Capitalism, Ho! Recettear Selling Well

Recettear

Item shop owner Recette is not the only one doing well these days. The publisher of Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, Carpe Fulgur, released the sales data for the game today. Across all distribution platforms, Recettear has sold over 26,000 copies in four weeks, a rare feat for an independent game.

Andrew Dice, Project Director at Carpe Fulgur, was quoted as saying, "Only in our wildest dreams did we think we could do this well. An independent game selling this many copies so quickly rarely happens - and for an independently-produced game from Japan, released in the West, it's never happened to my knowledge. Recettear's success has guaranteed that Carpe Fulgur will be able to pay all its staff industry-competitive wages for an entire year or more - and that the company's future in bringing over more high-quality titles is secured."

We should hear more about Carpe Fulgur's other localization projects soon, but in the meantime if you've not checked out Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale you can via Steam, Impulse and Gamersgate for $19.99.
