EA has announced a new game in the Spore franchise, a sci-fi action-RPG called Darkspore. Featuring both single player and four-player co-op, players will collect various genetic heroes with varying abilities, and upgrade them with a huge variety of collectible body parts and armor.

Darkspore will include three different classes, each with five different heroes and a variety of missions that will require players to select different squads suitable for each mission. Players will traverse a huge universe of planets on a quest to defeat the dark spore.

Darkspore is currently slated for a February 2011 release on the PC. Be sure to stay tuned to RPGamer for more news and info as its release draws closer.
