game. Not only did the game receive a Feb. 7, 2012 release date, but the team also posted a forty minute gameplay demo, a new trailer, and other assorted media.
The gameplay demo below highlights not only combat, but also the dialogue response system, the world map, and fast travel before ending with a community Q&A session. Big Huge Games also shares specifics about Reckoning's Destiny system, a flexible class system. In the game, players are not forced to select a class at the start. Instead, players select either a male or female character and select a race. Then, as the character levels up, players can put skill points into skills in melee, sorcery, or finesse. Depending on how many points go into each category, different destinies become available. For example, in the demo the assassin build is a pure finesse build, but the team shows how that can be modified.
If you have even the slightest interest in the game and want to see a combat highlight, jump to 16:50 and watch as a character with an assassin destiny knocks an enemy into the air and juggles him with arrows.
